And so many others - it's impossible to choose. I would love to see Aveline (a voice of normality), all LI (they are all very bright characters), Sten, Shale - exotic and interesting... No, too many to count.

But I can say who I DO NOT want to see (nor as characters, nor as archetypes): Sebastian and Nathaniel. Maker, please, leave them in the past!

I only need 1, the crazy hermit from Origins, its always a party with the crazy hermit! Besides the guy always wanted to see the grand cathedral and since our travels will most likely take us to Orlais perhaps we can work something out?

I probably prefer characters that havne't been companions before.

1. Cassandra (Her Nevarran background, possible conflict with other Seekers, relationship with Leliana and connection to the Divine make her interesting.)
2. Cullen.  (I think his moderation at towards the end of DA2 makes him potentially interesting.)
3. Stroud.  (I think it would be good to have a Grey Warden in the party again.  And he's probably seen some noteworthy things.)

Feynriel could be cool since he's a dreamer, but I have an easier time imagining him in a later game than DA3.  If a returning character was used I can imagine interesting changes (as in believable psychological change due to getting older and going through new things) in Leliana, Isabela to bring them back.  As for Varric, I'd have no qualms about him returning even he was the same as before since he's just so likable as he his.  Characters like Morrigan and Alistair and Loghtain are cool, but I have an easier time imagining them as significant players in the game's story than as companions for the main character.

Umm... I'd stretch it at 3. I suppose probably Morrigan but doubt that'd happen and I'd rather have a new character to be honest.

But Sigrun and Leliana I'd take over new characters even, so long as they don't get a total personality makeover like Anders from DA:A to DA2.

That's just good times waiting to happen. Gregoir trying to fit Flemeth into a worldview where he doesn't try to kill her on sight, Flemeth laughing at him and being infuriatingly Flemeth, and Varric writing smut books about the forbidden love between a Knight Commander and the Witch of the Wilds.  "Forbidden Love: A Knight in the Wilds".  This stuff almost writes itself.
