Right, killer, if you're using it on host and not liking it, I got no advice.

But, if there's one change you make to your ini. files, it should be turning the graal / GPS / projectile weapons "clientpredictprojectile" to false.

Basically, this means the visual effect of the projectile is synchronised with the actual "logic" thread portion, when the game isn't predicting where the projectile is firing.... before it actually fires. Off-host GPS means the visual effect is always (insert your latency here) miliseconds before the actual logic thread component, so you can't aim it using visuals except on host, ergo; telling it to NOT predict the projectile fixes this.

If you are playing off-host, the projectiles fire instantly, but the logic thread component is delayed by latency... which is f*cking stupid, as projectile weapons require a visual effect to be able to aim them properly.

Shooting and having the visual / weapon effect not in sync (Hey, I hit that dude but I did no damage, lolwut?) is actually a lot worse than having a solid 100 ms delay on the projectile firing after you click the trigger... one is easy to predict as the shot you fired is the one that deals damage, the other is impossible to predict as the visual projectile isn't sync'd with the projectile in the logic thread.

Wait, are you saying there's a single coalesced edit that can be made to fix the off-host projectile weapons problem?

And it wasn't done in 12 months of balance changes.

Mind=blown.

The venom is the best for trolling your team mates. That screen shake always makes me nauseous.

It's true that it could use a buff. Yet it's still so much fun that I use it far more than many other weapons :)

No, ISHY, it's not going to "fix" it.

All it will do, is actually link the LOGIC effect with the actual visual effect.

Projectile weapons (unless you use stagger powers) still require a certain amount of target leading; but I play UT far too much to be able to stand projectile weapons optimised so the visual effect precedes the logic effect.... because that makes them 100% impossible to aim effectively off host.

I saw this black GI on PS3 using a Venom IV and he absolutely destroyed Cerberus with it. It was so insane it wasn't even funny. I think he ended up scoring as much as the rest of us combined, and I'm the one who typically does that.

What, you got a problem because he was black? Is that a crime now, bein' black on Ps3? Huh, son!?!

I meant fixed to the extent that you could compensate for the rest of it by leading.

If he was the host he can do 3x better with GPS.
If he was off-host, Venom might have been better than GPS.

I'd use mine more if I... actually had one.

Actually, given the stats, I'd probably just use the Piranha. If I want range, I wouldn't be using a shotty anyway.

The Venom is not that bad, maybe the reason is that many people did not even unlock the weapon...

How dare somebody not be able to aim, especially with a weapon that doesn't sync properly so you can't actually see where your bullets are hitting. PC player should be able to aim using nothing but the force.

In my cycle, this was punishable by death.

The Venom Shotgun still sucks. I believe this game could have been 3-5 minutes shorter if I used a Wraith, Claymore, Piranha, Raider, Reegar, aka any shotgun that is actually decent.

This makes perfect sense; the Venom Shotgun sucks because there are other weapons which are better. The logic is undeniable. Good job TKA.

I know you're being sarcastic, but when it's outclassed by many weapons of the same class and lower rarity it can justifiably be called a **** weapon. When there are weapons that fulfill the same role while being easier to use and having superior features it becomes a relatively weak choice. Does the Venom suck compared to the Shuriken? No, but that's not my point. It has very poor value when compared to its peers.

Weak area of effect, low accuracy, slow rate of fire, goes straight through Cloaked Geth Hunters...

I can kind of make the gun useful on an AIU with Incindiary ammo, but otherwise the weapon is way to heavy for something so ineffective.

Of course it's not going to be great on Reaper Platinum. It's a weapon designed to be anti-mook.    It does well vs. Cerberus units.  Being relatively bad vs. boss units is a problem with just about all projectile weapons because 3/4 of the true bosses have multiple hit bugs.

Yeah. People who say their Destroyers having hard time against Phantom DR should take Venom as secondary weapon just to teach Phantoms some lessons.

Multi Frags own phantoms pretty hard, and the scorpion handles them better than the Venom does.
