There are no words... no curses in any of the many languages of the lower planes... no vocabulary rich enough... to describe how much I despise Collectors. As if all the bullshit they routinely engage in wasn't enough, causing my poor PS3 to hang itself with 45 seconds to extraction was the feather that tipped the scales.

So can we kindly agree to preset the Gold games to anything but Collectors from now on? Preferably Cerberus. I'll take Phantom's 90% DR over Collectors any day of the week.

Other than that, great games and thanks for the company you three(you know who you are). We should do this again sometimes.

Oh and, Raider Valkyrie rawks!  I totally didn't do her justice, but man, I can learn... this, I can learn.

Yeah, the Collector freeze really sucks.  Would you believe an identical thing happened in my next game?!  Reapers/London.  Not sure if QMR froze too this time.

I also agree with your earlier assessment that there's no reason Stephen shouldn't try out some Gold with us.  And I'm not just saying that cos he outscored me with a Hornet 1 lol!

Wobblewobblewobblewobble....

There was a Krogan Shaman who spent the entire game (White Geth Gold) spamming shockwave. And the only place he would stand was right behind me.

Strangely, when he went down to a Pyro on wave 7, no one revived him. He bled out and the rest of that wave was more enjoyable.

To be fair, he didn't top the scoreboard, but he did devices and revived teammates while I was watching from spectator mode. I have strangely mixed feelings about this one.

I don't mind people who at least equip something and help with stuff even when they're not exactly suitable to the difficulty they're playing at. At least they're trying.

Last night though, something happened that make me mad. After I went to all the trouble of equipping myself properly to prepare for a possible carry, since the rest of the team were low n7/cp and they did not bother to equip anything--ALL THREE OF THEM, I **** you not, and after I went battling and killing around the field, the host left.

URGH that's maddening.

One of the hardest hacks to overcome...especially with collectors. You have scions hitting you with pulse cannons and carpet bombing grenades from across the map...combine that with seeker swarms, and praetorian lasers that seem to come outta nowhere and it becomes a nightmare to overcome in some scenarios. Sometimes you have to leave the hack to regroup or i've seen at least one teammate leave to distract the other enemies while the other 3 hack the circle...the said teammate has to be up to the task tho.

In any case, that London hack is pretty much brutal with any faction...:pinched:

Yeah it's a real pain in the A that hack.

The funny thing was, one pug spent the entire time on the wrong side of one of those stone block things, outside  the hack circle.

I know it's hard to see the circle on that map, but we probably would've got it done if he was in the zone.

Ah well. You win some, you lose some.

I could have come back, but too much alcohol already and a late hour. So I rather chose a semi-reasonable option and went to bed.

We'll drag Stephen to gold, you'll see. And the reason he did so good? Can't beat an asari :P

Even though QMR always does it with his quarians...

I've learned never to ready up until the host equips gear. If they don't, I leave. Because I've also learned that a host with no equipment invested in the game will leave 9 times out of ten when things get rough.

Surreal

Played a pair of matches with the same host. First one I joined in progress (Rio/Collectors) and it went well enough... I just missed extraction due to poor timing on my part and an inconvenient web. It happens.

The second match was something special. Jade/Cerberus was going smoothly until about wave 7 and then everything started to fly. Phantoms, the odd Nemesis, Dragoons, Atlases... me, my squad-mates. Time and space lost (almost) all meaning. This didn't seem to be affecting everyone (at least, to the same degree), and I've seen lag enough to know what was going on, but never quite like this. The highlight was wave 10 targets, when someone fired a rocket and the sound of it's flight lingered like a long note from a noh flute for the remainder of the wave, with the pitch changing as I moved in relation to where it had been fired. That was well worth getting stabbed through the gut on extraction (not that I could have seen it coming).

I really hate it when that happens!  Now I will leave every lobby in which the host did not invest in some consumables.

The only reason I outscored you was because I missile-panicked a couple of times.  Next time we play, I will play QFI; my "playstyle" of madly spamming powers and hoping for the best will not be an option, I will be reduced to attempting to point the rifle in vaguely the right direction, and will resume my place on the bottom of the scoreboard where I belong :-)

We'll drag Stephen to gold, you'll see. And the reason he did so good? Can't beat an asari :P

The asari adept is a fun kit for a hapless power-spammer like moi.  Enjoyed it back in Bronze, enjoyed it yesterday in Silver.  Will play again :-)

And as for Gold; c'mon guys, I'm nowhere near ready to be able to pull my weight at that level.  Given the quality of my team-mates, I can't even quantify whether or not I'm pulling my weight in Silver.  I know you can all carry me, but it'd be like those pugs with a clearly-out-of-his-depth player flailing around like a deranged gibbon...

