one-angry-hombre

Granted that's not technically one word.

U/U/G turned up FBW/Cerberus - team isn't amazing but we're scraping through despite an annoying amount of lag - not unplayably bad but far less than ideal, especially when using a Vorcha Soldier. Things like enemies teleporting up ladders, and ladders not working for me... just a bit crappy.

By about wave 8 I'm starting to hear some muttered comments in a (possibly) Spanish accent over the mic; not really paying attention and I can't really hear him properly.

Wave 10 is a pizza delivery, we get the first one in easily enough but the second is a clusterf**k - 2 people downed with either synch-kills or dropped and stomped (I'm guessing they were out of gel); I'm covering the guy walking the pizza across the "balcony" by the ammo box near the LZ and he drops the pizza to cloak or whatever.... there are a couple of Atlases and some Phantoms and Troopers or Centurians or something just below us around the LZ.

So, I pop a rocket and fire ... only to have it go dud, it somehow missed the floor. I love lag.

I grab the pizza, pop an Ops pack and manage to get it into the drop off point ... then leg it. The other guy doesn't follow... he just gets killed and stomped and then starts ranting over the mic in heavily accented English "You think you so clever, you're an idiot - I'd like to see how you do in REAL WAR on YOUR OWN" ... blah blah blah, rant rant rant....

And I thought having to clean up Cerberus solo is bad, with lag worse ... but with this numpty ranting over the mic as well ... Nope.

Esc > Quit Mission

Are you sure you want to quit?

Hmmm.... let's see, I have 90 million credits, a maxed manifest and some muppet yelling over the mic on the clear up of wave 10? Hell yes!

I hope the immediate "Mission Failed" message cheered up the angry hombre :P

I should point out that myself and angry-hombre were the only 2 to break more than about 35k points by this time (he was on about 80k and I was on about 140k or something) the other 2 were perhaps 25k and 35k - it wasn't a great game... if he hadn't been ranting at me over the mic I would have at least attempted to clear the wave ... but screw it.

I think he still gets the wave 10 credits though. Don't know for sure.

Cohesive:

Every so often you have just a massive treat of a pug game you don't see coming.

Condor, Geth, Gold I join on wave one.  There is a Juggy, myself as a grenade vorcha, another vorcha and a krogan.  Now we all know condor is a problem at the best of times and it naturally filters a team apart from each other.  this game for whatever reason the Juggy was holding his own at choke points and the other three of us just roamed en-mass around the map for basically the whole match.  One tense objective but other than that we were never in trouble and no one got separated from the group to any extent.

Not-Ideal

I used a hyphen .. so that makes it 1 word, right?

Land in a URG lobby with 3 really low N7 people, who immediately see me and ready up. Between the 3 of them there is an Explosives 1 ammo equipped. However, as I many times play as a low N7 with no consumables, I need to give the benefit of the doubt to these 3.

Turns out they were all newer ... but they did all contribute on objective waves and used in game consumables, so not so bad. Happy I could help them get full credits, but they were certainly lacking in DPS. This ofc allows me to grow my epeen by posting quite the score ...

Partial extraction later, my community service was complete ..

Amazing latency.

Considering I just put ME3 on the new desktop, and that computer doesn't even have wireless, only a dongle, I had some really very smooth games.

I wanted to see how bad the lag would be, so I took my trollolololgineer to silver for some fun.  Fun was had, but no lag.

Teamwork.

I was trying to PUG Gold with my GPR-wielding GE, but somehow I ended up in a Platinum lobby and didn't even notice it. Luckily I had AP IV, Targeting VI IV and Cyclonic II, so I wasn't totally unprepared, but it still had all the makings of a catastrophe.

Reapers/Goddess. It all went surprisingly smoothly, as people stayed relatively organized and kept reviving and otherwise helping each other when necessary. There was one nasty moment where we all went down at the same spot with a Prime and a Banshee watching over our bodies (stupid me, I shouldn't have been there); I had to clutch that situation but it was pretty hard as I had trouble dodging while getting up and using cover for quick missile switch because of all the revivable bodies around me. But we managed.

Extraction was a horrible mess, as someone (or maybe all of them, I didn't pay much attention) started masturbating with missiles. But somehow we all made it out alive. Good game!

It goes to 11

Made time for a few games tonight before I went a'DA2ing (time to get ready for that DAI!), but was only able to play two due to matchmaking being slow. The first one I'm hosting U/U/P and get 2 people who likely just got the game within the last week (no consumables, uncommon gear lvl 1 etc.) but since there's a time issue I'm like "whatev." Eventually a TGI Harrier guy shows up to fill the last spot, and I decide to, in the spirit of making the game go faster, switch to the AIU.

