My Justicar landed in a Russian Krogan Soldier's solo Hazard White Cerberus Gold game at the end of round two. Nobody else joined so we duo'd the thing. Devices, hack, pizzas. Full extraction. Between the two of us, one missile and one down the entire match. We kicked Cerberus's asses. I only had time for the one game tonight, but damn was it satisfying.

 

Edit: I just went back and looked at the scoreboard screenshot, and good goddamn if they weren't running a level one kit. And they still scored 176k to my 216k.

 

 

I'm telling you man, the pugs are getting awesome. I too have also had encounters with aparent solo seekers, and some of them turned out some of the most satisfying random duos I've had in the end.

 

 

This is true and strangely enough, my solo encounters with great pugs have happened on White quite frequently. I've had a couple of nice solo runs on Jade as well. It's weird how nobody else drops into the game, unless the pug set the game to private, but we just happened to drop into his game? Well maybe that isn't right since the times i did drop into these solo games it was always like in wave 2 or 3...idk...it's just weird in how nobody else joins for the rest of the games, but yeah...i agree with both of you. Those types of games are fun...two teammates holding the line against a slew of dangerous enemies and making it to extraction has that heroic feeling with the cliche` ending at extraction.

This time, it wasn't mine. Some Pug - who's name I should have written down - had some quite interesting waves. It said, "Gold/ Collectors/ Giant." In reality, it was a gigantic moshpit of all kinds of Reaper, Cerberus and Collector units. Interestingly, it wasn't your typical boss spam. There were lots and lots of Marauders, Captains, Collector Troopers, and Cerberus Troopers. All the bosses were kept at 10 units per boss, per wave; however, the lower-tier enemies came at you in large packs, and it was quite difficult to move around the map. Interestingly, I find that all the Trooper-like enemies kill you a lot faster than boss-type enemies in a mod like this. Imagine how fast you drop, when 50 Marauders have you in their sight. We wiped during a (crazy!) wave 10 Hack, when we got swarmed by the enemies.

My last 2 PuGs of the night yesterday were both failures. I blame Collectors. Mainly because I had them 4 times in 8 games, yesterday, and readied up my KroLord twice - only to never face Geth on N7 day. :l

As in, rubber-banding for a full 10 seconds while in hard cover.  Mercifully lost connection on wave 6.

 

Next, however, was: KROGAN!

 

Four krogan soldiers, Hazard White / Cerberus / Gold.  Were we mostly blind?  Yes.  Did it matter?  Lolno.  Full extraction, for Tuchanka! Noveria! Tuchankaaa!

Excruciating!

I've been working towards promotion challenges and was desperate to level up. I selected a level 13 Batarian soldier, which I sort of forgot about. Dropped in to a lobby of low rankers who were atleast level 20 except the level 8. I figured, **** it, I'll see if I can carry them. Wave three comes, I'm the only one (once again) in the hack circle and a banshee corners me. One player finally decides to come help kill the banshee but is warpped to death. I got to revive him but I'm grabbed by the banshee.

The rest of the team decided to come then and nuked her after she already impalled me. Another guy gets grabbed and the rest of the team gets warped to death. One guy uses his medi gel and revives the other last guy. Then he sprints off as the guy who just got revived is also grabbed.

Then the pain began. For 15 minutes this basic human adapt cicles the banshee with his tempest and uses his warp. I don't think he even realizes what a biotic explosion is. He runs out of his tempest ammo about three times (I wish you could see enemy health bars in spectator mode). So then I'm thinking, she's got to be dead soon. At the end of the 15 minutes of embarrassing spectation, the guy rolls right in to the teleporting banshee's grab.

I guess I'll just work on leveling tomorrow.

Garbage

 

Tried to drop into two PUG matches this morning. First one was a miserable Hydra/Collectors/Gold match that went sideways pretty consistently. It ultimately ended in failure when I burned my last medigel trying to complete the Wave 10 escort by myself because everyone else bled out. I get abomination-humped literally feet from completing the objective and that left me open to everything else trying to snipe me, so we failed. Second match was AGAIN Collectors, but at least we did okay and survived and nobody's PS3 froze.

