So, no they didn't know. They Shadow Striked Possessed Abominations on purpose. Shadow Strike'd 2 Abominations in a row, practically committing suicide.

Translation: It's sad that the person playing the Shadow kept doing the SS instead of HMing since HM will stop the aboms from blowing up by decapitating them.
And I guess that's ninja'd. ![]()

Shadow Strike slashes across the body, it doesn't decapitate.
...and I said Shadow heavy melee which does decapitate. I was wondering why the Shadow in your game wasn't using that instead of shadow strike.

PLATINUM!!!!
I've never played plat with pugs, and have only played 30-something games in total with friends. It's not that it scares me or I find it too hard, as I've only had one single failed mission, though I've personally failed to extract a couple of times. It's more just the knowledge that there are pug variables beyond my control (leechers, glitchers, rambos) and the usual boss spam complaints that can result in really long matches if the team falls apart.
I searched U/U/G as usual, playing as a GI/BW, as a nice change of pace after playing as a Krodept for a while. Everybody was geared-up and had reasonably high rankings, and the host put on his mic and said, "I'm gonna switch up to plat - it looks like we have people who should know what they're doing." LOL yeah, ya think?!? He set the options to White Hazard and Cerberus, so I added an Acolyte and swapped my Shield Power Cells 3 to a Cyclonic 4 and off we went.
In the cold light of day I can no longer be sure what the team consisted of apart from my GI and a Talon, probably a Justicar and possibly a Shadow. No Juggs, AIUs, TGIs or Flamer kits, leaving me as the most obvious 'crutch' kit. Everything went pretty smoothly. Very smoothly on non-objective waves actually - blocking the spawn in the upper right corner, running down to the basement, killing and retreating, covering the upper stairs with cain mines and ultimately using the back stairs as a killzone once the spawns had stopped. For objectives we got pizzas, devices and an escort. Pizzas were well placed, so no trouble there. Devices on wave 6 could have gone horrendously wrong but for a well-considered missile or two, and we did get pretty lucky with the placements. The escort was from near our usual starting point down to the very back corner, and was smooth, followed by gleeful missiles to finish the wave.
The extraction wave was all going perfectly too, until I somehow (genuinely don't know how it happened) found myself trying to cloak my way through an entire spawn on the back stairs with about 10 secs left. LOL no chance. I blame that 'one last dragoon' that I wanted to kill before running, and I suspect one of the others had missiled his own path to the EZ, which is absolutely fine by me, but sadly I suffered the consequences and didn't make it out. It was a 23 minute game, the Talon topscored, but everyone else did over 100k damage. Ah, if only all pugs were like this....but then what would we complain about?!?
Sorry for the long post - I do realise that for the majority of this forum's users playing a platinum pug is an everyday experience, but it's not for me. And the purpose of this post is not to say 'hey look at me', it's to reiterate my belief that teamwork makes this game tremendous fun at all difficulty levels. Still, Geth/Condor/Plat can wait for a while yet!

Glad the PuG went well!

Kicked
I guess they didnt care for my Scorpion SE...felt like RP'ing a kit on my first game back on xbox in a while, still managed like 160k on a u/u/g which ended up geth/reactor/hazard. This is the internet, and I must assume hostility so these d-bags must have kicked me for score whoring. On second thought, I did shut them all in the reactor more than once. I guess I earned that kick after all.

Furiosus!
Tried to find people for a quick platinum: as soon as I open the lobby, it's filled with people... who are ready for gold, at most.
So, I stealth nerfed the difficulty, switched to fury (a good kit I should learn to play better) and we begin.
Rio, Collector of course (why every time I pug with a biotic class, RNG gives me collectors?
).
Surprise surprise, the team was good: noone was exeptional (me included), but we covered each other, res each other and sinergize pretty well. 2 shotgun fury, a phoenix adept and an AIU. Collectors didn't know what happened to them

Fail.
Missile glitcher failed to missile glitch.
Was "Away", but kept him alive long enough to get kicked.

