That pain, I know it better than anyone.

You can try cleaning the laser lens, that helped with mine temporarily and worked for good on a previous Xbox. Sadly, this one has just seen better days, so no amount of surgery could have saved it.

how do I do that?

Do you have the old model or a slim?

(it also requires opening the Xbox. If you are under warranty I suggest sending it in rather than attempting to repair yourself)

Edit: I sent you a PM that has some youtube links to things that may help you out. Good luck!

lolwindows

Was playing a nice HazWhite/Reapers game, trying out the Wraith DA for the first time, when Windows randomly decided to kill all my programs and restart. Apparently the Postpone Automatic Updates window decided not to pop up x(

Why on earth would you leave automatic updates on to start with?

From personal experience, I'd say that they forgot to turn them off. Don't worry, after the tenth time this happens, they will make sure that they're turned off.

Correct. I recently had to do a system restore to a point where I still had them on, and forgot to disable them again.

thanks Slim!

OT: duo'd Geth/Vancouver with Silentbacon. Every person that tried to join got "waiting for other players" so we had to duo with our shotgun kits.

I was the Asari Vanguard w/ Claymore and he was the Turian Cabal w/ Raider.

we made it to wave 10 but when we finished the objective I got caught up on the wall where the ladder is. It didn't give me the arrow icon to move ahead. so I just stood there like an idiot and ended up getting synced by a Phantom.

*sigh* whatever, there were pugs waiting on us so we didn't want to make them wait. It would have taken too long to finish the wave anyway.

Good game though for being what it was. lol

Wallhax.

Getting used to the Geth Scanner / HM overlay lately.  Took my TC-cooldown-mechanics-abusing overburdened DAI (Black Widow + Raider) w/ drill rounds and heavy barrels into a couple of rounds of U/U/S -- first Geth/Goddess, then Reapers Ghost/Hazard.   Recon mine for more visibility and then mercilessly shot things through walls whenever possible.  I'm hardly the most efficient sniper but it seemed to work well enough, at least when smashes and flamers weren't interfering.

glaciercamping

Sure it's a word.  After a lengthy series of bad pugs of the "I think this person isn't quite ready for gold yet" variety, I dropped into a reapers game on glacier where the host was a wall banging slashtard variety of slayer who camped the back hallway at the top of the ramp you go rolfstomping into the basement from.  His partner in crime was a melee only juggy with the big shield who would block off the back hallway completely for the slashtard to slash away from behind.  Neither one fired their weapon once, though they were good with revives and did objectives.

Wave 10 objective was the hack circle just to the left of where you spawn into the map.  they backed all the way into the corner that's just over the stairs, slapped down that big shield and proceeded as before (which looked hilarious with the two of them crammed into that nook).  This is how I found out brutes can reach you through that particular wall from the stairs on the LZ.  I was watching the LZ approach and one I'd thought I'd killed stealthed his way around the crates to the left and proceeded to wail on the two of them through the wall, dropping both while I did my demolisher thing.

I dropped in on wave 2 and had 75 kills by wave six.  End game time showed 35 minutes (so that plus however long waves one and two took them).  At least I was playing my demogirl; on that map with her, I have no problems running around like a maniac on gold.  I kited a few banshees on wave 8 or 9 while I went ravager hunting and everything else swarmed to their camping spot.  Once the budget had died down I brought the banshees to them, too.  Teamwork?

Camping that hallway takes one of the easiest, fastest maps in the game and turns it into one of the hardest and most tedious.  I don't get it.

I've had a bunch of host migrations, pugs abandoning the game in the first few waves, joining games in progress...

Lately, getting a full normal game in from lobby to extraction is quite rare. It does feel sort of good to know that I've reached a point where I still get the credits for most of those missions, even without pugs that are trying. But, I'd rather get through a whole game with my feet under me.

I used to do that with friends, get all-biotic or all-tech teams to sit up there against Reapers. Made for some hectic games, and broke the tedium of roflstomping.

One of my favourite games I ever played was with someone using an Asari Justicar on Glacier, while I used a Volus Adept. We camped the lab, in his bubble, while I shield boosted.

It was ages ago... I don't think I've even used a Volus in almost a year (let alone camped Glacier) but it was hilarious watching tonnes of things shooting at us, and getting nowhere. He just about never went down, being in hard cover, and was quick to revive me when mah wee Volus shields were overwhelmed. The combination of the DR from my boosts (I had Shield recovery and DR maxed, 'cuz that's how I rolled) and the bubble was doing some impressive things for us!

I'd never do it, now, I admit. Well... maybe with friends. It was a completely random, spontaneous encounter at the time, and we just fell into it.

Camping the lab would make more sense.  That hallway is a nightmare.  I got stuck there once on a plat pug (I'm not solid enough to run off on my own in plat and I wasn't playing one of my go to characters) and it truly makes that map harder.  even camping just outside the hallway at the top of the ramp would be better.

Camping in the dark room is fun if you get three of your friends to do it with you.

Then again, so is just about everything in this game.

Speaking of camping on FB Glacier, I had a really nice run on Glacier/Cerby/Gold a few days back where we (AJA,Smashdept,Juggy and GE) just camped the hallway that's to the right of the LZ for waves 8,9 and 10 (hack obj). I set up a biotic bubble up the stairs, Juggy put up his shield facing the LZ entrance, Smashdept dropped a singularity on the basement stairs and GE was just alternating b/w the points of entry occasionally dropping healing turrets.

The exploding biotic cheese Cerberus experienced was delicious. Only one Phantom made it to the hack circle in wave 10 and she was dispatched quickly by a Wraith shot to the pie hole.

Scoreless?

We had a leech join a U/U/P and after several waves, he had a grand total of 1664 points.   We wiped on wave 9 after I ran out of gel.  When the scoreboard came up, I was quite surprised to see that he had no score.  First time I ever saw a score that was too low to display.  :D

Hardly an impressive game considering the time.  There are better games on Youtube.

I was joking. I've never seen anything like that either.

One of these days I should get my Plat solo done and do a real epeen post.   :)   It will definitely not be Goddess/Reapers.  Those Banshees will not stop following me around the map!

Hmm...grill gamers don't have e-peens (they have e-boobs) and therefore you are saying grill gamers aren't real?
