Is everybody fine with this? I am just wondering if any of you have a gamer wife like I do, and find it infuriating with Dragon age and Mass Effect 2 (and Assassins creed 2) that they take out part of the game and include it as "dlc" if you buy it new, but it only works on one of the Xbox profiles. So effectively one of us are going to be screwed out of somehting that should be on the disc anyways, and then whoever get to have the party member will feel like a douche for being able to play it.
I'd Mass Effect, and really wanted to get Dragon Age (but didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money just so I can play the actual full game) and now that I found out they are doing this crap again I might not get Mass Effect 2. So Bioware is there any chance you will actually let your "dlc" work on all profiles? or any way that we can both get the "dlc" short of buying it twice?
Yes I am fine with it. If you enjoy games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, then you should support Bioware and buy new. I completely agree with this practice, as I am very against used game sales, as the developers don't see a dime. I want companies and studios to make money so they can contiue to make great products to entertain me with.
I don't see how anyone can complain about free DLC. It's free.
How was Dragon Age not the full game? My first two play throughs where done without playing any of the DLC. I never felt like it wasn't the full game...I got the complete game, and got my moneys worth. Unless you have actually played the game (which you haven't), there is really no room to speak on the issue.
It's very simple...game companies want to protect their products from used sales. May I ask what you do for a living? Would you be ok if you took the time, and spent millions of dollars to make a product, only to have people buy it second hand from someone else?
Mass Effect 2 is going to an amazing game, and it sucks that you may miss out on it, just because of FREE DLC that comes with a new game. I understand your issue with the profiles...but that seems to be your main issue, as you seem to be willing to buy a new copy, which honestly, Gamestop will sell the game used for 50-55 dollars for the xbox, so you pay full price, and you get some bonus content...sounds like a win win to me. If your issue is with the profile thing, then you should have made your post about that, not that the game isn't complete. The game will be fully playable, beatable and very very complete with or without the DLC.

You're going to hate gaming in general pretty soon if you feel this way. More and more developers are going to provide incentives like this in order to intice more people to buy the games new instead of picking them up used later on.
Anyway, if Dragon Age is any indication, it'll work for all of the profiles. Besides, just have your wife log in with your EA/Bioware profile whenever she plays, and it'll work out fine.

I ain't gonna complain for free launch DLC for buying the games new. I just wish more companies would do this sort of thing for buying new copies of their games. Dragon Age did it with the Stone Prisoner DLC & The Sabotuer did it as well for their launch DLC. It seems Mass Effect 2 will as well. That to me is a win situation.
Its only a win situation if you have the money to pre-order and get it on launch day for full price. Sure if you can go enjoy your free dlc but for the guy who can't afford it on release day has to wait a few weeks has to get it
pre-owned oh but he can still get the day 1 dlc on live for 1200 to 2400 MS points Yeah thats a win situation.

On launch day for DA:O their were literally hundreds and hundreds of shale/blood armour cards for sale in both physical digital forms ( from actual game retailers or ebay shops ), usually around the $1-$3 price range - plenty of people i know just went with this option.
May sound a little dodgy but theirs nothing that stops any game retailer from opening up games and taking out the code cards and selling them seperate ( its actually pretty common for game shops to open up games on release dates just so they can sell them for a few $ less as 'used' )

I for one support strong developers and want them to be profitable. If curbing used games helps Bioware make more profit.. I say good. The more resources Bioware has, the more they can continue to make quality games to entertain me.
I've been a loyal consumer of Bioware games since Baldur's Gate 1.. I've bought every game they ever made. I shall continue to do so.
The fact they are a Canadian developer is also a plus, I derive a small sense of national pride due to them

If its on the same Xbox it should work with every Gamertag on that Xbox.

I'm glad to hear that. Ya'll need to scrounge up every scrap of pride you can, and then hoard it. Hoard the hell out of it.

Well I Specifically meant Shale, and this new character for ME2 that were taken out of the game for this type of marketing. Which were taken out of the main game then used "fully integrated into the main storyline" as a + to the dlc![]()
Shale was put back into the game because of the delay. They had extra time which they didn't before.

Thats your own fault, buy it new and you would have gotten the DLC for free. ITs day 1 DLC doesn't mean only launch day you would get it free. SHould be buying the game new it supports great developers to continuing do so with buying second hand you are not supporting them. THis is a way to attack second hand buying and it seems to be sticking atleast with EA.