 

Took a break. Turned the PS3 off so it could recover from Collector framerates.

 

Decided to PUG again this afternoon. First match in, everything is going swell and then my Internet drops me. I log back in and try again, finding a fun room. We get ONE match in that was great and fun. Then, U/U/G throws Hazard Ghost/Collectors at us. Everything is going surprisingly well, even considering I'm trying to BatGuard against Collectors, and then clean-up on Wave 6 sees me hard freeze. 

 

Why did Collectors get added again? Boy, it's so much fun bricking my system over and over again just to play U/U/G.

Guess I'll go back to playing Civ 5 again until I am no longer mad.

Fell into a lobby with one other guy, preset to Cerebus/Hydra. He readies up and I'm game, so we start. I lose track of him in the first wave and finally realize he's camping the glitch spot. It irritates me, but I figure if he comes down and helps on objective waves I'll let it be. Nope, of course he doesn't. Now, I don't mind carrying PUGs that are lower levels or whatnot, but I have no tolerance for campers, let alone cheating campers. FINALLY, wave 10 packages. I drop off the first package and this guy isn't even giving me cover fire anymore because now he's glitch hiding behind some crates. So I pick up the 2nd package and walked around the map for the remaining 3 minutes.

It was my first time holding out on delivering the pizzas.. Felt kinda nice

I was pugging uup with a friend and we got four smooth games in a row. Everybody knowing what they are doing, rocketing in close situations, helping with objectives... solid.

The "Hah" comes from once again taking top score with the Volus Mercenary Sentinel while simultaneously playing babysitter/medic and holding the frontlines. It always feels good to showcase to people saying things like "I can't wait until I get the ghost and harrier" just how useful and underappreciated a volus is!

People don't see this but Volus merc actually accounts for 3 kits, 4 if Venom and 10 if Geth

Granted that's not technically one word.

U/U/G turned up FBW/Cerberus - team isn't amazing but we're scraping through despite an annoying amount of lag - not unplayably bad but far less than ideal, especially when using a Vorcha Soldier. Things like enemies teleporting up ladders, and ladders not working for me... just a bit crappy.

 

By about wave 8 I'm starting to hear some muttered comments in a (possibly) Spanish accent over the mic; not really paying attention and I can't really hear him properly.

 

Wave 10 is a pizza delivery, we get the first one in easily enough but the second is a clusterf**k - 2 people downed with either synch-kills or dropped and stomped (I'm guessing they were out of gel); I'm covering the guy walking the pizza across the "balcony" by the ammo box near the LZ and he drops the pizza to cloak or whatever.... there are a couple of Atlases and some Phantoms and Troopers or Centurians or something just below us around the LZ.

 

So, I pop a rocket and fire ... only to have it go dud, it somehow missed the floor. I love lag.

 

I grab the pizza, pop an Ops pack and manage to get it into the drop off point ... then leg it. The other guy doesn't follow... he just gets killed and stomped and then starts ranting over the mic in heavily accented English "You think you so clever, you're an idiot - I'd like to see how you do in REAL WAR on YOUR OWN" ... blah blah blah, rant rant rant....

 

And I thought having to clean up Cerberus solo is bad, with lag worse ... but with this numpty ranting over the mic as well ... Nope.

Hmmm.... let's see, I have 90 million credits, a maxed manifest and some muppet yelling over the mic on the clear up of wave 10? Hell yes!

 

I hope the immediate "Mission Failed" message cheered up the angry hombre

 

 

 

I should point out that myself and angry-hombre were the only 2 to break more than about 35k points by this time (he was on about 80k and I was on about 140k or something) the other 2 were perhaps 25k and 35k - it wasn't a great game... if he hadn't been ranting at me over the mic I would have at least attempted to clear the wave ... but screw it.
