Is it $10 per month or $10 extra per month? $10 per month for 2 years would be a pretty ok deal if you were going to buy a subscription anyway.

Well, I assume it'd be $10 a month for having the console, but you'd still need to pay for Xbox Live Gold if you plan to play multiplayer with friends and such. Thats $50 a year at its cheapest, I think.

Assuming a Gold account is $50 a year, that added to $120 a year for having a subscription model Xbox Infinity, you'd end up paying about $170 a year for two years just to have a console that can allow you to play with others all over the world.

I'd rather just save up $500, pay that at once with no subscription, and then pay for Xbox Live Gold as usual. $50 a year.

So, the way it looks, assuming you want XBL Gold-

A. $500 at once+$50 a year for XBL Gold
B. $300 at once+$120 a year for two years+$50 a year for XBL Gold

I'd rather deal with the bulk of it at once.

He isn't the first person in the industry to do this, the Wii U is a joke.

So, does the Wii-U count as a really late current gen console or next gen?

Because I see it as a really late current gen console that I don't care about.

It's current gen. The next consoles will blow it out of the water and even they'll have dated hardware at launch.

Going by a pure dictionary definition term, it is 'next gen'. Going by the common tech lingo, it's debated. It seems to be in the middle to me tech wise, but some Eternal Darkness vid out there claims it's right up there with 'next gen' graphics.

Wii-U seems to be a confusing animal. Silicon Studio devs claim they have near reached the consoles max power, which may be another bad sign, maxing out so early.

I didn't realize next gen was tied to graphical power.

I thought it was tied to not only graphical advancement but also the time of release. The Wii U is a part of the 8th generation of consoles along with the PlayStation 4, Xbox "WhateverThey'reCallingIt", Vita, and 3DS because of the graphical improvement over its predecessor as well as being released at a time that's near the end of the current generation/into the beginning of the next. That's how I've been looking at it for a long time anyway. It may not be as graphically impressive as people want it to be but the Wii U officially marked the beginning of a new generation of gaming systems.

I have a Wii U. Don't know how it is, since I haven't opened it yet. Got it as a Xmas gift. All I can say is that that person blew a few hundred bucks.

It's certainly not "next gen" as you'll soon see third party releases dry up as times goes on due to it's outdated hardware.

It was the same with how a 360 from '05 or a PS3 from '06 could play a game released in '12 like Borderlands 2 or Tekken Tag 2 but not that POS Wii due it being just an overclocked gamecube with an internet connection and gimmick controller.

Can I have it? Like seriously. If it wasn't for the 3DS next to me I'd be in the sixth generation as far as gaming is concerned. I sold my Xbox 'cause it sucks.

It's next generation in name only, I don't even think it beats current gen hardware. That and the gimmicky controller (didn't they learn their Wii lesson?) means we'll see no third-party support because they can't easily port the game from the other platforms.

Nintendo's only strength is first-party support being great, it'll certainly help with shipping more boxes but it won't make the console go from being a failure to a success. Casuals were the life-blood of the Wii and they're not picking Wii-U up and they probably don't even know what first-party is.

Gimmicks should be like the Kinect / PS Move and remain completely seperate from the console.

It's unopened because I pretty much forgot it existed until literally right just now.

I had the biggest "oh boy, oh boy, what I get..... oh...." moment ever. Too bad no one was around to see it.

I actually have a copy of ME3 for the Wii U. I almost opened it just to see how bad the Genesis 2 comic would be, but decided I didn't want to deal with that crap.

Just before release of WiiU I felt pretty optimistic about it. I  envisioned this core gamer - oriented All Stars machine of sorts; console which gets a sick ton of GOTY,Special Edition,Director's Cut Ultra Remix type of releases out of each and every most succesful multiplatform title within last half a decade or so. Clearly it wasn't ment to be.  Launch Window offered an incrredibly bleak view and looks like immediate future is worse still.  Tis odd Nintendo manages such a massive flop.

I thought the WiiU was more powerful than the Xbox360 but would lag well behind the Xbox720 and PS4?

I doubt it. At least, it sure hasn't convinced anyone if you look at most ports. I think Need For Speed is the only game on the Wii U that looks noticeably better than the 360/PS3 version.

Wrong. Adam Orth called out all of the internet trolls and haters on being pretentious tools. That doesn't make him one. "Deal with it" is a perfectly fine response to children crying about unconfirmed rumors. He shouldn't have done it as an official employee, but that doesn't make the idea wrong.

I'm sorry, I had to lol. There is a difference between deal with it and his mindset towards individuals who live in areas or can't afford to have their internet be priority, let alone be top-notch, regardless of rumors being true or not, his wording is just bad vibes all around.

I think so X looks pretty damn good. Doesn't really matter to me though I have a PC. Image IPB

I'll probably get a Wii U next year since Panic Mode Nintendo is the best Nintendo. Just look at the lineup for the 3DS this year. It's incredible.

Will be getting a Wii U if Shin Megumi Tensei X Fire Emblem turns out awesome. Besides... I always wanted to take that pad a test drive on my toilet. You can't do that with the other systems now can you?