LAAAAAAG.
Played two U/U/G matches last night with different PUG groups. Both were incredibly laggy, like over a full second delay sometimes. And both were against Geth. It's extra fun when you're teleporting into and out of staggers all over the map. In the first one, I got sick of trying to solo waves and dying 10 feet from where I was just standing, so I let myself bleed out. The second one, we had a pretty decent group with 3 tech users and a KroLord. The Geth didn't stand a chance. Never mind the fact that I would almost have my Executioner completely reloaded before the shot I just took would register as a hit. I did give up trying to Overload Bombers though. It only hit maybe 25% of the time.

Awkward - I enjoy listening to people chat as the game searches for a lobby. This lobby was two people from the UK, one from France and me. The two from the UK were chatting away critiquing me and the French player. They must not have liked the French player's build too much and were trying to kick him. My joining blocked that so they were talking about switching to game chat to ask him to leave. There was a little bit of dialogue about trying to communicate with the French (not all of it kind). I then got WFOP so I backed out of the lobby. I sent one of them a quick message apologizing for having to back out because of the WFOP issue and a PS about them being in game chat and not party chat.
I wonder if he thought I was offended as I ran into the chap I messaged 2x after that. Once in his lobby which he promptly left, then in the game in progress that I started solo in his inherited lobby. He left that pretty quick as well.

My partner is French and I struggle to communicate with her on a daily basis. Hourly, actually ![]()
Chatty French PUGs tend to be among the greatest treasures this game has to offer. They will almost invariably attempt to communicate in English if it seems necessary, which is more than can be said for most of us native English speakers. Then off they go using a million vowels a minute with barely a consonant to be heard. Glorious, if somewhat impenetrable.

Typhoon.
Match was set U(H. Dagger)/Reaper/G. Two of the pugs were very new. The 3rd was a N7 paladin with a harrier 7 or 8. I was using typhoon hybrid GT. The paladin put a heavy scope on his harrier, but no piercing of any sort, which I found to be unusual. He did use incendiary 4 and I believe cyclonics 4. So, I thought, this shouldn't be too much trouble. Well, the paladin died at least as often as the other 2 new pugs. I clutched device wave 6, after which the paladin left. To my surprise, the paladin rejoined a couple of waves later. But this time, without that curious heavy scope-equipped harrier, he came back with a typhoon! I think he used most, if not all his gels in the 1st wave he re-entered. Nevertheless, we managed to work together and extract.

horrible!!! this morning ... failed once with two players that shouldn't have been on gold.. we failed on wave 9 I think so I decided let me play a more mobile kit (Slayer) and try again... I dont mind helping people that are trying gold.. I should have known since both didn't equip any consumables, we failed wave 7 this time.. the top two; myself and someone else had 55k the other two had just over 10k each... ![]()

Carry. A seriously heavy game for a squishy AA.
Clutch for wave 3,5,6,7,8,9 vs collectors on hazard dagger. Don't know if that team was the most incompetent pug I've ever had but it's among the top 5. Zero help with objectives, messing up spawns, overriding my biotics with disruptor and explosive rounds and zero use of consumables. That is until we got to wave 11, then everyone starts gellin' *sigh*.

Couldn't take cover for some strange reason in the match, at all.
Bit of a problem when playing off-host novaguard and have brutes, marauders and ravagers pinning you down...

My last pug was good. Good is the word. Two pistol wielding Juggies against Cerberus on Glacier. And an ex-Cerberus something or other in the mix. They were detonating my fire explosions and tanking, while still dealing a decent amount of damage themselves.
However, the preceding five pugs were a terrible mix of bad lag, invisible enemies (Invisible geth primes, bombers and hunters. On Condor? Sorry, I'm deserting from the Reaper War) and people expecting a carry.

Obliteration
I didn't go down a single time, which was pretty cool considering it was vs. collectors. Love games like that. Normally those captains like to troll me. Instead I decapitated every last one of them.

YUSOMAD? Yes, that is the word describing it. I was experimenting with the Human Adept in Gold and was actually quite satisfied. Match on White against Reapers went on without any real problems for the team, yet (presumably) the host was raging over his microphone the whole game. DAFUQ???
