Yeah, it seems the gold PUGs are generally no better than silver PUGS. The difference is that I don't have to carry their sorry @sses in silver (pardon me). Gold+ is way more fun with friends.

No, all the good players aren't in silver. Many bad players are in silver and many bad players are in gold. It's only noticable because the latter is more difficult. Anybody can look good on lolsilver.

Btw guys, next time I want a tech squad game, biotic squad is getting boring ...

Isn't that just every other game out there?

But hey why not?  Remind us.

Silver makes crappy gold players look decent.

True.  I'm a scrub that considers it a good game if I have 2/3 the score of the #1 person in gold.  I dropped into a silver game earlier today, on wave 4, and ended up with high score.

I can sympathize with the op. I keep running into the noobs like it's going out of style. There are very few of them that even attempt to stay with the team and do objectives. One example of this was recently I was doing a gold pug and the host had only a level 1 striker and one of the common weapons (don't remember which one), and he did his hardest to try and keep up. I was my bling-scorpion SI going around proxy mining everything. While the lunkhead GI on my team didn't even have the proxy mine. We had Glacier hazard. We were lucky to make wave 10 and got the escort done. Although I think I ended up using a lot more gels than I would have liked. I think that the reason the people with maxed manifests migrating to silver is for the reasons you stated op. Less stressful games, and silver players know their limits. Also, the noobs in gold want to be carried and they want the bigger payout over silver. Pretty much the same reason I don't plat anymore.

I do mot believe thst there os something wrong in playing silver.

With fulltime job and fulltime family (3 kids) I do not remotely get the time to play this game as much as I want to. When I get the chance I mostly play silver for a fun, enjoyable and laidback gaming experience. On silver you still have to proove some kind of skill and knowledge to the game and everyone can come along and play whatever kit and use whatever weapon without being kicked (exept leachers or People that cannot do a polite conversation on the mic). Fortunately I believe that the leaching problem is far bigger on gold and plat than on silver due to the credit issue.

I can solo silver and carry If necessary. Can almost solo gold and Have played a few gold PUGs but my, at the moment, limited experience with gold PUGs is not that great. I believe that I can make the team effort on gold with the weapons available in my manifest ( i use consumables), but my experience is that the good gold players is less tolerant of newcomers and will often rather kick someone for trying to use a Harrier 1 than teaching the ways of a higher playing level (more interested in credit harvesting)

The stories (rants and complaints of the gold PUGs) just confirms this. This is why I stick to silver (and hopefully is one of those players that lifts the experience for others playing silver), instead of playing more gold at the moment. Just don't have enough friends right now for the "fun gold adventure" when i eventually get some playtime, so I just use the gaming time i have to get the most out of this game.

That's why I'm a silver surfer!!

Btw the best mp game I have played ever!! Will play as long as possible before servers closes. :-)

not gonna lie ive been a bit busy as well. i try to play with people i know if im not in a pug already.
ive been having to carry gold pugs more and more lately. im ok but when the other 3 people are bad....yeah 1 guy can only carry so much!

so i wont lie, ive been a sliver surfer a bit more lately:whistle:

I mainly play Gold. But I'll use Silver to lvl up kits or test builds. As for Gold pugs. I haven't really had too many problems. Silver seems about the same as its always been to many.

Are you guys bothering to read the OP at all? Specifically the part that mentions level X weapons and use of consumable equipment?

That sounds a whole lot better than the average Gold PUGger these days with their Phalanx II with an empty mod slot...

People who run around with maxed manifests in silver aren't good players.  Most are scrubs who know they still cant carry gold even with level x urs and lvl3 consumables.  Grind the challenges in gold everything but the waves goes faster anyway.

Sorry, but this is BS.  I've been in several Silver games this weekend with some very good players.  They know where the spawns are, how to control them, how to do the objectives intilegently, how to wait for a revive instead of ragegelling.  One PUG I stuck with for 4 matches because they were very good, we were flying through matches in 12-13 minutes.  Compare that to the 32 minute marathon that I just finished on Hazard Glacier.  I had to clutch 2 waves and another guy and I carried the others.  The host even quit (or disconnected) on wave 9.

