Haha, I played a Plat PUG game with the Male Quarian Infiltrator and my Tac Scan would not initiate due to the lag, for some reason. Also, the Arc Grenades went right through several Primes Image IPB

Ninja'd.

Lobby got ninja'd on the difficulty. Was at gold when I arrived then the host turned it to silver. Wasn't paying attention at the time. I just wanted it to be over quickly. Not to mention the only player in the lobby that wasn't screwing around was a volus merc. The trooper and the pheonix vanguard were screwing around and not helping with objectives. Forgot how easy wave 6 targets was on Cerb silver. Not to mention some decent consumables were used up in that match. :(

Heh - I had that the other day, except the host switched to Bronze ... I was really confused for the first couple of spawns since I was using a BatSlasher Adept. Warp > Clusternades ... wtf?!

I don't wait for the gold forum anymore; just gear up like a solo and start. Tonight I was mostly alone for 5 waves, but twice someone joined, died without gelling, and after I finished the wave, I was alone again. Why do people do that? Anyway, was joined by an asari adept in wave 6, low N7. But she played well, was smart, good teammate and knew how to BE. An Adept and a Brawler with incendiary ammo make a good team; lot's of explosions. A krogan joined in wave 8, and we did well, considering. They joined me at the other end of Ghost for extraction instead of camping the zone, so extraction was easy. Their low N7 was not a problem. I don't mind clutching. A satisfying game.

Ghosts... as in pretty much every enemy that was bigger than humanoid size... their corpses stayed on the screen for like 2-3 waves..

Weird...

I've never had a random tell me where to position myself on the extraction wave on Giant before, like it was some kind of genuine military mission - and then issuing orders to move when there were still 30 seconds on the clock. Yeah, so I was playing as a Juggy, not the fastest kit around but I was only just around the corner from the LZ locking down the spawn at the back room.

I mean the guy had even said over the mic earlier that he hadn't unlocked the Juggy yet and he's issuing commands to me like I've never played the game before... when I'm using a character he's not unlocked ... with a Spitfire X and 50k more points on the scoreboard than the 2nd placed player.

Very odd... some people take this game way too seriously.

I wish more people would do like you and cover that area, but you shouldn't have had to do it as a jugg. :)

That's acutally a great spot for juggy during extraction; locks down that spawn and puts him close to the LZ for the slowest sprint ever.

Marked the important parts. Some people are frustrated that almost every game now is a f*****g game in progress just started. It's a game designed for four players, and I want to know before the game starts who am I playing with. Next time you want to solo, just set the lobby to private. Problem solved, thank you very much.

Just because you're yelling at the character doesn't mean he's physically sprinting Image IPB...

What I meant was that I'd prefer the jugg just outside grabbing bosses (ie. just a little in cover by that pillar) ... while another more damage dealing character holds the backroom spawn and shoots people of the back of said juggernaught.

Ah I see. And yes, if we're holding the LZ during extraction on Giant with a JUggy, that would be my preferred method as well. But I'm always on the other side of the map waiting to sneak up the back stairs.

And some of us prefer to join games in progress. I realize we are fewer and further between but 1) we DO exist and 2) you can quit a GIP the second you hit it and will rarely (read extremely rarely) lose your consumables. Put another way, this is a complaint I have zero patience for. I mean it's fairly well known at this point that a spanky new lobby often fills up more slowly than a GIP or a lobby that just had a game. There's no reason to be so mad at GIPs. Just quit intermediately, problem solved, thank YOU very much.

Heh - to be fair, the Juggy can output a reasonable amount of damage with Incendiary Ammo, Siege Pulse and the Hex Shield specced right ;)  I only melee in extreme circumstances to get some shields back - usually just long enough to be able to switch to a Cobra missile and wipe out the horde attempting to gank me.

I was standing in the corridor by the back room (which is close enough to block the spawn) shooting out at anything coming across the courtyard - only issue is pesky Hunters coming up the ladder and flanking you... but I've got the Juggy specced for full survivability and was using both Stronghold and Cyclonics (I don't believe in overkill on the Juggy - heh) so unless there are a couple of Hunters or a Pyro you don't even really notice them, they barely scratch your shields.

And I have zero patience for morons. Out of 20 games there are 19 games in progress. I clearly wrote in my post that almost every match is a GIP. It wouldn't be much of an issue if it were just a few GIP's, but nowadays it's almost impossible to get in a lobby (at least on pc).

And why is it so slow to fill a lobby? Could it be because all the players lands in GIP's? Maybe next time you think before you post something, thank you :-)

TBH, I normally play gold and I'd rather join a GIP than a set faction/map lobby - I prefer not to know what's coming, that way I can't prepare for it and it keeps life a little more interesting. I'll stick with a GIP and drop out of a preset lobby 9 times out of 10. Of course, if it turns out the game was preset when we get back to the lobby - I bail then.

I'm also on PC and I'd say I get probably 40% GIP drop-ins in PuGs, 50% preset crapness that I leave immediately and maybe 10% U/U/G which I'll almost definitely hang around for.

