It wasn't me, but it sounds like someone's been having fun with the mpbots command. You can get back into your character if that happens but you need console access. Maybe mgamerz, kobe, or excella was running the lobby?

Hijacked

This is something I've never seen before. Giant/Geth/Gold. I was on my turian soldier. Everyone logged into the game, then for some reason my toon's armor changed colour and seemed frozen. I thought the game froze up but then the banner came up - wave 1. And my toon began to move but I wasn't the one moving it!!! What has happened? Something was definitely very wrong here. I cut connection and closed down the game. Has anyone experienced this before?

Sounds you go hijacked, yeah. What did the game look like? What did the other players use as their kits? If you saw lots of Collector Adepts running around with red collar schemes, and if your Turian started to wield a Spitfire, it might have been me

Kitchen duty!!

Had time for a fast UUG search today. Got into a wave 1 gip (Condor/Cerb) and played like a pair of baked potatos. We made extraction but i was tooooo busy flooring along the way.

Assigned to kitchen duty until I l2p :-/

The Director was a specialist on B-movies and it did that for few peanuts....

(OT - UUP, 4 players in the lobby, two shady and one good (and me GT-flamer...) dice roll .... Condor frikken collector... we managed up to wave 9 (practically a duo...)

I had it happen to me last game I was in with mgamerz. My Worlard got turned into an mpbot for a bit.

So are you saying the host can take over anyone's toon by using the mpbots command console? First time I hear of this but then I've not touched the MP for more than a year.

Rio/Reapers/Gold  My HSent, a Paladin, a HE, and a Batguard.  Very smooth match, with maybe a total of 4 deaths the entire match between the four of us.  Banshees where melting like butter.  We got devices on 3 and 6, and people actually knew how to cover the hacker without putting them in more danger.  Wave 10 was a rather long escort, but with everything dying so fast, it wasn't an issue at all.

Must have been me, mate. Sorry that happened to you. What happened was clearly an error, because - normally - you should only be seeing bots based on the host's character. What basically happens, is I delete my character briefly and I repeat a process that spawns bots. When I'm done, I spawn right back in by typing "respawn" in the console. What happened to you, is likely a console error. Again, sorry for that. I just wanted to surprise you guys with lots and lots of red Collectors. There was no malintent on my part.

For the record, 99% of my games are regular games. So, don't be afraid to stay next time. If I do want to test some stuff, I will call it out in the lobby.

As for the topic: played with a bunch of capable pugs last night, although lots of them are so quick to shoot missiles in later waves... for points I guess.

As in, I continue to not learn my lesson when it comes to a lot (most?) of pugs. 

 

First, Gold/Reapers/London ... Host is brand new, other two pugs are fairly new-ish / intermediate - we had just played a previous game where I had to clutch waves 8 + 9, but overall the group wasn't too bad (didn't die over and over, tried to help, etc.). So we move on to London - I am QFE and freezing everything and pugs are detonating/killing - good times for all. The match is going very smooth - I hadn't died and collectively the pugs hadn't died many times at all. Then Wave 10 ... 

 

Wave 10 is devices - the first one is the one in the very center open to pretty much everything. Given the make-up of the team I'm already muttering 'Oh ****'. I'm close by and immediately go for the device - I figure if I can get this one over with quickly we/I should be able to get the others ... I jump on the device and hear/feel two banshees getting closer and closer ... 'Someone will missile, right?' ... lolnope. With about 5 or 6 seconds left on the device, half of my brain is screaming for me to just get up and flee then come back; the other half of my brain is going 'almost done, maybe someone can see what is happening and will missile - get through this one and we're good'. Should have left. As soon as my impaled Quarian's body hits the ground, then a missile comes. No one gets on the device. Sure enough, within two minutes - 'Mission scrubbed - we're outta here'. 

 

Later with a different group, we're on Wave 3(!) Rio/Collectors. The objective is targets. We get through the targets but the 3 pugs are having a revive party near the extraction zone. All that's left are a couple of Collector Captains (one possessed), a Possessed Trooper, and a couple of other troopers. I rush over (stupidly) to start reviving ... everyone's up but I get 17 swarms detonated on me at once and go down. Pugs are right there - they'll get me up, right? Again, lolnope. I should have just gelled, but no, like an idiot I thought 'someone will get me up and even if they don't it's only a few troopers/captains they can handle this'. All it takes is another possessed swarm detonated on the pugs and some captain bullets and the pugs are down. 'Mission scrubbed - we're outta here'. I guess med-gels really are scarce. 

 

A Wave 3 wipe ... I can't even. Good job, wufpup. I'm exceptionally terrible on Rio - especially against Collectors, but seriously - a Wave 3 wipe? I can't remember the last time that happened. Pugs, you do make this game interesting.
