Also, I despise the Dalatrass and keeping Wrex alive gives marginally more War Assets than Wreav, as well as giving the Tuchanka missions a more positive atmosphere.

I have killed him on Virmire and even let Ashley kill him. That was cool.
Why did I kill him? The game lets me and I wanted to. It gives me another reason to do another playthrough. Now I let him live so I can kill him in ME3.
Playing renegade is so much fun.

The only choice in the trilogy worse than killing Wrex is killing Mordin on Tuchanka.

All my other playthroughs I make sure to make the right choices to avoid having to kill him.
Even though it royally pissed me off, I also liked that choices mattered. The choices you made up to that point affected the outcome of a given situation. I really like that about Bioware games. Oh sure, maybe it doesn't matter for the ending. So what? Choices are situational, and allow us to put our own...flavor...to our character; allow him his own personality. The journey is what is important, not the destination.

With RPGs I usually do all of the side missions, so by Virmire I had already completed the mission where you recover Wrex's family armor.

I liked that bit where BioWare plants the seed of doubt by having Wrex start talking about building a Krogan empire and expanding. Even Mordin is likeWittingEight65 wrote...
I didn't kill him though I used the renegade choice to calm him down and I was like: let's just calm this beast so we can continue with the mission, and, in ME3, I doubted on curing the genophage until the very end (until Wrex told me I was his brother and stuff, he got me with that one Q_Q).

I usually do all the missions eventually, but not in one playthrough. I like to save content for subsequent runs, so the first couple times I intentionally leave some content for the future. In this case, my first time through I barely interacted with Wrex, so I didn't get the armor quest. Also didn't have enough Charm points, so Ashley had to shoot him. It was a bummer despite barely knowing him.Han Shot First wrote...

On my current playthrough I made sure to keep him alive (by having a small enough team), because I plan on killing him and Mordin in ME3. I love both characters, but I also love seeing different content, and doing that is a huge variation.

It's smarter to shoot him. What do we know about him at that point really? He's a gun for hire who's now aiming that gun at the commander. A hostile member of a violent race. But I love the guy.
If you actually talk to him on the Normandy you learn a lot more about him than that. It's the reason getting his armor back lets you talk him down even with the most tongue-tied Shepard in the galaxy, you've proven to each other how much more you are than race/class combinations.

Agreed. I love to take him on every mission I go on, because this'll be the first and last time he can ever go on an entire campaign with me(Bummer to ME3, only on Citadel DLC but still nice). But I love the guy. He's very interesting. I play Female Shepard only, so I like having him around a lot. It killed me when I couldn't get him in ME2, and even more in ME3. But no, I would never kill Wrex. I'm like Kelly. I love all kinds of species.<3
