Why the **** don't we run into each other anymore on the pc, mate? Next time, I will bring a sixpack of Heineken beers, okay? You bring the pizza. By the way, you claim to be a scrub...but you're actually a ****** wolf in sheep's clothing, dude. I have seen you tear some **** up, so just stop spreading false information around, mate :P Just start trash talking like all the elites do, haha. Anyway, it's always a blast.

Kobean, plox. You aren't even online right now :D

But TBH, it's prolly my fault. I'm near maxing my Xbox manifest (13 UR and about another 8M to go) so I've been pugging the feck out of ME3/XBL over there and haven't played much on PC this month.

I honestly am a scrub though. On PC I rely only on the most OP kits (flamer GT, BW SI, Venom AIU, etc) because I still have to look at the keyboard occasionally :P

Yep, my first game in months and it had to be Geth. Of course I got downed in wave 1 and being used to DAMP, waited for a little bit before I realised I could revive myself. It took quite a bit of getting used to, but I started finding my rhythm as the game progressed.

I did notice the same shitty PUGs still exist; bleeding out without even thinking about using a gel even on objective waves, and nuking **** unneccessarily on wave 11 when they would have been better served when we actually needed them.

Yeah, I'm a long way from home....

All on mics and seemed quite happy for me to tag along. All gold matches with everyone equipping amps; must be the peer pressure.

Carried

Couple of good UUG, then host switched to giant/Reapers/platinum. 2 TGI ' with PPRs, my huntress and a Krolord. Let's just say the Krolord got a bunch of credits for very little work.

I may have... umm, made a mistake on Dagger about the location of the LZ, only realized that I was supposed to be heading towards the lower side while I stood and fought at the higher side.

I guess it made me appear as if I was score hunting... urghhh... what a shameful display :((

Anyways, played a bunch of games with Mordokai and Quarian Master Race... man..., I rarely ever played a kit with Grenades but Arc Grenades is ridiculous.... A good lesson for me, hopefully I put up a display worthy of a BSN member last night, hahaha.

Don't kid yourself... you did great :) If anything, I should question my performance. I mean, sure, I was deliberately gimping myself(and I don't just say this because I sucked), but Incisor was the last SR I needed done for Sniper Rifle Mastery. It's not my favourite SR by far, but I finally managed to get enough points for completion on the extraction wave of our last match in Vancouver. So now I can finally go back to using Widow, Javelin and Black Widow. And Mantis. That one is great too :P

Or preferably, shotguns. I kinda like those more on my infiltrators. My SI is usually tottin' Claymore around, but I was quite impressed with your Black Widow skills yesterday. Mind sharing your build?

Also, where did you send me that PM from? It said it arrived from somewhere else than PS3 and I had no idea you could do that.

Brevity.

Spawned into GiP. Dagger Hazard Collectors. One other player. Wave 9. There is a Praetorian and a Scion staring straight at me. I dodge left, straight into the crossfire of two Captains. Downed. Other player goes down and bleeds out. I didn't think it worth continuing.

SecondTimeLucky

My QFI found herself in a U/U/S lobby with the host playing a geth (trooper or infiltrator, don't remember).  We started the match as a duo, got Giant Hazard/Geth.  He dropped twice in wave 1 and promptly ragequit.  Sigh.

Decided to stick around solo to see what would happen.  Got most of the way through wave 1 before some pugs appeared.  One was an N7 Shadow packing a Piranha who seemed like a reasonable player, about the same level as me.  The other was a human engineer who needed a lot of help, tended to wander off on his own and dropped a lot.  We couldn't always get to him to rez him so had to duo one or two of the waves; but all credit to him, he stuck it out.  We had a third pug at one point but he didn't stick around for long.

By wave 9, I was short of gel, ops packs and missiles and thought we might wipe.  Got pinned a couple of times and had to panic-missile.  I can't honestly say I've mastered Silver, it was hard work, though enjoyably so.  Geth can be brutal without a much-better-than-me player like Quarian Master Race to help me out :-)  Being short of ops packs serves to focus the mind, n'est-ce pas?

