So my local game store (EB Games, owned by Gamestop) is absolutely terrible about pre-order bonuses - I didn't get my Dragon Age preorder stuff, I didn't get my Overlord II preorder stuff, I didn't get my Too Human preorder stuff, etcetera, which leaves me wondering about whether I'm going to get my ME2 preorder bonuses.
I've got the Collector's Edition preordered, and I'm basically wondering if the code for the Collector Armor is going to be in the box or if it's being given out by the retailers. I understand the retailer-specific weapons and armor are given to the retailers for distribution and to be honest I expect to get neither the Terminus nor the Inferno armor set as a result, but the Collector Armor is cooler than either of those, I think, and I'd be very upset if I didn't receive it in my CE.
So basically, is it in the box or is it a card given to the retailers?

i'd guess all the stuff for the CE is in box. since those you HAVE to preorder.

Yes. The Collector's armor is not a preorder bonus. It is in the box. If you don't receive it, someone opened the box and stole it.

Also, the only way ever to get the Collector Armor is by buying the ME2 CE, the armor won't ever be released as DLC

Well, the employees at the store seem to stop short of opening the boxes, it's just the extra preorder cards and other things which 'go missing'. Thanks for your reassurances about the armor I really care about!
