There has been so much negativity and snippy attitudes on BSN lately, I wanted to try and combat that with a positive thread. Since, unfortunately, the original thread by my friend Creepter got locked due to unfortunate timing in bumping it (happened when a ton of threads were getting locked due to necromancy), I'm reviving it.

Please do share your fun/happy/funny stories of games with friends, PUGs that pleasantly surprised you, or even just the little things that this game does to make you smile.

I have a short story from tonight that made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I was leveling up my Soldier class and working on Juggernaut extractions for Reckoning. So, I put on some level I consumables and Quick Matched for U/U/G. Landed in a Geth/Gold room with an Asari Huntress who looked about as experienced as me, judging by loadout and challenge points. She readied up immediately and I did as well. Then, an N7 74 Human Male Soldier entered, followed shortly by an N7 154 Turian Sentinel. The Sentinel at least had a gear on and the N7 74 had nothing, but that wasn't surprising since he likely doesn't have much yet at that level.

What followed was a relatively nice game. The Asari and I were ahead in points by a large amount, but the other two were trying their best and helping on objectives, so no leeching. But what put me in a good mood was the N7 74 Soldier. See, the Huntress ran around doing her own thing (as she should, IMO). The Turian Sentinel hung out near my healing turret providing cover fire from the sniper's nest of Dagger. The newbie Soldier hung out near the Sentinel for maybe the first wave, but then decided to cling to my side the rest of the match.

That's now the second time a newbie has actively shadowed me. I'm still not entirely sure why he chose me, unless he either recognized my PSN name from here or just figured I was easier to follow than the Huntress. But it was pretty cool turning around and seeing him there trying to help me kill stuff. We made a good little team. Anytime his shields went down, I popped my healing turret up for him. If we had heavy Prime fire, I'd put up my hex shield so he could duck behind it (or me) when needed as I PPR'd All The Things. If I heard a Hunter unloading on him, I'd spin around and either Siege Pulse or heavy melee the critter to save him. And he stood there and "guarded" me during some of the devices on Wave 6.

Was quite neat, actually. I felt like The Iron Giant with my little soldier newbie friend to protect. We made full extraction too, no less.

Good mood. What about you, BSN? What has you in a good mood tonight? (besides FateNeverEnds getting engaged - congrats, good sir!)

Playing with BSNers is always a grand experience (wish I could do it more often though). And the few times I've played with good PUGs were always a blast. I remember this one time we all played as different Krogans. I was worried I had pulled a muscle from laughing so hard!

One time i had a pretty bad time (getting berated on BSN. The usual) And then this awesome chick messaged me, and we had a great conversation about how not all of BSN is like that, and those things happen from time to time, and it will pass. It really helped me feel accepted in to the community.

Other than that, i just moved home from college today. Double edged sword, but it has me in a different mindset.

Seeing a PuG players using Cobra missile (a.k.a Rocket) always puts me in a good mood.
At least I know that one other player is there to put up his own fight.

Many of bad PuG players smart up during a game. Once they see that you are doing most killing & capable of carrying, they will take full advanrage of that.

Volusing the crap out of stuff always puts me in a good mood.

Also, running into people who recognize me. It's gotten quite regular as of late, which is really weird considering my PSN and BSN are two different things (Even though my PSN is in my signature). One such event happened when I was playing with a guy who had a mic, but he wasn't using it until we completed the match, and when we got back to the lobby he came out of nowhere and said "YO SWORDSRULE, LEMME SEE DAT VANGOD"

I was happy to oblige his request.

Got dropped into a silver match the other day where everyone was downed. I knew things were not going too well as soon as I heard that I was being shot at before the match even loaded, but... I was playing Juggy. So, immediately I'm surrounded on Giant by a couple of possessed Collectors and some regular mooks. I pop out my turret and start force choking. This is wave 2? Guys, really? I take care of that bunch and everyone's revived. I have a bad feeling about this. The game does not go well and we wipe in a late wave. Maybe 8 or 9. Then, they kick me. :crying:

I get a little depressed thinking, GEEZ, I'm not so awful that I can't clutch a simple silver wave am I? I did manage 2 Gold solos and I've solo'd Silver at least 5 times, and Bronze... I don't know how many.

So, I step up to Gold to prove to myself that I really am just not that good. :?

The match went great, everyone did their part, I wasn't carried, I even revived a Krogan Warlord a few times and we got a full extraction. Made me feel quite a bit better about myself.

tl;dr When things are going really bad, play 1 more match.

I'm always in a good mood when people headbutt/melee back and join in when I melee things.

For some reason I have had the most luck in getting Furies to melee back.

When I am joining a game in progress and as soon as I can actually see anything, I see someone standing there defending my defenseless body while I was loading. That just puts me in a good frame of mind for the rest of the match.

Whenever asari justicars run over and put their bubble over me when I'm hacking a device puts me in a good mood.

Being able to successfully nuke banshees right after they grab a team mate for the last minute save.

Getting lots of headshots. It's so satisfying. My aim is normally very average, but two days ago with the Saber I got 20 headshots before 25 kills.

Saving team mates from any sync killer is always nice. And kind of rare, unless it's a Banshee.

I enjoy when people come into my lobby and change from their tech character into a Biotic one.

Full Biotic lobbies

Full Geth lobbies

PUGs putting on equipment

These are a few of my favorite things ♫

A relaxing Gold game... Though, I haven't experienced that in a month... I guess I need to change my playtime to suit those of the people who know what they are doing... Time to gather data!

Every time I beat Saints in reviving him before he can gel.

Also that one time I was clubbing everything to death as a Krolord with my two Volus backup dancers.

Getting 20 HeadShots with the Javelin. My aim is horrible:sick::sick::sick:

Not seeing Juggs or AIU's on a lobby that I'm in.

Yesterday we finally did the Boom Squad thing and: lo and behold! Everybody had a mic and actually talked! We had mission relevant chatter, light banter, lots of biosplosions and Asari heavy meleegasms.

Normally I only play with one or two friends, nobody has teamspeak or skype or whatever, so banter only happens via text-chat so as not to scare off the pugs. Which means mostly when you think of something funny you either don't bother or you pay dearly for standing still like a dolt while typing in a hurry.

tl;dr: It was glorious and funny and begs to be repeated! Playing is silver, talking is gold! :P

Gotta love it when PUGs synergize with me (I prime, they detonate or other way around).

It's pretty cool when Jug's/Justicars put down a shield/bubble on you when doing the devices objective. Thanks, broham!

Also, Glacier/Geth/Gold with the Krolord, nuff said

I love it when I enter a random game and I see a biotic. So I change to another biotic, with different powers. Then another random player joins and I see him switch to another Adept/VG.

Rarely happens, but when it happens...
