 I am pretty new to Mass Effect 3, if fact, this is my first post.

I am trying to build a vanguard class and I prefer shotguns, so far I am liking the Graal, Wraith and the Claymore.

But the Scimtar seems pretty good too, would you recommend that to anyone?

With the shotgun damage bonuses in the Vanguard's passives and Charge (if you take that evolution), the Vanguard can make just about any shotgun good. Incendiary Ammo with rank 6 Explosive Burst makes shotguns even better.

In short, the Scimitar is actually good on the Vanguard. The Soldier and Infiltrator can make it good too since they have good weapon damage bonuses and ammo powers. It is not so good on the other classes though.

No I would not recommend the Scimitar.

That said, Vanguard can do most of the game without weapons if you want.

Best two shotguns would be Wraith and Raider. If you have DLC then Reegar and Venom could potentially be abused.

M-11 Wraith. It's very light, stylish and powerful. Will finish off most enemies hit by Charge easily. You can even pair it with some heavy pistols (Predator, Phalanx) and keep a +195% recharge bonus. The only problem is the steep price, so be sure to try the Eviscerator a bit and see if like it before investing a fortune on the Wraith.

I used the High Velocity Barrel and Smart Choke mods. Before Omega I was using the High Caliber Barrel.

It's good to have at least one weapon with piercing properties, so if your backup weapon isn't equipped with a piercing mod, consider using the Shredder Mod. The High Caliber Barrel is always useful.

Is the shotgun blade attachment any good?

Only if you melee often. If you don't have the habit of punching your enemies, it's a waste of a slot.

Hmm it really depends on the character and setup to be honest. Like with my Cerberus Defector, I use a Reegar Carbine. But with my Krogan, I use something heavier like the Claymore. Different characters have different weight capacities, so you have to be careful if you want a high recharge rate.

Disciple. Very light and looks awesome. Wraith is also a good choice.

I would say the Claymore and Raider are more suited to the soldier or infiltrator.

Wraith. Extended Barrel and Smartchoke (or Shotgun Spare Ammo).

Or Reegar.  It tears through shields and synthetics.  It has a relatively low weight (similar to the Piranha I but a little lighter) and rapid firing rate.  The down side is that it isn't the best against armor and it has a low clip capacity.