The game starts and I speed away with Adrenaline module, only to hear the sound of missiles being fired off in the background. Of course! The Asari Justicar had the Adas on and was planning on glitching!       duh :pinched:

The TGI leaves as soon as he can, so it's down to me, the Justicar glitcher and the Jugg pug - who was religiously following the Asari around, prepared to revive her. Not to be taken for a ride (I mean how selfish do you have to be to come into someone else's lobby and glitch?), I stay till wave 3, hoping for pizza. It's a hack, unfortunately, but it isn't long until both the pugs go down and DON'T GEL??! :?

Yay! I go hug a brute and get dropped pretty quick - and I'm greeted with sounds of "c'mon! get up man!"

As if. You don't gel, I don't gel

Game 2 was awesome.

I switched to my human infiltrator and was promptly joined by two DAIs, complete with widow and black widow. Nobody else joins, so I decide to ready up, thinking that this is going to be one lolsy game. We enter as a trio, and get Londen vs Collectors. I absolutely wrecked waves 1-9, and despite one of the drell leaving wave 3ish after getting synced (he was eventually replaced by an AIU), I was expecting a smooth end to a smooth game.

Wave 10 was escort, and I have to say that I wish we had gotten the center hack instead. This escort put all my recollections of horrible London Hack Experiences to shame: primes and crabs and banshees kept spawning all over us (even worse than the hack!) and there was no room for circling the map and doing it that way. I'm pretty sure we used ALL our missiles and most of our gels, but we made it up the stairs and to the LZ side of the overpass. Somehow we all three survived the escort and were able to mop up.

Wave 11 ended in disaster, but I blame...all the snow we got today! It put me in a melancholy mood :D

I'll take a laggy Condor game with bugged ammo boxes and invisible enemies over a London center hack with a clueless team every time. But I do feel your pain.  :D

Underestimated!

Ghost/Reapers/Gold. Team is a Shotgun QFI (Me) A Vorcha Engineer with a GPR, A hurricane Volus Adept and a Human Male vanguard with a Particle Rifle and some shotgun, I forget what, now. Okay, so, I broke 80k points on WAVE 5 of this game. There's carrying, and then there's this. Or so I thought.

But then I got banshee magnet grabbed! I thought for sure we were done for, but the others managed to quickly and efficiently wrap things up. Wait, WHAT!?

So apparently... I was just... better than them to the extent that I was shaming them? Honestly, I was dumbfounded! I don't think of myself as a good player, but... maybe I'm not giving myself quite enough credit? I mean, these guys were clearly not experienced ME3 players, what with aiming incinerate directly at the enemy despite the cover, and hilariously whiffed melee attacks. However, their gunplay was good, like they had experience from other shooters. And without me hogging all the glory, they were almost gold-worthy. (I say almost because they went down a lot. But lag was a thing and I died a lot, too, maybe I'm being too harsh!)

Anyways, lag was bad and wave 6 only seemed to spawn marauders/ravagers/brutes, making recovery/delivery/whatever you call it a total nightmare. We did wipe, and then my game froze. But... honestly, I wasn't annoyed with my team. Sure, they may have been making uninformed choices with loadouts but that's all part of learning the game. And they made an earnest, honest effort.

*salutes* I'm only sorry I goofed too bad to see you guys to extraction.

Glacier Hazard Cerberus Gold. My Cryo Soldier and someone else's Fury in a shameless battle for points. Devices, devices, devices. I had to do 8 or 9 of the devices myself while the others nuked spawns across the map, dumping Phantoms right on top of me, plus I lost sound halfway though the match, but I'm proud to report that at the end, I beat out the Fury to top the board.

straining

Joined a gold lobby with two juggs, preset to cerberus. A collector adept completed the lobby and I switched to asari adept for biotic synergy (in fact I'm scared by fückin' phantoms, but shhh...). We got Rio and I was not able to stay alive. Tried to hunt the mooks and stasis them but they spreaded all over the walkways and I never got more than one. In the heat of the battle I even tried to stasis dragoons. They laughed. And whiped my a$$.

We lost the coldept during wave 3 or 4, he got never replaced. Around Wave 6 the juggs seemed to stop using their weapons and saved their pulses (because of damage reduction, of course) and startet the good ol' handwork (= heavy melee).

It's not easy to curve warp and throw around two large hex shields. So I had to find my own atlas for biosplosions. After this I came back to redeem the atlas behind the hex shields.

Wave 10 Pizza was a nightmare. After practicing in some silver matches this was the first time I tried a pizza run, when it counts. And Rio is a long run. The enemies spawned in the middle, my juggibuddies tried to distract them to get my blue asari in one piece to the lz. One juggy fell and bled out. The second pizza was surrounded by phantoms, dragoons and turrets. We had revive cycles, clearing- and rage missiles, all-you-can-eat ops pack party and all that, but somehow I managed to deliver the second pizza and died. Had no gel left and juggybuddy was "running" for me but didn't make it in time.

