WTF?!!!

 

Geth/Giant/Gold.  After the first time a Prime showed up, there damn near literally wasn't a second that I wasn't getting shot at by one.  Didn't matter how many walls were in the way.  If I stopped moving for even a second, I was dead.   Which kinda neuters the smashdept.  After using my entire supply of gel and ops packs by early wave 5, I quit.

 

Followed by Geth/Hydra/Gold, where I ran into OmegaRed, and the exact same thing happened again.  Juggernaut has been meleeing the Prime for the last 10 seconds?  Who cares, snipe the Hunter from all the way across the map between assorted crates, walls, and other cover.  After 7 deaths in three waves, I left again.  Time to play some other game for the afternoon...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......... it's been such a long while since I rage-gelled on being downed in the 1st wave..........

 

AND rage-quitted as well.

From fun to frustrating.

 

Dropped into a U/U/G lobby with 2 vanilla human engineers, I was the QFE. Got Glacier against Reapers and aside from a few hiccups it was a fun game, fire explosions and tech bursts everywhere. When we got back to the lobby the pugs both switched to Quarian kits, I thought it might be my first all Quarian game but an Asari joined. So we get Rio/Geth, ugh. I started lagging part way through wave 1, the kind that has me and the enemies bouncing from side to side but it only got worse as the game progressed, to the point where I couldn't tell where on the map I actually was 'cause I kept teleporting. Between that and Geth bulls**t cheating tactics of shooting me no matter how much cover was between us, it made for a rather unpleasant game. I was close to rage-quitting a few times but I'm a masochist, so I stuck around only to get disconnected wave 10.

I have seen guardians on wave 8 of cerberus gold. And it wasn't a modded game... At least, everything else seemed very reasonable. Oh well.

Assumptive.

 

I landed in a gold lobby, leader changed it to platinum. 

 

I was mad, so I stayed. 

 

Took 30 min but we made it, then I immediately took my leave.

Freeloader.

 

Joined a U/U/G lobby, everyone except the host had gear on and was ready to go, the host readied up too, so clearly not afk. Get Geth on Rio again and the host didn't move, at all, throughout the entire game. Wasted time trying to revive him/her at first then gave up. This is my first encounter with a leecher. Perhaps they weren't leeching and something went wrong on their end but still, it was annoying.

Wipe, I ran out of med gels on wave 9 of a really laggy Geth/Glacier game. I was using a Valkryie and my warp balls kept going thru the bodies of the hunters / rocket troopers / pyros. And once I wasn't there to kill the bad guys the game went downhill fast.

 

First wipe in awhile, all in all a not great display of skill on my part, lag or no.

Played gold zombie mod. Found some good players (Veraka1 was one of them. zombierun1 I think was the other). We were just slaughterhousing gold so we bumped it to plat. Was  a meatgrinder and we just murdered everything. Was still fairly easy.

 

The new avenger I made is pretty good =)

Gruelling.

 

Had time for one quick game. Quick, ha! I landed my SE in a lobby with a good QFE and an excellent Vorcha Soldier, and a n00b Jugg. We got Giant Collectors. The Jugg died every wave until he quit on wave 4. The remaining trio had to grind through the Scion spam for ages. At least we got targets on wave 10. Full extraction in 32 minutes, ouch.

Forgot to mention on one of the platinum rounds we had a devices objective wave 10. It went to **** really quick and on the last one we had lost a player to banshee hands and then we I went down (not died) with a frame to go on banshee hands. Guy died by me. Surrounded by probably 6 or 7 turrets. Got up... Blew literally all my load in a single sitting and killed like 7 turrets. We made it. But first time I've ever blown my load like that.

It's always fun to play an all-biotic squad.  My AV joined a HSent, AA, and another AV for Jade/Reapers/Gold.  Lots of fun - even though I ended up doing 9 of the 12 devices.  That last device was the worst.  The one pretty much right smack center of the map in the very bottom area.  Fortunately, I managed to round up two banshees and two brutes and lead them on a merry chase around the map while the other two covered the guy on the device.

You know that disgusted noise Cassandra makes continually in Inquisition?

That sums up my last five or so pugs.  I am not a good player. I'm an average player with an understanding of the mechanics and a lot of spare time and decent weapons/equipment.  When I play with most BSNers, I can keep up, but I'll rarely top the leaderboard or have a ton more points than anyone else.

