Judging by today it seems it is geth weekend.Geth
As in almost every lobby I join is preset to geth! Is this geth weekend or something? Did I miss the memo?

Stephen - I'm in a similar position to you since I just started last fall. I do mostly silver now and am trying to get better at gold. When I first moved to silver the speed difference from bronze felt overwhelming and the majority of my time was spent trying not to die. And there is the same issue now for gold. But you get used to it over time. I still do stupid things like pressing the wrong key or going into cover at the wrong time or running into a swarm instead of away from them. But it's generally happening less (well, I still have those days where I die 5 times on Wave 1 but not as often. Sorry rest of my team, I'm sure you really wanted those revive medals
). Playing with good players means I am almost always at the bottom of the scoreboard, especially on gold, but I help with objectives, revive people and learn new tricks after a banshee or phantom just sync-killed me and I'm spectating. Also, they generally have better weapons so they can do more damage.
TL;DR - I feel your pain and unfortunately it just takes time to get used to the higher levels. But they will get better.
OH and YES. There is always a dragoon behind you!

HAH. Oh and the TSent is one of the very few kits I use for gold. He's a good all-purpose type. Use cover and "run away" a lot because those guys hit a lot harder on gold (and on silver relative to bronze). Oh yeah - and don't forget to turn on your Tech Armor. Apparently, that was an issue for certain players from BSN (cough...marksmad...cough)
And if you play on PC, shoot me a FR. My Origin ID is the same as my BSN one.

We all spent our time in the grind to get the good weapons, to fight the RNG (and make sacrafices). Along the way to getting better weapons you become a better player. BSN has helped me a lot - there is a lot of wisdom in these pages. Also, watching sme of the you-tube posts has been enlightening. There are a lot of really good players out there, and they love to help others.

Tonymac, I just have to ask: Did I meet you in a London/Geth game, two days ago? (If you remember of course.
). You were playing the Geth Infiltrator with a Phaeston and you warned us about the double Primes. (btw. Thank you for that warning!) I was the Asari Valkyrie. Good game. ![]()

I try sometimes, I really do. I was the all black GI trying to save lives with that little pop gun.
So, that was you! Very good playing. I seem to recall a Puggernaught too, and a Turian that was most unhelpful. If thats the same game, they all run together in my memory. Your playing stood out though. I'll be sure to annoy you with some heavy melees as a nod to your playing ability! ![]()

Carried
Did three games of Silver Cerberus with randoms. Thus far, I've found Cerberus and Geth to be quite fun on Silver; Reapers can go either way; and Collectors are soul-crushing misery that send me screaming back to Bronze.
Played a turian Sentinel because he doesn't die within five seconds of something appearing on the screen. Maps were randomly selected, and were Glacier, Giant, Giant Hazard.
The three games were actually really fun, but I know I'm doing it wrong. Everything I _want_ to do (stay in cover, try to keep an eye on my surroundings, take it slowly) just goes out the window when the things are swarming from every angle and there's nowhere to run to. So it becomes a matter of spamming Overload, letting the other players do the work, and trying to stay out of trouble. (Got the 25 kills and 50 assists medals in the three games for that reason).
The hack objectives can be quite fun because everyone is looking in a different direction to cover each other. I kinda want the whole game to be like that.
I cannot comprehend how to do this as any class other than a power spammer. I'd not have five seconds to line up a shot without something else appearing out of nowhere and ruining my day.
There is _always_ a Dragoon behind me.

