Hi, in ME2 I used Flash's modding tutorial to make a realistic damage mod. I did this by modding the insanity difficulty multipliers;

I increased Shepard, the squadmates, and the enemies damage multipliers, and decreased their power cooldowns (this was an attempt to counter the shared cooldown by simply getting rid of cooldown, as i didnt know how to get rid of shared cooldown)

I also got rid of ammo, to simulate old ME1 cooling tech, stopped shields from blocking powers, and allowed damage to carry on after the shield broke - I.E: If you had 5 points of shield and 100 points of health, and attack doing 30 damage would now do 5 shield damage and 25 health damage, rather than 5 sheild damage and then stopping damaging. And gave enemies regenerating shields.

I posted a thread with the ini attached ages ago in the ME forum, but I cant find it, anyone know how I would? As most of these changes only affected insanity difficulty, it was still mostly possible to play the game on other difficulties as normal.

Basically what im asking is, is it possible to do something like this in ME3? I've looked in a modding thread here on  BSN, but couldnt see it. I've downloaded the bin-ini editor, which allowed me to get Javik without downloading the from Ashes DLC, so I think I can edit the ini with that, hwoever Im not sure what to edit or where.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

EDIT: This is my ME3 mod progress so far, remember to backup your coalesced.bin before replacing. Paste it into your C:\\Program Files\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\BIOGame\\CookedPCConsole and set ingame difficulty to insanity:

Actually, here is my old thread for my ME2 mod, I found it!

http://social.biowar...8/index/7957268

Note that this mod is now a little out of date, I've upgraded it since then.

I did some experiments on my own, and think Ive figured out how to do realistic damage, heres the coalesced ini if anyone wants to take a look, or play around with it, just backup your current coalesced.bin in Biogame/cookedpc and replace it with this. Its set to work on insanity mode. Hardcore mode and casual should still work as normal, but normal mode will be a bit messed up as I used it for testing.

I havnt figured out how to remove shared cooldown, or cooldown in general, or give infinite ammo, Or anything else really. So if anyone could help me with that Id appreciate it.

Cheers.

Well, I've done stuff similar, where I amped up damage on both teams (Especially your teammates, since they are so weak with their restrictors)
Other than that, I kept all of the cooldowns and shield gate... :P Maybe I should see how your doing it.

I know its possible to fix cooldowns at their minimum with a minor coalesced edit.  The ME wiki lists where to do that as I can't remember off the top of my head.

For unlimited ammo, I never really looked into that as I always found ammo to be extremely plentiful in ME3.  However there is a line under the specific weapons in the coalesced "binfiniteammo = false".  Perhaps you can just change the value to true and then have unlimited ammo?

Ah thats very interesting, personally I have reduced health for all enemies, and increased their damage. I did not see another way to do it as I could not find a way to increase the damage shepard did, although if I had, it would have been a much easier method.

I wanted to remove cooldowns because they are frankly unfitting. You dont see anyone with a cooldown in a cutscene do you? They are slinging their powers around like Jedi! They are also unrealistic: Using my omi tool means I cant use my biotics... really? And unfun - "Wooo cool space powers, oh, now i need to sit down for 10 seconds before I can have fun again." of course in my ME2 mod where I reduced cooldown, I reduced it for enemies aswel, to keep it fair.

You said you did not remove cooldown, does this mean you know how to? Could you tell me?

Im also looking for help on how to make powers damage all tpes of protection, as I do not think it is realistic that Biotics (for instance) are stopped by shields, and again, you dont see that in the cutscenes.

In my ME2 mod I had realistic damage, almost no cooldown (some cooldown left to stop barrier making you invincible!) infinite ammo (I really didnt believe the military would get rid of guns that never ran out of ammo - just RPd heat sink ejection as like the gun cooling) which balanced the reduced cooldown, powers damaging through shields, enemy shields recharging, no shield gate, ect. And all equal for shepard, the squad, and enemies.

Well I found how to reduce cooldown in a thread on hear, changing the encoubrance rates so you get 100% encumbrance bonus, but that only works for shepard, anyone know how to make it work for squadmates too? I also saw the bit on the wiki about turning infinite ammo to "true" in the sfxweapon section, but it doesnt seem to work.

Makin progress but its slow, anyone got any ideas on how to make powers damage all protections?

Been testing out your mod in ME2 and now in ME3. ME2 is flawless, great job there. ME3 is also pretty good, just needs a few tweaks here and there. It's missing the citadel dlc part though...any chance that you could come around and finish it, or post a tutorial for us? Cheers!

Let me tell you...back in the days of Quake II, there was a friend who complained about unrealistic damage of weapons. So another friend, a programmer, made a mod with realistic damage.

It was epic.

However, what ended up happening is everybody simply ran around with starting shotguns, as they did enough damage to kill people. If you were silly enough to pick up something such as a rocket launcher, there was a good chance you were killing yourself along with your enemy. In fact, you probably killed yourself more often.

So...can't wait to hear the tales! :D

So far the most annoying thing that happened to me in-game with this mod Kel was during the Mars mission. The cerberus  doc mech would kill me instantly while I was climbing a ladder up haha.

But overall, this mod adds a certain thrill to the game (both ME2 and ME3), makes things more tactical
