I'm not sure I'm following you. If he took the pizza and proceeded to take it to the designated point, what's the problem? That he did so casually? It's not like you can do it fast, unless you're on PC and I'm pretty sure most pugs don't even know of the fast pizza delivery trick there.

 

Honestly, I'm not trying to be facetious here, but I'm a little baffled by what you were trying to get across with this post of yours. If the guy actually did the objective... what's bad about it?

 

I guess the fact that he was using his Spitfire the entire time while he walked to the LZ. It slows you down to a crawl. It could only have been worse if he was a Destroyer with Destroyer mode active. Aka the turret.

 

I rarely pick up the pizza myself because I just can't run with it. I only do it if no one starts with it within 20 sec or so. And then I walk straight to the LZ, no detours, no going after enemies etc...

Sat in the lobby for 10 minutes, no one joined.  Started it up solo, finished it solo.  Not one single player ever joined

 

When that happens, I usually quit the lobby and create it anew. Then people tends to enter quickly.

 

I guess it's MP code magic or something.

Joined a match in progress. Wave 1 and the last enemy had fallen through the map. Leave (lose consumables). Wait a minute and try to find another game and I instantly lose connection with host (least I don't lose consumables). Try for a 3rd time and I'm back at wave 1 with an unkillable enemy. Kinda of a jerk for the host to stay there and keep it active.

I was relying on crutch kits (I am so rusty, that I realize I need to do this in Gold) but we still had some struggles. The PuGs were good, and more importantly, they understood objectives and played smart. A couple of us had to clutch, but we spent the missiles and gels and got it done. The two matches were a pretty long, but we were carrying a leech (who finally got auto-kicked a few waves into the second game, and was replaced by a good player who knew what they were doing.)

As in PUGs work in mysterious ways, Cerberus/Ghost/Platinum - pretty much a 3 man game with a shadow contributing minimally. He went down at least twice every wave, then finally in wave 10 (with the objective completed) he bleeds out again and rage quits!

I'm out of most consumables so I switch to my Juggernaut and look for an UUG game. I enter a lobby with just one player, east european sounding name, no banner, low N7 and CP and gear more fit for silver. I leave immediately. Call it a hunch. 3 "Connection to the game has been lost" and 2 hosts leaving the moment I come into the lobby later I join into a game in progress. It is the same guy from the first lobby. FML

 

I don't mind Glacier/Geth but I hadn't walked more than a few steps before everything started to move around. Great, laggy host. I proceed to clear the map of enemies, but have to take breaks from that all the time because everyone else just can't stay alive for a minute. Lag is close to unbearable.

Then the other two guys seem to have enough and leave. Lag is almost gone and we extract (after I revived the host 6 more times).

 

The problem I have now is... I got more than half a million credits for one mission. What do I do about that?

 

I seem to run into modded/hacked games more and more often. At which point do I get into trouble? I mean, I had no idea until afterwards...

Yes, there is no support anymore but still... I feel kinda bad about that. This has happened a few times lately and at least once I noticed something was off, I just didn't know I'd get more money in the end as well. One guy has modded all spawns for the triple amount of enemies. Seriously fun and pretty hardcore against Cerberus. Imagine 9 Phantoms rushing you at once. Or an area -crowded- with turrets. Even if you missed your target, you were bound to hit something else. I would have continued to play on that host if the payout in the end wasn't triple the amount as well.

I can top that. Hazard Dagger with 2 Snipers and Collectors. Zero teamwork and we all died during wave6 hack. I should have let them die and finished the wave on my own but like an idiot I kept reviving people who didn't use missiles or medi packs at all...

Sorry about that I kept lagging...gel and ops packs and missiles were shown as gone but never worked. Should have just quit that game but I was stubborn and tried to finish.

The host was rocking an Asari Valkyrie using an N7 Valkyrie. That made me smile... until I realised the weapon was modded with the extended barrel and what appeared to be the SMG Heat sink. Scratched my head at that one.

 

In addition, each spawn seemed disproportionately large for Gold. Maybe 7+ units in each spawn, in which the host would roll in, and melee and biotic explosion everything to death. I had a feeling everything was either hitting harder, our opponents had less health, or that shield gate had been removed.

 

And if that wasn't enough, I noticed we received 350K credits on the win. Don't worry, the next 8 Arsenal packs I opened was all consumable.

 

Still, it was nice having a Valkyrie Valkyrie and a Paladin Paladin top the board.

Heh, that was you? I didn't remember any names. I only know the Talon merc was useless and the Geth infi waited way too long to gel, by that time I had bled out and that was a tiny bit upsetting. I'm not used to not extracting. ^^

... all the games I can find at the moment are hosted by people who should play Bronze or they suddendly switch the lobby to Platinum and don't give me enough time to change to something that can actually survive there. Bleh.

Yep. Not that I remember much more of it, to be honest. I've been going through a lot of games tonight. Well... I have been to a lot of lobbies. And sometimes I even get to play. And sometimes the games are fun.

Just the laggiest damned hosts all night long. Powers getting stuck with double cooldowns, powers not triggering, consumables not triggering, shots not registering, enemies bouncing around. I'd say it was me but my host seemed fine.

I don't think people even test their ping before they host, just 'cause you got internet doesn't mean you got SWAG. I always test my Ping before hosting.

I'm not sure if it technically counts as a PUG as I was the host, but I started by myself and the three other players that joined were playing kits you don't see to often.

 

The Volus vanguard, a non-melee Juggy and a Striker wielding Destroyer who wasn't missile glitching, a very rare sight indeed.

How do you test your ping? I've got 12ms ping to Google and 112ms to bioware.com... but how does that tell me if I'm a good host?

This. If your latency is bad, people might experience more lag on your host. Average is fine. I get around 60-50ms, but that's not too bad. I can still host Platinums. Upload speed matters as well.

It says I've got 30ms, but my download is average and my upload is bad. Can't help it, this is the only ISP available at my place. 6.016 kbit/s downstream and 512 kbit/s upstream. Should I host or not? ^^

What's bad about it, is the speed a Spitfire gives you. All of us ran to get it. I was a super fast Drell, so it would be more sensible if a faster guy like myself took the pizza. This jackass took all freakin' day to get to the lz, and we are on pc. That's my gripe with it, frankly. The guy stalled the game so much, it always seemed he was messing with us. He also marched straight into all the enemies, instead of a safer route that we cleared from him. It just came across as someone that clearly didn't know what the hell he was doing.
