Presuming a pug will even OWN a GEAR bonus is presuming too much, from my experience >_<

99% of lobbies I enter, I immediately NOPE right out of. It's that bad.

 

EDIT: Okay, maybe not 99%, but still easily 80%. I can spend a half hour trying to find one game with people who actually don't have completely idiotic loadouts (Claymore + Javelin on a Human Engineer, for example) and actually have gear bonuses and ammo bonuses that don't interrupt their powers (lol biotic explosion specialists with disruptor ammo, for example) And of course, things like Infiltrators without a rank 6 cloak bonus for snipers insisting on sniping (TGI, AIU, Huntress) insisting on sniping is another one I've started noping away from.

Well, there was this one time I was looking for Silver games, as per usual, with my turian soldier. I had Revenant with Assault Rifle Amp equipped, but nothing more since... lolsilver. Imagine my surprise when I found myself in a platinum geth game on wave one.

 

Now, the noble thing would be to back out, but I needed credits So, I persevered and we wiped out on wave nine. Got 60k out of it and a bruised ego, since let me tell you, it wasn't my proudest moment.

See, that's cool, the search does random crap sometimes. Not your fault. Honestly, so long as a player doesn't die too much and/or contributes adequeately (And my idea of adequeate isn't even about points, it's about reviving downed allies, priming and detonating, etc) I don't mind if they don't have rail amps/ armor bonuses on, or even ammo bonuses on a non weapon specialist. But when I see things like an N7 Destroyer without armor piercing mods OR armor piercing ammo on their level 2 avenger and level 4 shuriken, I WILL be like "... silver, please." You know?

You don't need the best guns to do beautifully in gold. You just need the right synergy. And most of the parties I back out from are largely weapons specialist classes with "bad" stuff going on (Again, an AIU with snipers, when it's cloak is specialized for shotguns, AND snap freeze is a brilliant close range power. Sniping is just a waste of its potential) Hell, I actively change my class to fit my team (If I look for a team as a destroyer soldier and I join a room with two low ranking adepts, I switch to a biotic as well, to try to work as a team with them) so yeah.

One pug teached another how to play the game aka  "you have to be in the hack zone during the hack objective", "don't sit in the LZ on wave11" etc.  It was really nice to hear that conversation while I was running around and shredding everything with my Claymore GI.

Failed at Wave 9 because I couldn't be screwed clutching the game anymore.

- Hops into a silver match in progress as a QME with 1/1 in Incinerate and Arc Grenade. Reegar with Shock Trooper Package.

- Comes in 3rd. One of them had an N7 score 1.5x mine.

- Next game, levels QMS, comes in 3rd again, 1000 points away from 2nd.

I know silver is easier than Gold. I know that. BUT STILL! A group that doesn't mass wipe most of the time!

Hosted an UUP pug yesterday with my Jug. Three other Jugs joined, all with decent CP.

We got Reactor Hazard vs Reapers. It was one of my easiest platin games ever. Took ~ 30 mins and I only used two OPs and one missile. We were down less than 5 times in sum, although several times someone pushed the button while at least two others were in the reactor.

So I join a silver game as a Level 1 Asari (1 Stasis, 1 Offensive Passive, Valiant IV)

"HOLY **** A BEST OF THE BEST CRANKING IT UP TO GOLD!"

Or at least I assume that was his train of thought. Litte jerk changed it on me when I was distracted by my girlfriend on Skype. Re-readied thinking he just changed the map.

I don't know what's worse. The fact that "LOL A LEVEL 1 CAN CARRY US IN GOLD GUYS SERIOUS" or the fact that I beat the rest of my team at level 1.

Applies to the last 2 games with the same team. Felt like sniping and took indra DI and mantis SI into the two games resp. First one was ghost/coll and the next was goddess/geth. Both were sub20 without unnecessary spawn nuking. Quite enjoyable.

Sorry, I just need to rant a bit. TSent/AMIII, U/U//G - drop into a lobby with all new players. Fine - happens every day. All three are mic'd and as I load in the 'Leader' is grilling PUG 3 about 'can you hold your weight??'. I consider leaving due to this immediate red flag, but it's ok - I'll see how this plays out. My mic is actually busted, and this is a key point to my little (big) rant. 

 

While still in the lobby waiting for ready-up, PUG 2 asks 'Why are you leaving it as unknown??'. Leader: 'I need the XP!!'. At this point I'm thinking this could actually be kinda funny so I figure I'll just quietly do my thing and laugh at the inane banter. Leader and PUG 2 obviously know each other, so there could be some solid comedic nuggets. 

 

PUG 2: 'What if we get Collectors?!'. 

Leader: 'We won't get them.'

PUG 2: 'I've never faced Collectors - don't leave it Unknown!'

Leader: 'We won't get them'.

 

We draw Hazard White / Collectors and I immediately start chuckling. Unfortunately, this is the end of my laughter and fun. The new players did what new players typically do - go down and go down often. That's not the issue for me - I expected this and was ready to carry if need be.

 

What was unpleasant you may ask? Leader and PUG 2 bitched and moaned about everything I did as I was carrying.

 

'Why isn't 'this guy'/'derogatory term' picking me up?'

 

'What the hell is 'this guy/'derogatory term' doing? Why isn't he just sticking with us (as we stupidly try to hold one spot and die constantly to scion grenades)?'

 

'This guy is in my way!'

 

'This guy is stealing my kills!'

