Yeah I definitely fare better with the Valiant or the BW than the Javelin/Widow (less shots=less margin for error) but I probably enjoy the latter guns more (which is sort of the bottom line when it comes to a game).  :(

There's something appealing about the finesse required for the single-shot SRs, and something so unutterably satisfying about using one to relieve a Phantom of her head.  But in order to make the most of them, I _really_ need to L2snipe.

For some reason I missed this.....

A pleasure dude! :) You did just fine with Gold, and although we got the WFOP screen, I did check the score on wave 11 and you did a good job.

You're ready for more adventures in Gold, especially if you're playing with the fine folks of BSN :)

I was honored to accompany you during your 1st foray of Gold :)

Just to clarify: it wasn't my first Gold, it was my third or fourth attempt.  But it was my first Gold playing as my favourite QFI, so was a very significant game for that reason :-)

Very much enjoyed the game, glad you did too.  Hope to play again sometime!

dagger againsT geth using paladin with paladin pistol (I hate this setup but paladin should carry a paladin). Endded up relying on the pistol more tHan the cheese. I had to leave mid game, I believe wave six or seven, cuz i had an important visitor. Decided to not leave the game and hand it over to my son, he requested, to finish the game (committed). He seemed to have done well even thu he couldn't make the extraction.

Mediocre,

White/Reapers/Platinum,

I'm going with the Tsol BPP - finding myself wishing I took the Hurricane instead (really no point at all in taking the BPP as the Hurricane is miles ahead, especially on the Tsol).

Dead on extraction wave, a Tsol with a Carrier gets lone survivor. Next time I'm bringing the Hurrican instead!

If you like single-shot SRs, you can't pick a much better class than the QFI (other than the SI, that is).  Sabotage helps minimize misses, which is what you really need with a single shot SR.  QFI-Widow with Phasics is my favorite setup for her.

17:51 U/U/G => Collectors/Jade

Granted it helped that I was a Kroldier - Dem Inferno 'nades! Even so, any sub-20 game is pretty good in my book, a sub-18, vs Collectors, on Jade with a PuG ... that's not bad going at all. Mind, we didn't get a 1,2,3,4 mission though thankfully - they can go hellishly wrong on Jade, especially vs Collectors.

Yeah, my favourite character is the perfect kit for this style of play.  I know the theory, it's just a matter of putting it into practice.  As I mentioned upthread, I had some silly fun yesterday with the QFI/Widow in a Silver game.  I only have the Widow at level 2 though, so there's not much advantage to it yet; may as well just put an extended barrel on a Mantis.

I spent most of this evening in the Armax arena, set on Insanity difficulty to best approximate multiplayer, practising with the Mantis and Widow.  My Shepard is a sentinel so can use Overload to stun and then follow up with a shot.  I tried to take the shots as quickly as possible in order to simulate the very short time I'd have in multiplayer before my QFI's cloak breaks.  At the moment, I'm not always quick enough to line up a headshot in that time.  Can usually get body shots though.

Obviously Jade's a premo missile speedrun map, but I also love how efficient it can be for grenade kits- with the way spawns work and get clustered together on that map you can just murder spawns with Arcs/Infernoe's/etc.

Meh.

This one pug had a high CP and 13K N7 rating, I was doing better than he was in terms of points at until he started rocket nuking to keep his dominancy. Didn't matter to me, it's the effect of being a low N7 and the fact that I was ahead of him using Volus adept with an arc pistol and the pug was a N7 Paladin. Was not impressed either way that he didn't at least outscore me through his kit's build.

Has nice ammo boxes too that give you plenty of 'nades.

I run my Kroldier with a Striker (it's the Krogan AR after all) and Incendiary ammo - you've got stagger, you got burny power from 'nades and ammo and Carnage to make everything explode in pleasant little fireballs (just remember not to shoot things you've hit with the Inferno Grenades until *after* you've detonated with Carnage). You can practically stunlock all Collector units bar Scions and Praetorians in a big ol' burning mob and then detonate the lot!

The Widow at 2 still has higher damage than the Mantis at 10 (around 1000 base damage vs 900). The natural .75m piercing while maintaining full damage is another advantage, since it stacks with piercing mods and can grant you most double hits with only a single mod (mantis needs both mods for several of them) as well as a much greater chance of multikills when you line up targets ( most other weapons suffer damage reduction on all targets after the first). Because Mel's an infiltrator, the extra weight really doesn't matter as much, either.

Since you are uncomfortable with headshots as of yet, just always save your phasic 3's for your sniper builds. On the Widow 2, with a proper amp, I think the only gold mook units that are capable of surviving body shots from a QFI with passives and a damage/sniper cloak are possesed troopers and captains. Povided that you sabotage, the backfire will normally finish them off anyway.

As for sabotage, you could try sabotaging before you scope to freeze the target. Since scoping in triggers the auto snap aim provided that your aim is close enough, and the target will already be standing still, you then only have to make minor adjustments if any at all. If you aren't accustomed to traditional quickscoping, this makes it much easier to learn because you needn't account for a moving target and some of the aiming is done for you.

