No and no OP. ME 1 is just fine as it is, there is no need to "upgrade" it to ME2/3 gameplay.

I'd like to see mass effect 1 updated for sure, and with the romance options updated to reflect the options in mass effect 3 (bi kaidan for example).

Naaah, but they could do a DLC for ME1 with some improvement, like more Objects in maps so the Citadel and other places looks more interesting, and meybe some improved character models.

But thats about it, keep the overheating weapons, as it he become a part of the ME history, but they could change the GamePad Layout, to be more like in Me2 and 3, so we can map more then only 1 power on the gamepad.

Combat definitely yes for ME1 and with that included a special trigology Ed for the next generation consoles would be cool. The combat and graphics would be seamless between all three games.Actually you could make the special Edition as a kind of DLC when you buy ME4

I'd like to see it, but not enough to pay for it. Not gonna happen anyway, so what's the point of this thread.

I very much so miss having my teabag button ... er i mean 'crouch button' from ME1. Would be nice to have it in ME3 or ME4.

I'd like to see it, I'd like to see any official playable addition to the Mass Effect universe. However, it would also take away the distinct feeling of 'evolution' within the series. With that in mind, I'd rather not see the upgrade.

I've been wanting to do a playthrough of the entire series, but the gameplay of ME1 has just been so offputting that it never get's off the ground. So I would love a remake like this, especially if the "aesthetic" style of armour customisation were carried over to companions as well, so that there would be more variety than simply reskinned Identical models

Yes, I'd like to see it. Mass Effect is a terrific game, but the gameplay (the combat mechanics and inventory management in particular) is what holds it back, IMO. It's totally fine as it is, but it's definitely less fun to play than the following two games. In my opinion, at least.

It would take reprogramming of the entire game. I don't think it is a possibility.

That was once the dream. ME1 with ME2's engine and graphics, ME2's gameplay and a streamlined inventory which was much more user friendly. Then ME3 happened and I began to think "what's the point, ME3 ruins anything that came before it anyway". The PS3 port of ME1 was the final nail in the coffin of that dream, after all the time, trouble and money that Bioware and EA went through to get the rights publishing rights to ME1 and all the troble they had porting it to the PS3 I thought "why not update re-make instead of porting it, you know to fix those things we have always complained about". Obviously it wasn't worth Bioware's time or effort.

Sounds to me like OP didn't play the series in order. I bet you started with 2, 3 then went back to the first and couldn't enjoy it.

Sucks to be you.

Absolutely not.

I feel bad for the people who played ME2/3 before ME1. ME1 imo, easily is the best of the three games and it's unfortunate people are used to how ME2/3 play and can't stand ME1.

Couldn't agree more.

The fact that the game exists suggests that this in fact possible - we might just get ME:EE for iPad 14 in ten years time...

I'd be perfectly fine with them keeping the original as is but just touching up the code so it can run better on newer PC's

Other than a fix to Garrus' face...I would leave ME 1 alone.

Nope ME1 is just fine as it is. I like customisable armour on my companions.

terribly disguised troll post, ME1 combat mechanics are absolutely ghastly.

to the OP, sure, but it will never happen. stupid not to happen because ME1 has the most iconic, immersive storyline out of all 3 and would 100% benefit from an upgraded look. Ilos is already breath-taking as it is and would be even more epic if graphically upgraded to match ME3. but then again gaming developers aren't known for their business-savvy models.

Not at all and I explained why in another post in this thread, you must have skipped it.

A quick summery for your benefit. I prefer the combat system in the first because I like how I always have options available as a biotic.

In ME2 and ME3 an Adept is far too often reduced to sitting behind chest high walls spamming biotic combos. As much as I enjoy those combos, I'd happily give them up to have the freedom of power/weapon choice from the first game given back to me.

Plus in the first game I never once entered cover when I didn't mean to.

That's not to say things couldn't be improved on however. The big thing I would have liked was the dice roll being more involved in the shooting aspect, with it taking into account where you were aiming on an enemy. Aim for the head for bigger damage but increase the risk of a miss.

Inventory definitely needed Dragon Aging with multiple items combined into one entry.

ME3 gameplay plus the armor customisation of ME1 please.

I agree that would be more enjoyable.

There are things about ME1 that are simply unfixable. Bad story, lame antagonist, shallow characters, the whole concept of empty MAKO levels... it would take a significant rewrite, re-recording of voice acting, new level design, taking out the useless crap like the stores and implementing ME2's gun system etc.

Not to mention implementing ME2's superior skill and power upgrade system, cover-based shooting, graphics....

It's simply not worth it to try and improve an old game like that. ME1 is so fundamentally flawed and ME2 is superior in every way - the definitive ME game, and ME1 is just a failed experiment. I would rather they focus on new ME games. I think it's easier to build up a new game from scratch that to try and fix an old one.

I did play ME1 first by the way = I even finished it about 5 times. Then ME2 rolled around and I have about 15 complete play-throughs now.

Please do it the other way around, ME2 and 3 with real RPG mechanics
