Capn233 versus Brutes and Husks

 

That's what it was in a nutshell. Capn233 joined my lobby for one game, but it was one he is sure to remember. His Saber Geth Engineer got into a fight with hundreds of Brutes, Husks, Banshees and Praetorians. The latter two were less frequent, but the Brutes and Husks were on the battlefield as far as the eye could see. All kinds of crazy stuff happened...we got slaughtered during certain waves, held our ground during other waves, there were sync-kills...all very memorable stuff. I wonder what capn233 thought of this little game.

Loaded up for my first game of the day with a Vorcha sent, landed in a UUG lobby with three relatively new (N7 and CP of all three were in the 160-280 range for both stats) players, none with any piercing mods or equipped gear. You have to start somewhere, so I switch to a more reliable carry build (HI Widow) and ready up. And stay readied up for five minutes or so while I wait for any sign of life from the others, to no avail. I left to find another match and dropped into a Hydra/Cerb match in progress.

 

Next match I search for a new lobby again and stumble into the same host from the first lobby, but this time they leave and the host migrates over to someone else (anyone but me is usually a net positive for the group)... someone I think I recognise as a good player from previous matches running a GI Javelin. In pops another player I know from my region leader-boards and a few good games in the past (Jugg Reegar), we ready up (I've gone back to my Vorcha Claymore), land in White/Geth, and are quickly joined by another player I think I've played with before running another GI Javelin. I would have been hard pressed to find a better, more cooperative and coordinated (not that anyone talked... it's still a PC PuG) team if I were inviting people off my friends list.

Joined a modded match, was surprised by a metric fuckton of Geth Primes, Praetorians and other galactic scum. Somehow survived until the end of the extraction wave with approximately 100 Praetorians permastaggering everyone to death.

 

Was pretty lulzy.

Uhhh, the Praetorian-only and Banshee-only waves tend to frustrate me a lot.

The main problem seemed to be a Flamer Vorcha who seemed to think it was just as easy in Gold as Silver

didn't quite get through wave 10 but finished the objective

Zombie + Drivable Atlas mod.

 

U/U/G landed me in Giant/Reapers. I was the host and started solo with a PUG, FatherJack82 (Drell Assassin), joining in wave 3.  Pretty smooth game with the most difficult wave being wave 9, when we got chased by two Banshees and had to run around the whole map with Cerberus turrets all over the place.  I don't recall seeing FatherJack82 on BSN but he was clearly a very good player.  I doubt we could have made it to extraction without his Recon Mines taking out whole bunches of husks and A-bombs at a time.  It was unfortunate that I had to nuke him with multiple A-bombs when the EZ got overrun in the dying seconds. 

 

Edit:  Oh yeah ... did not see a single Atlas so I probably have to set the game to Cerberus next time.

Tried the Batarian Soldier for the first time on platinum - and he sure did not disappoint! Great game vs cerberus on white.

 

I stay in the lobby to buy a new AR and TheShadyEngineer shows up, I leave though as some random pug that by the looks of his CP, gear and consumables have no business running platinum games - sorry but I was just not up for a game that would take longer time than needed.

Different,

 

Land in a platinum lobby and the first thing I see are super high n7 and CP on 2 players there, this will be easy I'm thinking. I soon realize that 2 of them are lvl 1.....

 

They certainly look like they know what they are doing with UR Xs and lvl IV consumables - but to be on the safe side I switch over the ultimate cheese TGI with PPR (well second after TGI + Carrier).

 

We get cerberus on reactor and manage full extraction (the 4th player DC on wave 9) - a new score record for me in a 4 man platinum game but those 2 lvl 1 guys were good.

 

And I unlock Wraith IX after the game, so a good MEMP night.

Whoever was hosting kept using the restarting wave trick until I lost connection to the game.  Kinda funny when it's been hard to get games going on PC and I can play through several on Wii U with little trouble.

The Lobotomizer

 

Tried to host some UUP but didn't have a soul join so I switched to Gold. Naturally, three people join almost immediately and ready up as soon as they hit the lobby. I end up picking the HE with an Incendiary Arc Pistol and was quite pleased to see Cerberus pop up on Glacier. It's always a joy to get the 20 headshot medal before the 25 kills one, but despite kicking some serious ass (~200k) we didn't extract.

 

Wave 11 started with the pugs camping the LZ  and, like moths to the flame, phantoms and dragoons soon followed suit. The pugs were dead within the first 30 seconds or so but I, on the other hand, am having a grand 'ol time poppin' bitches on the other side of the map. And that's how it goes for a time, me just doing my thing -  a little headshot here, a little incinerate/overload there -  and as the timer nears 15 I start moseying towards the LZ.

 

And that's when I see her: a lone phantom standing at the end of the hallway (glacier, by LZ), sword to the side and palm raised. I can tell from her stance that she's quite intent on making me miss my shuttle, but I ain't got time for that so I start shooting. My first shot hits her square in the face (doing some good damage) and I line up the next one to finish her off. I miss her head    but end up hitting her sword, knocking it out of her hand.

 

At this moment I glance at the time and see that I have only 3 seconds left before my ride leaves. Satisfied (if not pleased) with the result of our little encounter, I sprint by her towards the LZ, but not before yelling "hah next time bitch!"

 

This is, of course, where she stabs me. With her hilt. Or ya know, whatever's left of that damn sword.

I usually feel the same.

But observing bsn'ers with level I characters and low level consumables on alt accounts (=low CP,N7) dominating in platinum makes me think twice...

Indeed, but a quick look at the load out will tell you if they know at least the basics. This particular fellow was running explosive ammo II (no other consumables and no gear) equipped with a BPP II and a Crusader I on a vanilla Human adept (how he possibly could have at least 3 UR:s with 100 CP is beyond me though). That load out tells me 4 things : 1. He will be dead most of the game. 2. For the few seconds not eating dirt he will be busy spreading the enemy all over the map. 3. With that load out he will be able to use his powers like twice the entire game. 4. The chances of a single bullet actually hitting a target would be smaller than getting a UR card in the RNG store

Had 20 mins to kill last night before RL interfered

 

Loaded up my GI with a Katana and quick searched, landed in a UUS lobby which became Rio Collectors .. booo!! Damn game knew I only had 20 mins, so OFC it gives me the biggest damn map in the game

 

It was going quite smooth until the wave 10 hack at the back of the boat, when the possessed praetorian decided to stasis my PS3 at the very end of the hack.
