I can live with trying and failing, but not even trying? And its the end of wave 9 on gold? Seriously? Weak! I guess the lesson here is that you pretty much cannot die if you're pug'ing, because there's about a 95% chance the missed gets scrubbed if you do.

Yes.
That has largely been my experience as well. If you permanently die, the PUGs almost always seem to wipe shortly thereafter.
It's really, really awesome when you find some that don't. But then, of course, you'll usually get stuck "waiting for other players" after the match, so you end not being able to stay and play more with them.

In the last few weeks I've seemed to usually end up with at least 1 other player in PuGs than can carry a wave if needs be - I think I've only had 2 or 3 gold wipes since Christmas where it's been down to me getting synch-killed.
I was under the impression that randoms (on PC at least) have been getting better... ?

Yeah, I think this is Murphy's law; when I manage to find a PUG with some good players, I will absolutely, positively, most definitely get WFOP after the 1st match and have to quit. Grrr!DragonRacer wrote...

Upset.
Was pugging a silver game where the host had a N7 rating of 13. They died here and there, but they weren’t awful considering they must be new to the game. On wave 11 everybody extracts apart from the host.
Whilst waiting for the loading screen and scoreboard, one of the other puts their mic on and shouts abuse at the host more or less saying they are so bad at the game that they should never play this game ever again. They promptly leave the lobby after the abuse.
Don’t understand why they were upset. The host is new, the match took a reasonable amount of time and everyone got the full credits (apart from the host who gets 10% less due to failing to extract).

Some people are just tools, it can't be helped unfortunately.