We made it to extraction.  There were Primes, Hunters and Pyros everywhere, and the last few metres of Giant are an obstacle course, which is my excuse for not quite making the LZ in time.  Neither did the N7 Shadow.  The human engineer, who had probably been camping there while the things were swarming around the rest of us, was the lone survivor :-)

'Scuse the camera flash and shaky hands...

20150201_hazard_giant_pug.png

If you'd told me a week ago that I'd have done that on Silver, I wouldn't have believed you.  The fact that I managed it playing as my darling QFI was the icing on the cake :-)

The engineer quit the lobby promptly after the match, so I started another game with the N7 Shadow.  Got Hydra/Cerberus, and a couple of other pugs dropped in soon after.  One was a Flamer vorcha, the other some flavour of asari.  It was a much more comfortable game, all four of us were of roughly equal ability.  I came third on the scoreboard, though there wasn't masses of difference between the four of us.  Didn't manage 20 headshots this time though, difficult to aim through the constant Flamer.  (Well, that's my excuse :-)

I did the pugs using the M-13 Raptor.  I hadn't used it much in multiplayer, though liked it in SP.  I tried it on a whim yesterday and it just clicked, I like the lower-power scope, the weapon just seems to fit with my playstyle.  Mel'Kayviem makes it sing :-)  I've also realized that now I'm more used to Silver and taking a bit less damage, I no longer need the shield booster gear on her, so I've replaced it with the vulnerability VI for extra headshotty goodness.

So yeah, a couple of decent games, made all the sweeter because I played well as my favourite character :-)

Meh.

Cerberus/Giant. Was alright for a Cerberus game until the wave 10 drone escort where I got synched by a Phantom mid-Falcon punch (BatSent/Kishok). And the GI/BW guy on the team was too busy scorewhoring to help.

I don't mind if he's not directly escorting the drone, GI after all isn't exactly ideally suited to that task - but if you're gonna sit back and snipe stuff, at least snipe the stuff that's swamping the guys who *are* escorting the drone rather than shooting stuff spawning away from them; having the respawn appearing right next to you is... annoying.

... well, it would have been had I not been dead already.

As an aside, the two poor buggers left trying to escort the drone were a Drell Infiltrator and a newbie Human Engineer (with a Locust and Phalanx). That Drell burned through rockets and gels like nobody's business but they did manage to get the escort done before getting nailed - leaving the GI to mop up.

It probably bears mentioning that I have all but retired from playing ME 3... and usually only get in maybe 5 or 6 games a month (usually when I'm drunk.) :P

You're like Cher you keep going in and out of retirement. The only way you'll retire from ME3 MP for good is if those squirrels chew through your internet cables again. *prays for squirrels it's for your own good buddy* :P

The usual SI sniping build, full Tactical Cloak for Sniper Damage, Proximity Mine up to 5 (increased damage to enemy), full Energy Drain, full weapon damage, and 3 to health/fitness.

I sent the PM from the Playstation App on my mobile. Wayyyy much easier to do it compared to typing on the PS3, if you can even call that typing.

Anyways, on-topic, multiple occurrences on various playthrough:

1. Failed a Platinum at wave 9 due to a friggin Phantom sneaking up from behind when I didn't realize it.

2. Numerous fun pug  Gold games... mostly with players with low N7/CP... I mean I am glad ME3 MP has new players but folks... try to play the difficulty level proper to your current level please, urgh.... or at least, equip something you bloody cheapskates. I didn't know why I always press Ready though... maybe I am a glutton for punishment....

3. Played a silver game just to relax against Cerberus on Rio using Vanilla Adept human.

WTF happened?!

Dagger/Reapers/Gold, and let's just say my HFE had as many points by the start of wave 10 as the rest of the team combined!
We get pizzas, I deliver the first one no problems. The claymore AIU goes for the second, then drops it, the the HFS goes for it then changes mind, ask the while god only knows what the Krolord is doing? So I say **** it I'll go get it, and that's when the banshee grabs me.
So I'm thinking, no worries they've got this, plenty of missiles between them, let me just run to the toilet keep.
Get back literally 3 mins later to the loading screen! Didn't even get to see how they wiped?

