Cooldowns

As in, non existent.  A Human Adept with an Ultralite Acolyte, Structural Ergonomics, and a Power Efficiency Module.  Talk about overdoing one thing at the expense of everything else!

Suspicious

Dropped my SI into a GiP on Glacier/Geth/Gold on Wave 2.  Must have been a full Bioware team cause they all went down every 5 seconds the entire time and when i was carrying Wave 10 and i asked them why they play Gold they checked the scoreboard to find out I had a 200k lead over the 2nd place guy and they RageCrashedTheServers for an hour and a half

"This looks like a good spot."

There were TWO demogirls in the game. On Hydra vs Geth. The demogirls, of course, camped with their pylons - as expected. But why on the ammo crate next to the LZ?

It was an easy game for me and the Jugg, who both roamed the map freely, while the demogirls both got gold revive medals off each other.

It has decent to excellent view of 3 possible spawn positions and is completely safe. Unless the other half of the team forces spawns behind by roaming freely.

This is why we can't have nice things...

Talkative

incredibly, I had back-to-back pugs where one or more persons were on the mic. The first time, I took some newbies into silver, and they did pretty well, all things considered (pretty sure the N7 16 saw silver for the first time). Nice to be thanked for the revives anyway. Second set, at least two very good players talking. The guy who took the Asari Vanguard off-host spewed his fair amount of obscenities in french, wonder what was causing that ;) ; and I got to hear how the AV sounds in the french version too

Yeah,...no.

The Jugg doesn't have the option of standing there with them, since he can't be in cover, and when I'm playing the HE I'm going to be out there where I can be doing damage. And they could see in the lobby what our kits were.

And if a pair of demogirls absolutely gotta camp, there are at least 2 locations on that map that are less exposed, and work better with a free-roaming team.

The LZ on Hydra is everything but safe. You can see exactly one spawn point from there, all the others are hidden from view and you have to wait for the enemy to move first. Sure, it's just a few steps in most cases but still...

In return you are vulnerable to sniper fire from all but one direction and the enemy has two opportunities to sneak up on you.

If you really want to camp on Hydra, then do it in the control room. It has walls and only two entry points. Still less effective than being mobile.

Glitchers

Couldn't get away from them last night.  One game had a missile glitching Destroyer, the very next game I land in is a game in progress and another missile glitcher is doing that damn thing.

So I thought I'd try one more game and landed in a Plat lobby with a Demolisher with the Javelin and an Edi-bot with a Widow. Their gear and N7/CP points weren't that great or encouraging, but I just wanted a normal game.

I didn't think anything about it when he/she preset the match to Hydra until I realise the both of them are doing the Hydra glitch. By wave four I rage quit. I wasn't going to waste any more gear running around  while they're up there glitching.

You know how sometimes a squadmate will bump you so you stick to cover when you don't want to? Well, if you can get up there with them, sometimes you can succeed in nudging them just right so they fall down the back of the wall into that little well-shaped area. They don't die, but they can't get out either.

That's a word, right?

I dropped into wave 1 of Collectors/Glacer/Gold.  I had a silver revive medal by the end of wave 1.  Enough said.  Yet somehow we made extraction.  Lone Survivor (me), but still!

Sigh

Took my might lvl 14 Destroyer out on gold to complete the Indra challenge, wiped on wave 7... sigh

Lobby stays together, two are pretty new. I don't mind leaning a helping hand to new players, so I re-equip with PPR (OP as that may be), land on Ghost/Cerberus siigh

Guys? I am not staying out of the mosh pit because I am coward, I do it because it is a very bad place to be in once engineers and phantoms show up... siiigh

Guys? Guys? you do understand things get harder with each successive wave, right? Why are you still trying to hold the mosh pit? siiiigh

Extraction, hey, were are you guys going? Didn't you see how hard it was to hold the hack for 1 minute last wave, and that was inside one of the buildings? Do you really think you can hold the EZ for 2 minutes? siiiiigh

I think I will collect my Lone Survivor medal on my way to the shuttle, thank you very much ;)

Joking aside, it felt good to get to wave 11, so thanks!

Surprising.

Had a Collectors encounter that wasn't a total headache-inducing clusterf*ck. I blame the PuGs.

Actually, I have noticed that Gold Collectors seem to go more smoothly on Reactor. I get the impression that Reactor's multiple layers of cover go a long way to forcing Collectors to fight fair-ish.