It's only been a week since I joined BSN.  I've played fifteen or so games since then and have unquestionably improved at Silver-level with the help you've given me :-)  But there's no rush.

Also, I would need some better gear (Sol'Kayviem can't spam grenades when he only has three at a time) and an infinite supply of cyclonics!

The thing is, with a good team to help you on Gold, you will learn to play well far faster than hanging about on Silver. And it's not really that much harder, going up from Bronze to Silver is a bigger step. Few players are lucky enough to be able to learn by playing with the elite squad that has assembled around you.

If you take my advice, a couple weeks from now you'll be wondering why you ever felt hesitant, and a couple weeks after that you'll be carrying them. They are just a bunch of scrubs, after all :D

This is one of the wisest / truest statements I've seen recently.

Don't worry, I'd never try to force you to do something you don't feel comfortable with, but I want to highlight the fact 'carrying' a willing teammate is not the same as carrying a leecher.  You actually care about pulling your weight, which already elevates you above the average pug.  One of the obvious goals in this game is to become a good enough player to know that you can pug gold and extract most of the time, clutching occasional waves if necessary.  As marksmad says below, the best way of preparing for that is to play with experienced teammates and learn from them, gaining the higher credits which will hopefully get you better gear quicker.  That said, I am perfectly happy playing Silver if that's what you want - it does allow me to build my gels up a bit and play weapons I probably wouldn't take to Gold.

Okay then guys, how about this?

We'll try a few games of Gold next time we see each other.  I don't have much in the way of decent consumables or gear in stock, but I'll use what I have in order for it to be a fair test.

If I make it through with some semblance of dignity and find that the experience wasn't totally terrible, I'll concede that you were right and consider myself promoted :-)

However, if I make a total dog's breakfast of everything and am clearly out of my depth, you all concede to slum it in Silver with me for a little while longer.

Deal? :-)

Had a couple of games in a row with the same Puggernaut. Actually managed to beat Cerberus both times without raging about Phantoms or Turrets much.

Then I had a PuG where I had the smallest challenge point total. I took that as an excuse to use my Paladin, and it was going well until the game froze in Wave 8, so I called it a day.

To be scrupulously fair, you are all way better than the average pugs I seem to meet, AFAICT. And although my attempts to troll QMR into playing on PC so I can get a game with them have so far failed, everything I've heard suggests that "elite" is fully valid n their case at least.

Also, not playing with me and my other scrubs on Xbox: Reported.

Also, you're another one who never joins me and my other scrubs. Whenever I see you on XBL, you're on the damn Xbone. I can't imagine why you're on a platform that doesn't even have ME3. (Unless you're playing Halo, which I could forgive.) From now on I plan to harrass you mercilessly until you get some games in with me and Bailey/Brannigan/Paunchy/PATPATPAT/ark/Randall/Rusty/Purp/etc

I needed to complete 200 waves with this guy for a challenge. Therefore, I played this kit for at least six matches straight. Some dumb ass spoke up, and told me to, "Don't take that **** kit into my games. I won't revive you." First of all, I never let people tell me what I can or can't do. If you think I'm doing something crappy, just let me eat dirt. But honestly, I can make lots of seemingly bad combos work out great. Secondly, the person that speaks up...usually will not put their money where their mouth is. I ended up outscoring this clown with my "weak kit" a couple of times. The irony is, that he was awfully quiet after a couple of waves. Truly someone that's all talk, but couldn't walk the ****** walk.

Melee Batguard is an awesome kit, don't you agree? Didn't spec for Lash, at all. Never missed the power, because everything was getting smacked to bits. I actually had a couple of "Blade Armor kills" on bosses throughout those games. RealKobeBean [Blade Armor] Atlas. Pretty cool!

Power spamming is how it's meant to be done with AA :D Warp+Throw, with occasional shot from your weapon. I mean, if she can solo platinum that way, you know it's a right way to go. Stasis for phantoms and mobs.

Besides, lets be honest... if I can do gold, anybody can :P

Unlucky

Landded on a giant reapers game using asari dept with paladin pistol...not my preferred setup, with a team spamming tech powers...lost my rhythm, let alone getting distracted by my sons to get them to sleep, Endded up relying on using my warp debuff with paladin to ditch out most of my dmg rather using warp/throw/stasis for biotic detonation most of the time.

One of my longest gold games Endded in 30 mins :(