Okay then guys, how about this?

We'll try a few games of Gold next time we see each other.  I don't have much in the way of decent consumables or gear in stock, but I'll use what I have in order for it to be a fair test.

If I make it through with some semblance of dignity and find that the experience wasn't totally terrible, I'll concede that you were right and consider myself promoted :-)

However, if I make a total dog's breakfast of everything and am clearly out of my depth, you all concede to slum it in Silver with me for a little while longer.

Deal? :-)

Silver to Gold is not too much of a difference... well it is, but not as excessive as Gold to Platinum, to be sure.

I've never played (or maybe I have, but forgot? If I do, sorry,. lol, I am *terrible* with names) with Gruntkitterhand but if you are accompanied by players like Mordokai or marksmad you should be fine, especially if you are already comfortable/proficient with Silvers.

....Soooo, jump into it already! (and invite me too whenever possible, I'll try my best to help you out as well)

Clown.

We had one and was he a gem. I normally give low level characters the benefit of the doubt if they are properly equipped. Unfortunately this player wasn't and made up for their lack of armaments with leet barrel rolls, forward tumbling, and trying to punch primes out.

Hydra Death Zone? Dove in head first like a boss. Lasted about three seconds, but they were three spectacular seconds. All in all it was good for a laugh to see such gusto.

GOOOOOLD!!!

Got several invites on Wii U and apparently, they all lead to the same gold lobby with a suicidal host.  Very tough games but we all made it out and I got some serious credits as a result.  Unfortunately, all my premium spectre packs yielded level 4 ammo and no actual UR unlocks!  Trolled AGAIN!

Subpar.

Turian Soldier with Marksman and Concussive Shot, and the Eagle with AP Ammo.

Unfortunately the map was Rio (Reapers) and the long sight lines didn't play to this character's strengths. I did get plenty of headshots (Turian passives + Marksman + Eagle = profit!) and Concussive Shot is actually pretty strong against Banshee barriers. But overall I didn't mow down as many enemies as I thought I would.

I also failed to extract when I waited that extra second to finish off a Brute on the bridge, instead of sprinting past him. Oops....

Kroganesque

First platinum runs in more than a year (I'm back in ME multiplayer after a long break), and I don't remember why I left...

after some warm up with TGI and flamerless GTS, I took my Kroguard with Graal X and juggernaut shield...

So. Much. Cheese.

Top scored thrice topping 200k.

Cerberus  Platinum London was easy as a gold run. My pimp head is still strong

Hmmm, you're the third person to tell me that the leap from Silver to Gold is smaller than one might expect.

I don't know that I'm necessarily "comfortable/proficient" at Silver, though I can pug it with a fair degree of confidence now, even Collectors (though that depends on the map and my frame of mind).  In a team of players at around the same level as me, I can make an equal contribution to the game; but in a team with less-experienced players who need more help, I still struggle to keep on top of things at times.  I can make a decent attempt at helping to carry such a game (see the "war story" I posted yesterday), but it's hard work and I can't guarantee success.

And I still make newbie mistakes: getting pinned by bosses, forgetting to look behind me for Dragoons and Pyros, rage-gelling in early waves rather than saving it for when it's truly needed.  Such mistakes don't happen every game, but they do happen more often than they should.  I still need bailing out of trouble from time to time.

(The BSNers who have played alongside me are all rolling their eyes at this point!  I'm much more critical of my play than they are.  But hey, I'm a perfectionist.  I can't help but see the mistakes and room for improvement).

I'll make fewer mistakes and play more confidently as I work at putting the lessons that Silver has taught me into practice.  But marksmad and the others are right, there are no new lessons to learn at this level.

And heck, it's only a game!  I should remember that and put my hesitation to one side.  There's nothing to lose from having a go.  As long as the squad is having fun, we're doing it right :-)

Given that I'm not especially talented at playing action games (I got into Mass Effect more for the story and character interactions), I'm amazed I've made it this far.  I suppose it's a skill that can be learned like any other.

Due to timezone differences, you and I might never be on at the same time.  But hey, if our paths do happen to cross and you don't mind carrying a Gold neophyte...
