Rage. Then amusement.
I decided to do an easy run, so I loaded up my Talon Merc and headed to gold. The pugs didn't look that bad; one had more challenge points than I did, the other two were lowbies, but I figured that if the other higher level guy and I played well together we'd do alright. We got Hazard Dagger, and the very first objective wave was the hack on the side platform. You know, the one with ways to get shot from all sides? Yeah, that one. Alright, we're doing alright, we're doing okay, and...
The pugs refuse to medigel. They simply REFUSE. I swear, within a minute of beginning the objective, two of them were bled out on the floor. Finally it was just me, the talon mercenary with 525 shields, and a geth who somehow went down three times more often than I did, versus the reaper hordes. I am not an expert at this game.
Failure at wave 3.
In the end I got more than three times their COMBINED score.
My next game, I was looking for a silver game to practice my Cabal with, as I unlocked her recently. So I search for a silver game and, lo and behold, I get dropped into a gold game with no equipment. Everyone else looks fairly decent and fully equipped so I say what the heck, lets see how this turns out.
G/G/London
And they REFUSE to raise me. I could be standing in literally the most guarded area of the map and they wont come and get me. I wasn't even dying that much, a little more than I'd like, but I'm still new at the class, sue me. Add to that, the game is having an infuriating kind of lag where my dodge teleports make me stand still and my poison strike apparently wants to teleport me in random directions. By wave 6 I was out of medigel, and yet somehow I was still within a few k of the best player of the bunch. Let me put this into perspective; I am AWFUL at cabal still. And I was doing as well or better than everyone else.
Anyway, wave six comes and they let me bleed out. I start cheering for the geth, and soon enough my rage is replaced by great amusement as they proceed to get taken down like 4 times each by the geth primes that were facerolling them. To my amazement, however, they manage to finish the wave, having gained a 20-25k point lead on me.
"Wow," i like to imagine them thinking, "That was really hard without that stupid cabal teleporting in random directions and being a general bullet sponge! We should keep her going maybe sorta kinda!"
To my amazement, they actually revive me a few times. Fortunately, by this point I'm getting a bit better handle on the Cabal's mechanics, and only die a few times.
Come wave nine. They start to die. And Die. Aaaand Die. Eventually I have to break out my rocket launcher and nuke things, because they insisted on just staying in one place while the geth swarmed over them. Despite my best efforts, I finally go down, and they dont revive me again.
Two minutes later, they're all dead. Game over on wave 9. In the end, with no equipment, using only poison strike and an acolyte, I managed to return to within 5-10k of the other players.
Never have I been so enraged or amused or confused at the difference between the two emotions.
Pugs, man. Pugs. *shakes head*