 

Etc., etc., so on, so forth. I have no mic, so their astounding logic of course dictates that this is high time to bash someone who is carrying them to free credits. Bear in mind that these are not kids - these are fully grown babies. 

 

PUG 3 is actually pleasant and talks about trying to stick w/ me and is complimentary of my play and attempts at teamwork and revives, and this probably further exacerbates Leader and PUG 3's willingness to openly criticize him as well. Grrrrrr.

 

I manage to carry said group to the extraction wave while having at least 30 revives (no exaggeration) and they are still bitching about everything. Poor PUG 3 gets synced, PUG 2 gets himself trapped and I cannot get to him to revive (of course all of this is my fault) and Leader manages to stay on his feet going into the closing seconds. Leader starts screaming about getting to the EZ with about 20 seconds left - too early to camp there - but he does. He promptly goes down with two seconds remaining. I start a futile revive attempt, but this doesn't stop Leader from commenting '******* can't even get me up in the EZ'. 

 

OMFG. They weren't trolling, either. I was left dumbfounded by the sheer banality of their running commentary. I considered writing them a petulant message, but that would've been a waste of time. I could have just left, of course, but the more comments I heard just fueled me to see that mission through in spite of these assholes. 

 

While I will easily forget this in the next few minutes, it's **** like this that reminds me of why so many people probably shy away from any multiplayer experience or games in general. That's too bad. Episodes like this are especially stupid in a co-op game.   

 

Oh well. Sorry, I just need to get that off my chest / whine about it and I feel better now .

The poor guy did 4 hugs with Banshees in a gold / Reapers / Jade game. I think this is the highest number I have seen in a gold game. I came while the game was in progress and got the WFOP screen at the end so I can't tell whether he was a totally new player.

Duo

 

Geth/Rio again (random please...). As nobody was joining my lobby, I decided to start the match and hope for others to join mid-game. The only one that entered my match (by the end of Wave 5), was a Human Infiltrator. We were having a kinda rough time, so by Wave 7 we unspokenly decided to try to economize the little supplies we had left. Then we went down to the crates at the far end of the map (the opposite one from the extraction zone), and while the Infiltrator began sniping everything in his sigth in one side (he was carrying a Black Widow), I covered the other one (TGI-Harrier). Waves 7, 8 and 9 went without the slightest problem

 

Unfortunately, we disabled the devices on Wave 10 and died Can't have everything in this life, I guess.

Hey. I think I ran into these guys as well. Although, I'm sure this applies to quite a few pugs, but I had a very similar situation where 2 pugs were almost unbearable while the 3rd was was pleasant and appreciative.

Except in my version they bumped it up to Plat first because I could carry them based on my CP.

And I foolishly did too, until Wave 10 when we got pizza deliveries and they all ran right out into the open and got stomped.

The complaints about how I was delivering the first pizza were amazing. I apparently was going the wrong way. Doing the wrong things, this and that.

On the 2nd I went the way they wanted me to go with the first. Which they started complaining about...so when I got downed I just stayed down. The end.

The two pugs had kicks on me when I returned to the lobby. 3rd guy was in disbelief. I left.

Wow, I've seen people complain about Hex Shield spams...heavy melee spams...now Siege Pulse spams....glad the Juggernauts don't breath, if so, people would complain about that, too.

They've all been good. I've pug'd about 7 times now (after not playing for almost 6 months) and they've all been good games to extraction, with one where we struggled (it was London, so to be expected.)

Headed for a gold PUG with my Claymore Flamesploshionkrosol - Was joined by two randoms I don't remember, and a KroWar who was happy to spend downtime engaging in contests with me to see who could headbutt the other Krogan the most before next waves spawned.

Sadly, my comrade Krogan unsurprisingly was impaled by Banshee's despite melee'ing them on slopes - Lesson here, kids - Just being ON the slope aint enough, though he did die valiantly trying to ressurect the two random unknowns who were off derping and dying elsewhere.

...is what Cerberus undoubtely found in his base on Noveria, when 2 Juggy's (one was me), a Justicar and a Fury deployed there. Add to that some damn fine "stand together" teamwork (especially from the two biotics working together), and they didn't stood a chance.

 

Ended up first BTW And my only weapon was an Acolyte. No one scored less than 100k.

 

BTW, the Justicar was also carrying an Acolyte. There was that "anime emotional kind" of moment together where we somehow synced our shots, and we both hit the same Atlas at the exact same time from the other side of the interior room. Somewhat poetic

To be 100% perfectly fair, I have a very valid explanation for this.

Siege pulse = 10% Damage Reduction per charge you have stored.
Firing off all your charges when taking heavy damage = very risky.
Giving me my 15 revives medal as a juggernaut, especially as early as wave 4 or even 1, which has happened = Please just keep the DR?

 

I'm aware I'm in the minority of people on this. Siege Pulse IS a good offensive power. Thing is, you're useless to the team if you're never actually on your feet. So, if you keep finding yourself in that kind of situation, adjust your playstyle accordingly. Every other class is expected to adjust and adapt, so naturally I give these guys no special treatment.

Example: My Destroyer was recently glitched out and had no shields at all in a match (Or rather, it was like its max shields were 1. Any tiny hit and instantly down.) So what do I do? Keep on going "lol I have boss shield regen, I can tank this?" Nope. I took a very safe approach and eliminated everything at long range from behind cover. Soooo... why keep spamming pulse if it's obviously not keeping you in the game at all, you know?