 

So there is no way I should be in matches where I am, on average, scoring triple the amount of points of the next player.  Not unless I'm using some god tier class the way it was intended, which I wasn't (Asari Adept and the QFE).   Every single match was a struggle to get to the extraction round and, usually, a struggle against lag as well.  I had one game where the pugs started missiling spawns on wave 1...which of course meant they didn't have enough for wave 10, which was naturally devices.

 

And all throughout I was making that "urgh" noise.  Seriously, I want to have fun, I shouldn't be trying this hard.

I was testing some build with the N7 characters (fury, and so on), and I decided to give the N7 shadow a spin, just because I rarely use her.

Holy Cheesus! I was wrong, so very wrong in considering it a bad kit! With just an Exectutioner X and no other weapon in Gold, she is perfect!

200% cd, melee gears and she is truly a bliss vs Phantoms and Banshees! No Electric Slash, that is for wussies, just heavy melee, like a krentinel with teleport.

Geth stunlock and cloackhack.exe are still her kryptonite, but damn... so very good.

Do you read smutty literature between waves? Anyway I understand completely: sometimes your team want you to ragequit...  so you extract alone!

1. Lag issues.

2. If the enemy is on an inclination it won't work (this suck big time)

3. Doesn't work on Atlas (bleh)

4. Most enemies travel in group, making jumping into one amongst them incredibly dangerous...

5. Not to mention those accidental Shadow Striking abominations....

6. Pretty much useless during objectives like hack and possibly escort as well.

 

I like her too though, a cool concept. I still haven't quite figured out how to effectively use her in Gold and *especially* Platinum.

I like her too though, a cool concept. I still haven't quite figured out how to effectively use her in Gold and *especially* Platinum.

 

With my limited experience on Gold with her, my humble suggestions are:

 

- Use evolution 6a (bonus power) to strike once on bosses and find cover before the end of cloak. OR use a 2nd shadow strike to target a lone and distant enemy. Spamming Shadow strike is dangerous and in the end, deadly. For you.

- In case of a lone boss,  tap shadow strike to engage and then use heavy melee only: shadow's light melee is slow and disappointing, damage wise. Heavy melee can also behead (very good vs abominations) multiple targets and you can evolve it with armor piercing damage (who wants some brute's sushi?).

- Do NOT target a mobs that has line of sight on you or "knows" (mileage may vary) of you: cloak and strike always from the shadow. The reason for this is that while shadow strike is functionally a teleport, you are NOT immune to damage while in transit. So it is utterly possible (Geth prime, Marauders and Ravager's Puke :sick: ) to  be downed during a teleport by crossfire, or by melee used on the LZ. Or 'nades, if you're very unlucky...

- Dodge like hell. Always. Shadow is a glass cannon. Make dat booty jump and cartwheel.

- Use weapons with high stopping power/high damage but keep cd as low as possible. For a while I used a wraith X, than a lancer (with melee extension) + acolyte, now I strongly suggest the executioner with high caliber and melee extension. Reason is, shadow strike lose its status of OHK already in gold: you need a big hand cannon to compensate on every range (I suppose Carnifex/Paladin/Talon is good too, but you can kill a ravager with 2/3 shots of executioner on gold...). Mastering reload cancel with Executioner is tricky, but so very worth it:

Shadow Strike -> Executioner -> Begin reload -> Cancel with a second Shadow Strike ->Executioner -> Cover to reload cancel -> repeat ad libitum.

Without electric slash, gold is utterly viable... don't think so Platinum... and frankly speaking, I would avoid it with PUG. :?

Didn't read much of the last posts, but this struck me, as it is wrong: SS benefits both from power bonuses and melee bonuses.

Thank you for the correction: the Wiki mentioned bonus damage from melee gears, but it didn't talk about bonus from power damage gear. My personal tests were inconclusive too, so I assumed wrong. Nice to know. :blush:

That's what ES is for, and why you never spec out of it. Vanguards often have the same issue, of no ranged in-place attack.

Ark171 totally rocks the Shadow on Platinum. It does, admittedly, help that he's totally batshit crazy because that's the only way to play her :D
