"Damn entitled gamers. They're so privileged!" *opens a free review copy of ME3*

Here's how I feel about the whole thing. I paid $60 for Mass Effect 3. That guy probably got 12 free copies of the game. Therefore, I think I'm far more entitled to speak my mind on the subject than he is. Furthermore, writing and signing online petitions isn't going to hurt anyone, much less this multi-billion dollar game industry. He feels that anyone who has a different opinion (other than the ending being great) should just shut their mouths and deal with it. I ****ing hate people like him and he's one of the reasons why I don't bother with IGN anymore. Look at that picture. Just screams "games journalism has integrity!" doesn't it?

Paying customers have every right in the world to go on these forums, send e-mails, leave messages on Facebook and Twitter, it doesn't matter what it is, they have the right to say whether or not they're satisfied with their product that they paid $60 for. Period. If you have a problem with that, well, go beat your head against a wall, because it ain't changing anytime soon.

Finally, I think demanding game developers to change their ending of their game is wrong. In fact, I think demanding any company to change their product just because you're not happy with it is wrong. The way that people should have gone about is by asking and leaving personal reviews and advice on forums like this one. Asking is a lot nicer than demanding and you're more likely to get what you want.

The real problem with this ending is the fans.

BioWare clearly didn't think so.

Also, Hudson said nothing about common sense in relation to the ending, in that article.

You sure about that?

"I think a lot of the common sense is prevailing," Hudson told Digital Trends.

Ha, he doesn't say anything about common sense in relation to the endings in that article either.

There are conflicting reports on where that begins and ends.

I guess we can all agree that the one with the asari-cloning plant and the last-minute, plot-resolving prototype relay is the "good one", right?

The bad precedent was the original ending.

And EC didnt even change the endings. Thats what people WANTED, but they didnt get, EC just did what it said it would, EXTENDED the same endings.

Extended cut wasn't made for the whiners... most of the whiners are still whining today.

So no I don't think its a bad precedent that the devs decided to fix what they knew needed to be fixed to their own specifications.

I totally agree. The first endings weren't explained at all, and the Catalyst did not give enough information on every one of the endings. The Extended Cut offered more explanation and outcome according to the ending you chose. I mean, if people hate the EC so much then why won't they just delete it and stay with the original and stay angry? I mean, with Shepard living in the end of High EMS Destroy, I think Bioware wanted the fans to continue their own Shepard story from there on making it themselves. If you're an artist, you probably might have more fun with visualization. I don't think Shepard should have survived the ending at all, because it just doesn't make sense and that's where the load of B.S. started anyways.

I don't know. Some people think that because they paid $60 means that they have the right to be satisfied. Or that since they spent 200+ hours playing a game series, that it automatically entitles them to anything they want.

The real definition of a loyal fan is someone who keeps supporting Bioware and buying their stuff no matter what happens. These people who were handed an Extended Cut made by Bioware themselves specifically for them to provide a little more closure and a few less plot holes (perceived plot holes not actual plot holes). The stuff people are complaining about is not a plot hole), and then turning around and saying stuff like "not good enough" "I need more closure, or less plot holes" aren't loyal fans in the slightest.

One of the reasons this place was stated to be increasingly toxic by someone who works for them. They also went on to say that the BSN is not the only place they get their feedback from. They have met plenty of people who hold Mass Effect 3 and it's ending in high praise, instead of people around here who continue to be bitter about the thing.

At this point, those people are disgruntled customers who have nothing better to do than to spend day in and day out talking about how much they were disappointed. At the end of the day, it's just a game. There are more important things in life to worry about.

The fact that you tried to pull the "loyal fan" crap makes this whole statement fall over itself

I've seen you on here before calling people close minded for not accepting the ending as IT, and you probably still do

Generally you can criticise the games, they're not free from criticism, but I always feel that if you're going to criticise something you have to put forward some good alternative that can stand up to the same level of critique. Generally you don't see that much on BSN.

And yeah BSN does have a large case of "previous fans". Really, if the ending ruined the enjoyment of the entire series for you, then it's time to move on.

Those fans who really believe that are deluded and should probably be ignored. Those type of people are always out to find something to complain about in their favorite games and other media.

You're definition of what a loyal fan is could be completely different from somebody else's definition. I would argue that what you just described is a blind fanboy. Still, those fans have every right to continue to say they are not satisfied with the product. The EC clearly didn't fix what they felt was fundamentally wrong with the endings.

Yes, I believe it was David Gaider who said that and I think he's correct. The froum is still full of people who are very bitter and aren't on good terms with BioWare. I try to ignore these people and focus on discussing things and starting topics that are related to the games. I still play them.

That's the definition of a moron. Ultimately, Bioware provide a service. If you're satisfied with that service, then that's good for you. If you're not, then only an idiot would keep supporting them "no matter what".

So because we don't have the budget/time to make a better game our opinions are invalid?

I have no interest in becoming a sycophant, I'll support the works which I feel reflect the quality of their previous efforts, not because it bares a brand name.

I didn't even mention IT. Sheesh. You know at this point, if you're still not satisfied with this game, deal with it. Move on. If people are still going on about this thing a year after release, you've got issues. You need a big time reality check. It's just a game. If you get this upset over things in real life, I suggest you go seek professional help or something. This is a video game, not real life.

When I buy something that doesn't work, I go to the store and get myself a refund. Problem solved. Most reasonable people would do so. I don't go on about this like some people here for almost a year demanding that something be fixed. Some customers just aren't worth keeping, and people around here aren't worth Bioware's time or money to try and please.

It was "a good one" but not "the good one". I think the one where we attacked the Collectors and explored the galaxy outside the shade of common morality was even better.

They were at one point, back maybe a month after release.

Or another thing people could have done is wait a month or so after the game gets released. If it has issues, best not to put money down on it.

It's just, like I said, people believe that they aren't going to give up on this until every single person who buys this game is satisfied. Unfortunately, in the business world, you can't satisfy everyone. No matter how much money or time people have put into this game, doesn't mean they are owed certain things.

There have been certain companies which have gone bankrupt because they catered to the "core fans" too much

I've already moved on from the ending and I'm still on BSN because I choose to, but that doesn't change how people feel about them. Most of the new threads about the ending are usually from new players or people who just joined BSN

But if the topic about the endings shows up, of course people are going to say something about it

Your here talking about how a real fan should buy all Bioware's game regardless when that's not how being a fan is

Unfortunately, they had announced the Extended Cut at that point. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, when I really should have cashed in. Anyway, that's no longer an option.

I remember when Amazon and Gamestop were actually refusing returns less than 2 weeks after release. They still don't accept them.