Irony on the interwebz, don't ever change.  Almost every game in your experience, very few in mine.  This is going to vary across platforms, locations, etc.  This is rather obvious.  Why is it so slow to fill a lobby... this has actually been going on since the game's peak.  I don't know if it was ever proven, but some of the number cruncher types around here posted (about a year ago or so) that the theory is that the GAME ITSELF prioritizes already existing lobbies (like I said, lobbies that have had at least one game or are already in progress).  Maybe next time don't be such a douche when you post, thank you.  Or if you must, feel free to actually do some research, since, as I said, this is all fairly well known stuff for those of us who have been on these forums since launch and who actually followed the testing that said number crunching types have done.

Heroic.

Also a bit anticlimactic, but still heroic.

Geared up my Saber TSol and searched U/U/G. Could tell from the sound of bullets whizzing by that I was joining a game in progress, and could also tell from the announcer that it was an objective wave. When my screen finally loaded, it was like a scene from a nightmare: Ghost (thankfully not Hazard)/Collectors, two Scions up to my left with a Praetorian behind them, a second Praetorian approaching from the building on the right, and two abominations having a huddle party around my body.

I couldn't even move when I loaded in; I was already in the abomination grappling screen. A Scion killed me while I was stuck like that and I immediately medigelled. The other abomination humps me as soon as I stand up and we repeat the process of a Scion taking me down. I rage-gel as a Collector Captain comes over to stomp me. He melees me into a stagger as soon as I'm up and down I go to the Scions again.

Medigel # 4. And keep in mind this is all from just trying to load into the LZ. I have no idea why I felt so committed at this point, but I was.

I see it's pizza delivery. No time to check scoreboard for wave number or even if there are any other players in the match, as it is a ghost town other than the Collector rave party in the LZ. I run towards the pizza in the building on the left and get downed again, this time noticing just how laggy the room is.

Medigel # 5. Rage rocket # 1. Killstreak.

I make it to the pizza and am just about to grab it when a respawned Praetorian on the other side of the building immediately eye lasers through the walls and kills me. I sigh. I take half a second to check the scoreboard out of curiosity and see one lone soul in the game and it's Wave 10. I must have loaded in as he was still bleeding out from what must have been a failed solo that he didn't set to private or all his teammates abandoned him due to lag or dropped out/froze because lolPS3Collectors.

I really ought to be a Big Goddamn Hero and salvage his Wave 10 credits for him.

Medigel # 6.

I take the pizza to the LZ, just leaving the missile launcher in my hand because "screw this". Plus, no more gel so gotta be careful. I ops pack the moment I feel any gunfire on me, to be safe. I finally see the downed player in the LZ - a Geth. The second pizza delivery is no problem.

I then run back to the building the first pizza was in, turn around, and aim a rocket at the two Praetorians approaching from the LZ area. Just as soon as I fire, a possessed abomination rounds the corner into the doorway and takes one for the team. Obviously, I die in the resulting nuclear explosion and, with no medigel left, it's back to base.

Anticlimatic. Would've been nice to pull him to extraction, but I'm sure he's grateful for the Wave 10 credits I clutched for him. On the scoreboard, I see he was a Geth Trooper Soldier and he immediately vacated the premises afterwards.

At least I got roughly 34,000 credits for that effort; enough to buy a JEP to replace all the consumables I blew through clutching it for him. LOL I still have no idea why I didn't just say "screw it" and bleed out after that first BS death, but I guess I've got too much Turian in me to just lay down and quit while I still have medigels left. "Victory, at any cost."

I'm not sure if that's a point in favor or a point against dropping into games already in progress. Image IPB

I have a very hard time turning my back on my spent medigel.

I look at the dwindling number, and say, "No, medigel! You will not be wasted! You will not be in vain! I will throw MANY MORE medigel down that hole in an effort to finish this!"

I do not claim that this strategy is a resource-efficient one, nor wise, but I definitely understand the motivation. xD

Not everyone who disagrees with you is a moron.

I don't like landing in games in progress, either, but I also don't always feel like waiting for an hour for a lobby to fill. I don't blame people for starting before the lobby is full.

It wasn't directed at you. It was directed at impatient selfish people that don't even take 10 seconds for you to gear up and leave the lobby because they wanted to start. And other impatient hosts.

I'm done arguing with you.

Point already adressed. Maybe you should consider the fact that it was her who had zero patience for someone with a different opinion in the first place.

The problem is not the consumables it is the waste of time. It takes several minutes to load up and to leave a GIP, on top of that the game can put you back in the very same GIP 3 or 4 times in a row, bloody annoying and time consuming if you ask me. What  would solve this problem? A bit of patience. Which you have none ... If you are in a lobby with someone it takes 2 or 3 minutes to fill up. Is that too much to ask?

I've seen lobbies take 30 minutes and more to get a single person in them other than the host and myself. Again, this goes back to what the testers believe to be the method of how the game prioritizes quick matches.

I do feel you on the wasted time, however; the repeated load screens are a real kiiller. Amusingly, this is actually why I prefer landing in GIPs. I'll land in lobby after lobby that I'm not interested in (extremely low level, unequipped characters; preset map/enemies; all biotic team when I feel like playing an overload spammer) for a good half hour sometimes before I find one that works. Since my play time is extremely limited most of the time, I'd rather just land in a game and get to playing.

Topic: funnewbies... Testing out a build on silver and dropped in on some micless newbies who were still getting the hang of some mechanics, obviously, but were generally trying and having fun and not being jerks. Was a good time. Silver pugs on xbox are usually pretty mellow though. It's gold that gets a bit hit and miss for me; I'm just not strong enough to carry if I have to on Gold, at least not on later waves.