The point is that I have been running into very good team tactics in Silver PUGs this weekend, and normal Gold frustration.

Of course the Gold matchs with BSN folks have been smooth as 18 year old scotch. :D

Silver is easier no arguement there.  Players who play silver with level x urs and lvl 3 equipment is not something I can respect.  Had a friend who once he maxed manifest always wanted to do easy silver runs.  He's off the FL now. If I do play silver its with a lvl 1 adept or something I know will suffer alot on gold and I equip a crap gun so the noobs can still get some kills.    Being able to decimate silver doen't mean you can do it on gold I moved up to gold becuase I was tearing silver apart it still took me a month to get out of last place in gold.  You stating all the good players are in silver makes me laugh.  Gold and silver aren't the same you'll never convince me otherwise.  The enemies are slower don't hit as hard and are easier to kill.  This makes anyone look better than they are.  You also dont have to deal with say 4 phantoms at once on silver or always having 2 banshees, atlases, primes or praetorians running around.  Wave 10 silver isnt half as hard as wave 3 of gold.  It would be more accurate of you to say the silver players at least know how to play silver not that only silver has good players.

I'm sorry but the "I only play Gold/Platinum therefore those who don't are not good players" is complete crap. I made the decision to stick to the upper two levels as a challenge to myself. But if you don't have enough decent players on your friends list PUGing Gold can be a pain in the arse.

Sure if you're good enough you can carry the game, but you may want to play this for fun and don't want to solo 3/4 waves. So I don't see any reason to look down on those who want to enjoy the game and play Silver which is less stressful, the lobbies fill up faster and enough people still find it fun.

I have maintained based on my experience, Silver has always had some of the best players who played as a team in this game. It's rare that I run a silver game but sometimes I will drop in for a game or two and see what's up, always quality games, it's funny but silver players use equipment, help with objectives far better than the gold pugs I play.

Months ago if friends were not on and I wasn't to the point where I could carry a gold pug, I would play a silver game, if it went well I would suggest we run gold, those were some of the best games I played.

I believe it is true a large number of longer term players have moved on or they just don't want the frustration with gold pugs so they play silver, many are working on their BOB I suspect also, then you have the group in gold and platinum that want the toys quick yet have no clue how to play, they don't equip and they have nothing to loose if the game falls apart on wave 4.

Try Platinum PUGs.

Then you'll miss Gold PUGs.

There was a N7 16 in a Gold game yesterday, and I told him that I think he will not enjoy playing Collector/Gold due to his low level, and he left the lobby. I was pretty surprised. I think a lot of randoms just randomly look for games with much thought.

Yeah cos all the noobs and experienced players are trying to get into gold too early wanting to run before they can walk.. Gold pugs are getting painful. Its at the point i leave every 3rd lobby i join or put an X on every third that joins! Id only play silver on a character below 8 now. And havent played silver in about 4 months..

Mandatory "challenge points/N7 rank does not constitute skill".

But the number of bronze scrubs/new players invading silver lately has been horrifying.

I agree with you sabreracer.I've been reading the forums for awhile and it cracks me up how often you see someone insulting another person for not being as good as them. Don't get me wrong there is a difference in the difficulty level between gold and silver, but what, a person is a scrub because they don't feel like dealing with new players on gold and would rather relax and play silver? So you're really good at a video game, that's great, congrats, send me your address and I'll mail you a cookie. To insult someone because they're not at your level in a VIDEO GAME, just shows that you may be good with the games, but you lack skill on how to me a decent human being.

Tried it. Had to end up soloing waves 7 and 8 with no equipment (I was dropped into a game in progress at wave 1). Never again.

Was pretty challenging and fun, though. Would definitely do it again (preferably with equipment).
