It ain't an elaboration on why she's Dianna Allers, which is what he said.
(S?)he is saying Bioware gave her the part so their horny teen fans could have a chance to bed the little gaming sex kitten.
If she was unattractive instead of a minx she never would have gotten within a hundred yards of the production studio.
So you're saying Bioware wouldn't hire somene whose unattractive?
This page really isn't helping counter my point about all the paranoia and delusions there seems to be about her.
I'm not saying Bioware never hire unattractive employees. I am saying they would not have gone to the lengths that they went to for Jessica Chobot had she been unattractive - ie, essentially put them in your game for your Shep to have sex with. How many Chobot fans bought ME3 just to sleep with her, I wonder?
I mean, that IS all she's there for, right? Or does Allers have some kind of purpose or character arc that I'm completely missing?

If she was unattractive, she would've never been hired by IGN. Hell, she didn't even apply for the job; a picture of her licking a PSP was floating around the Internet and IGN decided that she would make a great employee. Im
Is that right? Gosh!
However, hiring a presenter at least partly on their appearance is (rightly or wrongly - I'm not judging here) pretty standard.
Crowbaring such a person into your game just to appeal to their adolesent fans just smacks of a cold cynicism. Not to mention a low regard for your chief/target audience.

Yes, but surely there were several attractive candidates applying for the job that Chobot got, and she got that job in no small part due to that photo of her licking a PSP, which also managed to show up in Sony advertising.
And it is obvious that she was put in ME3 to appeal to, not only adolescent fans, but also in the hopes of appealing to the dudebro demographic.

I guess she was a little ugly, but there seems loads of hate at her on the forums.
I didn't know no VA experience qualifies (unless she has shown some that I am unaware of) you to be a VA in a title of ME's caliber. And IGN for that matter, being a gaming related sites with reviews, sketchy, no? I guess she just really inspired Bioware with her voice and they really needed to spend money on her instead of more quality in the "Vanilla Game" for other, more important characters.
Her face is freaking beautiful.

I expected Allers to be a throwaway romance, but somehow I feel that they forgot that Kelly was an LI. Then again, you don't get the achievement for romancing Kelly.

I...think it was more due to the direction of the voice director than Chobot herself.
Contrast for example, her normal speaking lines to when she talks about what happened to Bekenstein...her voice definitely has emotion and you can tell that Allers is affected personally by what happened.
I think the voice direction was that in normal conversations, she was to speak normally as a reporter with no inflection which I think she did...
An example of BAD VA was Martina Sirtis as Benzenia in ME1....have no idea what happened there since Sirtis had already done VO before and was pretty good (bad voice direction as well?)
re: Conflict of interest
Definitely isn't since Chobot and Bioware were upfront about this way before ME3 launched and she doesn't actually do reviews...Not sure exactly what IGN gets from this since there is no reward for IGN/Chobot herself that I can see....
As to why they did it, probabyl marketing thinking it would be cool similar to how Felicia Days got put into DA:MotA.
Chobot apparently is an actual fan of the series (aka she has actually played ME2 ) and somebody thought..."hey it could be cool" and why not.

Yeah, that's not what conflict of interest means: "A conflict of interest (COI) occurs when an individual or organization is involved in multiple interests, one of which could possibly corrupt the motivation for an act in another." - note the absence of "unless they are upfront about it". Whilst you are free to redefine any words in any way you like it is occasionally useful to stick to commonly accepted ones for the sake of meaningful discussion.Definitely isn't [a conflict of interest] since Chobot and Bioware were upfront about this
Publicity? IGN get's in game adverts, ME3 gets a perfect review. Not sure exactly what IGN gets from this since there is no reward for IGN/Chobot herself that I can see....
Because there are millions of other actual fans of the series who have actually played ME2 who are not nominally independent video game critics - why pick her over Joe Random?Chobot apparently is an actual fan of the series (aka she has actually played ME2 ) and somebody thought..."hey it could be cool" and why not.

I honestly didn't see any...
As to why pick her..she's right there and actually open to the idea? I never got the impression that at the beginning of ME3, the writers thought "let's get ign on our side" since as another poster mentioned, was there any chance of ign not giving at least an 8 to ME3?

I don't like her because I felt they shorted us. Emily Wong has earned a place on board the Normandy. Perhaps even as a possible LI. Instead when get this new cow shaped hoochie. Hell I would have taken khalisah bint sinan al-jilani.
I actually love Diana Allers but agree that Emily Wong should have been given the chance to be the Normandy's embedded journalist. However, the best would have been the gorgeous Khalisah

Not to mention her model/voice actor is the most annoying untalented person on the planet.