Next 5 minutes we spectated him spinning around a big box, finishing the remaining two atlasmechs with heavy melee and cryo ammo hornet (ice cold killah!)

During extraction wave we hold the lz-side of the map. went okayish, but I managed to miss the shuttle, because of safety-missiling an approaching atlas.

A bit over 30 minutes of happy gaming. Not.

Inevitable.

I was looking for an UUG game with my GI, to complete the 200k Javelin challenge. Joined a lobby preset to Cerberus/Glacier (nope), host was a SI with a pistol or SMG. There were also a Batarian Slasher (Cluster Grenades, nope) and QME (Arc Grenades, nope) and promptly left.

I joined and left several other lobbies and ME3 tried to get me back into the Glacier game twice.

After a while I joined a game in progress. Guess which? Yep, the ****** Cerberus/Glacier one I tried to avoid. It was the end of wave 3 and I thought "Whatever, I don't care anymore, I'll snipe anyway even if we wipe." First thing I noticed? Brutal lag. Because having 2 Dragoons and a Phantom gang up on you isn't bad enough, they did it by warping all over the place.

Did you know that if you shoot a Dragoon in the chest when they are almost hugging you then it counts as headshot? That's how I got the first 5 headshots.

I really thought I was doing badly, having used two ops packs and a medigel by wave 5 but then I checked the scores. Uhm yeah, I was on top. I lowered my expectations even further and predicted a wipe around wave 9.

Wave 6 got us a hack in the lower area and I concentrated on taking down every Atlas and Turret I could see (and I can see and shoot through walls). Whenever the screen wasn't shaking I went for headshots on Phantoms and Nemeses (? What's the proper plural for those?) and somehow we survived until wave 9. It was then that I completed the Javelin challenge and briefly switched to my GPS to clear out the enemies a little faster. Even without any shotgun gear or weapon mod and with phasic ammo I had no trouble taking down entire groups. Despite the lag even, which was surprising. I did stop reviving people and concentrated on surviving and killing stuff instead though.

Wave 10 was escort. I used my last missiles somewhere during wave 8 or 9 and no one else seemed to have some, so I had to take down two Atlas (seriously, what's with Cerberus and plural?) and company with the Javelin but somehow we made it through. Each of us went down 2-3 times though.

Finally, wave 11! I didn't expect we'd make it so far. And suddendly, kill feed spam because those morons -now- used their missiles. And got themselves killed because the enemies spawned on top of them. Duh. Still managed a full extraction with 24min on the timer. A bit on the long side but still acceptable.

I couldn't leave that lobby fast enough, trying to headshot laggy targets in melee range wasn't what I signed up for.

Collectors/Rio/Gold.  I swear there where Praetorians EVERYWHERE.  I don't think it was modded, but it was like every time I turned around, there was another one coming for me.  It was the first time I've had a wipe on gold with a good teammate in a long time.

60FPSDongleHype

So, it turns out, with some repositioning of my computer, my internet is no worse, relatively speaking, than it was when I was using wireless.  Which isn't necessarily saying much, but since broadband is no better than wireless out here, and will remain so until Google Fiber swallows the earth, that is fairly good news.  Means I'll be semi-regularly playing the game again...at least until DA:I comes out.

Also, this game is so much better with 60FPS.  It's so smooth it brings a tear to my eye.

Heh - I have limits, if a PuG lobby meets any of the following criteria, I generally bail:

  • 3 infils (unless it's platinum - then I'll Jugg)
  • 2 Juggs
  • preset Cerberus
  • preset Geth
  • preset map

... Glacier, Cerberus with 2 Juggs? That's an instant bail on three counts! :P

I do apologize but your terminology is obscure. You speak as if either a dongle or broadband is mutually exclusive with wireless and so I have no idea what you are telling us. Except that things are better, or at least no worse. I'd like to be glad for you but I have no clue as to why.

Basically, 've not been playing ME3 for the past few weeks because my new computer doesn't have built-in wireless, only broadband, while my house only has wireless, no broadband.  I was supplied with a dongle, but I was getting about 40 kb/s internet speed, which was horrible.

By some marvellous feat of feng shui, I found respositioning my computer very slightly meant my internet speed went from 40 to about 900 kb/s.  Which is still worse than most urban broadband, but was good enough to play ME3 on previously.

So, I'm back.  For a week.  Until DA:I comes out.  Marvelling at the amazing smoothness of gameplay and getting sync-killed because I'm not paying attention to the enemies.
