Haven't seen this answered before, maybe there's not an answer yet.

Usually, it seems like acheivements don't really serve any purpose.  The thing I liked about ME1 is that you got real in-game boosts to stats for completing different things.  Has there been any word on whether or not ME2 will do that same thing?  Or will the acheivemtnts be there just to be there, and not really do anything for you?

Don't know for sure. The achievements that were leaked don't say. It's a good question, though.

I seem to remember reading that if you earn the character's trust (resulting in an achievement) you get a special boost for that character.

Some of your achievements from ME1 apparently carry over and do something in ME2.

That sounds familiar.  Not sure if it's just a coincidence, though.

Seems like that could be a reward for doing something major with the plot/characters, and it also happens to be an acheivement.  I mean gaining a character's trust is a little different than getting 100 headshots (or whatever the number was), with regards to the plot.

Not saying you're wrong, just thinking out loud.  Good call on the loyalty reward, though.  You have a link to that?

Yes, like the Rich achievment. However, the OP is asking if the achievements earned in ME2 will have in game bonuses. If I was to guess, I'd say no. They've changed the way bonus skills are earned completely. Also the way XP is earned. So it probably won't fit with the new system.

me too thoose little bonuses actually made me try to complete the achivments (something I have never done before or after Mass Effect)
