I don't know if it's just me, but I think many gamers will feel the same. I love this game to death. Everything pretty much is great. The way you're able to manage your inventory and compare items that you find with items that you currently have equipped on certain characters is genious. Another great feature is how meaty the tactics system is. The game could be as easy or as complicated as you want it to be. I personally found the tactics system to be pretty hardcore. I'm having a little bit of trouble with everything that you could do with it. But it's cool. I understand enough that it doesn't detract from the awesome experience that I'm having with the game. But I do have one complaint about the game. I don't like the fact that I don't have access to all of my characters at any given time. I hate the fact that I have to go all the way back to camp or nearby village just to get Leliana in my party to get her to open a chest that I could'nt open up in a specific dungeon that I'm currently in. I think that this could be fixed in an update or if they are not able to implement that feature in this game, to do so in future titles. I don't know how you guys feel, but I think that this would be a great addition to an otherwise incredibly crafted game. I could tell that the guys at Bioware are as passionate about gaming as an entertainment medium as much as I am. For that, I thank everyone at Bioware for making such an incredible experience and enriching our lives with such a fantastic game. You have here one loyal and totally grateful customer. Can't wait to see what you guys have coming up next. Thanks again guys. Your hard work and effort is appreciated. Posted Image

Um, you d know that if you are in a place that you can travel on the map from that you can just select the party button at the top of the screen and change your party without moving, right?

Yea I know that, but I want to be able to switch characters on the fly and at any given time. Even when I'm traversing a dungeon and such, but the icon is grayed out when your in a dungeon. The icon only becomes available at specific places like villages or when the game prompts you to choose your party to venture forth.

Yeah.you can only switch parties in placs where it makes sense? How would Zev or Leli magically know you need them to unlock a chest when you ae 546375236 mils into the deep rads. And how would they get there?

I'll agree with Sloth on this one - the game is designed off of a certain level of realism; realism within a certain set of rules, certainly, but that is still realism all the same. Anytime-swaps are outside of those rules.

And don't make any sense. And make it too easy too avoid consequence.

I'd forgotten about that. :wizard:

The game is set in a fantasy world. Therefore, that could be explained by such magics as telepathy and teleportation. It could be done. I've played Fable and no one really complained about the hero teleporting magically from place to place. It fit the fantasy aspect of the game well. If that could be done in that game, it could be done in this one.

Enchantment indeed.

Teleportation is impossible in Dragon Age. It's one of the limits upon magic - and explicitly stated in lore.

Meh sure it 'could be done' but it is a pathetic cop-out explanation that makes no sense in-lore, but would simply exist to service lazy players who don;t want to have t choose what companions to take with them at any one time. Which kind of defeats the whole idea behind of DA, which is a game about choices.

Citing Fable as an example is kind of like saying "Well, the Ford Pinto had really good gas mileage for its era.

Thanks for explaining that Inarai. I must've missed that somehow. I'm not to far into the game. So I guessed I haven't collected that part of the lore ingame. I read every piece of codex that I come across. Just haven't found that one i guess. Thanks for clarifying that. It makes sence now, I guess.

You make sence Sloth. The game is about choices and it would be unrealistic to have a feature that allowed you to do that. I guess I'm still not over all of those old-school RPG's that allowed you to have all of your party members trailing behind you.

Eh, they even did this in some older titles - as I recall, Crono Trigger had a habit of not letting you switch sometimes.

I guess Bioware could only do so much to try to please everyone in that respect. I don't think I get my wish this time, but I could sacrifice a little bit of realism in favor of some accessibility.

Sometimes different groups have competing interests.  Either way, if you're on PC, there's probably a mod.

I've got a suggestion! One that I will happily pay 500 MS Points for, A quest for a tome, enchanted stone, or something that takes all your characters back to level 1. Now when I say this I don't mean turn a level 20 char into a level 1 char but reset EVERYTHING from skill points to stats and specializations (Maybe not specializations; plot reasons) to level 1 and let US build OUR characters from scratch, as much as I love this game it's not a real gripe I have but... I just don't like it when a game thinks for me. I want to build MY characters. Getting Wynne at level 14 and having her stats and skills all over the place is detrimental to say the least. :/

Or... you could always download a mod which lets you teleport and switch out party members. *shrug*

If it makes you happy, the upcoming Awakenings expansion will allow you to respec.

IMHO it is lame, but w/e.

Well, seeing this wasn't intended to be a game for major min-maxing, I can't say as I see where the issue lies.

I hear you. That is a good idea, I think. The game is very much about freedom and they should allow that kind of freedom if you so wish. Everybody plays games differently and I don't think the developer should choose the way you should play.

Correction:  It's about choices, and their consequences.