AnnoyingTurnedSatisfying

See!!! 1 word

Pugged a few matches this past weekend. One was with a TGI / Striker (trying the make the damage reasonable I equipped Warp IV ammo and a AR amp III). Landed on Ghost Hazard / Geth.

At first, I was quite surprised at how innacurate the Striker is (next time I use it I will also use a stability mod). Took a few waves to get used to, then it started to get enjoyable once I got a feel for it and was stunlocking Geth hunters all over the place.

Take that Geth scum!!

A duo with PowerDandy who was a Turian Soldier with an Eagle. 22 minutes with devices is not so bad with a PUG.

But playing without sound against Rippaz is unadvisable.

Charge!!!!!

My Smashguard landed in a gold lobby consisting of a Kroguard, Cabal, and Shadow.  Of course, we got Collectors...  It's not often you see that many people all within melee range of a possessed Praetorian!  All in all, it was a very fun match.  The Cabal got me with a pair of PAs and was immediately there to revive me.  Not sure if it was intentional or not, but well done either way!  I also nuked myself once when a PA I didn't see coming ran past me halfway through my smash animation. :pinched:

Wuuuut?

Wave 10... we get devices. I proceed to cap the first device. Now we have 2 devices capped. Awoo?

Well, I've been drinking, so maybe I missed one that went by super fast. I cap the next 2 devices. We get "mission accomplished" or whathaveyou.

Then I proceed to kill 6 Banshees in a row. We have definitely not managed "mission accomplished." One of our devices never got capped.

I spend the next 3 minutes running around hoping to find a device that isn't marked on the map. By the time the team has killed 8 or 9 Banshees, there is a Brute hanging around outside the map. Dude got bored, so I don't blame him.

At some point, the game decided to have mercy on us, so Banshees stopped spawning (there was no device capped in the meantime, so it was a... "3 device objective" I guess.) Our last enemy was naturally the Brute outside the map. We killed him. We managed full extraction (I think.)

That was a weird video.

Continuing the weirdness, my teammates (except for one) dropped during the start, and Geth/Rio turned into a duo.

Except that there was clearly an invisible third party member who would turn up in the feed from time to time (and even reached 25 kills ahead of me and my visible partner.)

I had to clutch a couple of waves, and my invisible partner had to clutch one, too, making for some really weird interactions.

Edit: And somehow they revived me twice during extraction! :o

Reactor.

So a Pug blew the reactor while we were doing the escort through it. Fine by me. I'm playing the rest of the match by killing myself in the reactor at the start of every wave. Fun!

What do you know? After 5 rounds of me just killing myself in the reactor, somebody revived me. So I decided to help them finish the rest of the match.

Just a useful tip (not like a cato useful tip, but useful nonetheless)- for most kit's walking speed with the pizza, if you push the button right after they enter the Reactor, the doors should close just before they make it to the door on the other side, making them think they might... just... make it... aaaaaalmost there- until they don't.

I also believe this tip adequately sums up my last pug.

I feel that should be in the "Useful Tips" thread :D

OT: Shocking.

I landed on wave 3 of a GiP (White Rippahz Gold). It was hard fought but we extracted. At the end, I had scored more than the other 3 combined. I think that means I was carrying....  :o

Struggle...but invigorating....

Geth/Dagger/Gold....This was one of my finer moments. A salarian engineer, a lowly human soldier (N7 level like 8 or 9) and a krogan Sent and myself the phoenix vanguard. The salarian and krogan had decent N7 numbers...i think it was like over 600 for the krogan and like over 500 for the salarian and they had mid-high end weapons...think level 7 claymore and black widow? Anyway maybe these guys was just experimenting, but they struggled mightily. I actually played well enough against the geth who i seem to almost always struggle with...multiple rockets, bomber and flamers coming outta nowhere..:pinched:...i just hate geth.

It should be known that when i fight geth they feel the full wraith...meaning disrupter 4 ammo, power amps 4, AR amp 3, Lancer X...so i was really tearing into them,.... that human soldier probably had no business being there at all as he died quite alot, but he never gave up and kept trying as hard as he could, so i revived him whenever i could, but i was kinda shocked at how the other two guys played...a bit shocking looking at their resume. i ended up with like 15 revives in total, and i had like 165 thousand where everybody else had like 80 thousand and that poor soldier had like 25 thousand. still a good game where everybody fought hard and we made it to extraction.

Good deed

Me and 2 other good players helped carry a N7 12 to victory on Hydra/Reapers/Gold.
He/she went down A LOT, but tried hard so it was worth it.
Still amazes me how many new players you come across!

Overkill.

That's what happens when a harrier TGI, incendiary reegar Kroguard, and an incendiary reegar AIU (with an incidental N7 Destroyer) face Reapers on Goddess.  Makes gold feel like bronze.