You already seem to have made some progress by going out and pugging Silver with good results. Seriously, there is good advice for you here. Especially listen to FairfaxGal because she was starting in Bronze not long ago and by building her confidence with good teammates (like TonyMac) and some scrubby ones (like me) she's really gotten able and confident on Gold.
Check the Looking for Group subforum and get into the AHF, there are some really great players on there who are willing to help newcomers earn credits and move up. (And getting better weapons/gear with those credits really helps to move up, too.)
And yes, don't forget to turn on your Tech Armor.(*)
(*) The group I play with most has a protocol where we all remind each other at spawn-in. Ever since the time we remembered to turn it on at wave 10

Yes, tech armour is my friend. I played a Sentinel in single-player; in ME2, it needed reactivating at the beginning of each mission, so it's a matter of getting back into that habit.
I'd really like to play as a quarian, but they're squishy compared with the TSent. I'm okay with my QFE with a Cyclonic; did a fun match like that a week or so ago. On the other hand, I've also been kicked from a lobby with that sort of setup, presumably because the other players didn't want to carry a PUG who was clearly relying on crutches.
Running away is definitely good advice! As long as there's somewhere to run to. In the latter stages of Reaper games, or the middle stages of Collector games (which I am actively avoiding for the time being because they're just not any fun), I tend to find myself pinned down by bosses. It's a matter of adjusting my mental notes of what to expect in each wave; boss swarms don't happen in Bronze, but now I need to remember to expect them.
The extraction waves are the hardest, I think. In Bronze, they're fun, an opportunity to rack up some more kills before finishing. (My QFI loves them, a never-ending stream of mooks to take sniper-rifle shots at). But in Silver, they're mental! Dragoons and Phantoms everywhere! (No, I'm not trying to camp the LZ! Not doing that was one of the first things I learned when I started lurking here).
Thanks for the FR offer. I only play on PS3 though.

Maybe I was just so glad not to get geth, I didn't think things through properly. Dropped into a lobby with three pugs preset to Reapers/Condor. Now the highest N7 was ~200, but we all know N7 doesn't equal skill, so I say why the not let's take the Cabal out for a spin.
Quick look at load outs should have told me what to expect, as the 'best' equipped pug was a GI, with disciple, commando package (that's right!) and nothing else.
Wave 1 = 25 kills
Wave 4 = 50 kills
Wave 6 = 75 kills
Wave 8 = banshee grab whilst trying in vain to revive last remaining pug
Moral to the story is obviously be careful what you wish for. Shoulda just stuck to the geth lol.

Honestly, I don't remember anybody else from that match but you, because you were so good with the GI! Even with the Phaeston enemies died so quickly. You also gave us some tips, so I remembered your name.
And let's not forget that you revived me a couple of times when I stupidly ran into Rocket Troopers and Pyros. It's always nice to have a knowing, reviving teammate, so thank you!

Glazier hazard/collectors/gold
Carried 3 pugs to their crs with a kit I'm not great with.
Finished on 170k with the jugg in second on 60k odd.
Knew things would be rough when we got devices on wave 3 and two of the pugs kept joining me to hack them quicker lol.
Oh well, at least they tried hard so I didn't just rage quit.

We Geth are merciless, and you guys were getting harshed by some triple tapping rocket troopers and pyros and hunters. If only I had tear ducts; flashlights cannot cry. However, I got those reaperized bastard back for you.
It was a lot of fun stomping face with you. I look forward to more.

I saw you in a Silver pug I tiptoed into a few weeks ago. I was lagging horribly due to network hilarity though, and didn't manage to do anything much. Might even have lagged off the server before the game was over.

"bestofthebest"
Yet another "bestofthebest" who demonstrates grind-of-the-grindest. The only non-infiltrator on the team, the last to the escort mission. When he starts getting seriously outscored: quits the mission forcing it to find a new host.

Ugh Collectors
3 gold Collector games, 3 wipes. Two of them were almost saved by the clutch play of Tonymac but alas it was not meant to be. My poor Kroguard was getting a little too up close and personal with the Praetorians (and occasional Scion) in those two games.
Yay Geth!
Thanks to Tonymac again we almost all extracted on Giant/Geth gold. One of us forgot to watch the clock and didn't realize it until there were 7 seconds left and there I was on the opposite side of Giant from the extraction zone. Wouldn't have wanted to ruin a perfect day of not extracting on gold. ![]()
Silver
Mostly fun with a variety of characters and weapons. Fun playing with likevel again. And, of course, thanks to Tonymac for stomping a lot of faces with me on Silver as well.
And it was all worth it - I unlocked the Reegar!
