That scene pissed me off. Joker can get from the battle above Earth to London in 5 seconds flat, yet can't find the time to pick up Shep who's right there.

That's exactly the reason why people play MEHEM :)

But still totally off the hook considering all of Joker's risky pickups (he took two squadmembers LITERALLY in front of Harbringers nose!).

And then what? Gave up in the most important moment? So don't get it.

The more things they tried to fix with the EC, the more things they broke. See we didn't understand the ending. No, the original ending was broken. We understood it. It was broken.

broken - adj. - disconnected, interrupted, disorganized, confused, not functioning. It was stupid.

It needed to be replaced with a different one that made sense and worked. You didn't need to try to explain things and try to make sense out of something that didn't make any sense. The EC made it more stupid.

They already had broken the record with the "hey we can do the 5 second pick up with a reaper present." So why couldn't they do a 5 second pick up of Shepard then? Because it would be unrealistic? Or because Mac just didn't want to write a Shepard sequel? Oh that's it. I'll shut up now.

We Need to Go - All Squadmates

Kaidan, Vega, and Liara are the best of the bunch IMO.

Always brings a tear to my eye, that scene. And Kaidan's line :(....never had that one before, he is always on the beam run.

Kaidan was the Virmire casualty in my canon playthrough, so I didn't get that line either. But after viewing the vid, I think he has the most emotional delivery of the bunch.

I like the Liara and Vega versions as well because of their more personal interaction with Joker. Liara uses 'Jeff' instead of Joker, and Vega calls him buddy.

What is the alternative?  Stay put and die?  Of all the things to complain about this is one of the worst.

Still wondering how the squadmates I did not choose to go with me ended up on the Normandy. Did they leave after the speech or what?

I assume they were just trying to save their own asses when they bailed, but you'd think maybe at least one of them would say, 'Hey, maybe we should at least send a shuttle to help the guy who's saved everyone of our lives many times over.'

Are they suppose to see Shep buried in rubble from space?  Are they suppose to detect his breath via space magic?

But he doesn't even know where he is. Joker is just going to fly circles around the beam in the hope that without any information this is where Shepard poops out?

My Shepard would have told them to go. Even if FTLing away doesn't make sense, that doesn't mean trying to rescue Shepard would. It's funny that many of the same people that trash the Normandy evac scene also trash the Normandy retreat scene for the opposite reason.

It's simple. Joker wants to stay in the hopes they hear from Shepard but doesn't actually have a plan aside from the emotional "I can't leave the Commander" thought. The others know that they need to get away from the fight because no one has a clue what's going to happen when the thing is activated.

Everyone hopes Shepard survives and lives through it but it's very obviously an 80-90% suicide mission from the get-go.

Hey guys lets fly around and you peek out the window and seen if you can spot Shep buried in rubble from miles away.

I mean I know Garrus is from a bird species but really? Does he magically have an eagle eye that sees through stone and rubble?

Well not going into FTL would make sense. the beam doesn't do that much damage and it's going to affect you anyway. Why run from it?

Attenuation. The further out you are when it finally does hit you the less damage it will do.

Well, now the Anti-Reaper weapon loses a lot of it's effectiveness doesn't it?

I agree and I have to add Javik to that list. But it won't stop me from thinking "Damn it he's right there!"

They probably thought he was dead. Even if you pick Destroy, there was still a massive explosion that would have knocked Shepard out and likely made pickup difficult. Plus, you know, let's try and keep out of the big Reaper killing laser's path.

Damn straight. And the fact a fan made an ending considers better than Bioware by a lot of people shows their epic failure.

Exactly, and giving up goes against not just Joker's personality, but every single one of the characters personalities.  None of them ever want to give up, yet they have the opportunity to get Shepard and they just all drop the ball.  Just another reason why the ending sucked and MEHEM was better.

Even if the Normandy exploded and everyone died on their way to save Shepard on the Citadel, I think I still would have preferred that to them leaving Shepard behind and crash landing on the weirdo planet.  At least in that way it would have stuck with the true character of all the squadmates in having Shepards back.

Oh and they know it doesn't do much damage how exactly? So this thing is going to kill Reapers but magically they know in their heart of hearts it does not affect them. Guess Shep had the convo with the Catalyst on Galactic speaker phones.

Huh?

Both the MEHEM and the EC made that scene stupid. There wasn't really any solid evidence that the Crucible was going to backfire and kill the fleet, and even if it did then all attempts at escaping the blast would have been futile considering the range of the device. Likewise, there was nothing that suggested beforehand that the Citadel would be destroyed and therefore kill Shepard (if he wasn't already dead).

No one had to die. What the fleets could have and should have done was stay clear of collapsing/exploding Reapers. That's it.