Double/Double

Double kill Marauders, then double UR's first pack. Then another single UR, then another. Only 6 to go to maxed.

Had a good game with Salarian Infiltrator and Widow w/Phasics.

What I think, is that you're all a bit right, and a bit wrong.  The best way to do Hydra is to pivot on the LZ.  Place a camper at the LZ (in Marksmad's original situation, only one of the Demos) and the other at the left crate facing the long hall on left as facing the dam.  The other two, in this case the Juggy and Marksmad should be the strikers who push forward from the blue room during the wave and eliminate the enemy that is forced into the lower spawn points.  They need the discipline, however, to not go too far forward such that they put the lower spawn points under direct LOS while the two upper spawn points on the left are unwatched.  The middle person, should watch the left side and float to the overwatch points by the left center ramp only if/when the strikers are not too far forward, or start to get pushed back by superior numbers in later waves.  That way, the middle player can support both the pivot, in case of enemy flanking the LZ from the pillbox, or the strikers, if they start drawing too much fire.

The problem is that most people are too busy myopically camping or yolo scorewhoring to choose the support role that focuses on suppressing bad spawning.  Then they get all butthurt when the "other guy" - the camper, or the overextended scorewhore - brings the team down by not focusing on what's best for the team.  That's why (for any map, really) unless I'm playing my vanguards, I usually bite the bullet, suppress my ego, and play support/overwatch so that I can be the one who's shooting the enemies that are coming up behind you when you are focused elsewhere.  Of course, when I'm playing my vanguards, I'm that scorewhore who is always out in the thick of things, screwing everybody elses games and getting shot at from every direction.  But hey, that's why we have 6 medigels, ops packs and cobras.  Right?

Frustration.

I have time for one game before work this morning. I jump into a lobby with a guy who's obviously Finnish. Now, I've been around long enough to know that Finns are a nation of fire-breathing badasses when it comes to ME3, and this guy was clearly no exception. There were exponents in his challenge point score, dig? Beyond that, he's set up with an AIU carrying a Harrier and an Acolyte. The guy's obviously ready to solo if necessary

So, I have my melee Kroguard on the line and pretty in pink. I'm a little concerned, since the ten time zones often equate to some fairly significant lag, but the Krogan vanguard doesn't have to be quite as crisp in response as, say, the Novaguard. I slap a cyclonic on him, just in case he needs a little help while getting his charge dialed in, and I figure we're okay, as long as we don't get a crazy setup like...

Condor/Collectors.

It went about like you might expect.  Scions wouldn't have been so bad, if the Helsinki Effect wasn't extending my 5 second cooldown to 9 seconds.  (And my very favorite design feature--Seeker Swarms--kinda screw a vanguard reliant on constant charging as well.) The next time you see a Praetorian, though, look closely at the heads behind the front chestplate.  There should be about five Krogan heads in there now.  Fortunately, a third player showed up, and the Finnish guy mopped up in a businesslike fashion.  I at least got some time to apologize to him after one of the crab sync kills.

I usually don't take the game seriously enough to swear like that.

HoldTheLine!

I gave a Saber TSent a try, and ended up in Geth/Giant/Gold, along with a QMI and SI (both using Widows), and a Saber Justicar.  We basically just stuck together as a group, picked whatever area we happened to be standing in when the wave began, the Justicar dropped a bubble on us, and we sniped everything down before they could get close.  It wasn't until wave 8 or 9 that bombers/pyros/hunters even had a chance to get close enough to fight back.  The only time any of us moved more than 50 feet from our starting position during a wave was for objective waves.  I never camp out, so it was actually a very fun change from the usual "lets all run around like chickens with our heads cut off" playstyle.

Embarrassment

The GI with a Valiant host came in dead last.  He changed to a vanilla human Adept for the next game, I was thinking "yeah good don't embarass yourself again", but then I saw he had a PPR (with Stability Mod) and a Carnifex

He had like 50k CP too

quit

because no friend was online or available i  had to travel to pug-land:

first game: GIP, you know instantly it's a preset game (headshotted phantom doesn't score 1971 points), decided to stay bcause it was wave 9. All people constantly dying and/or bleeding out. Why are you presetting map/enemy if you can't handle it anyway? I/we made it through the match, though. Back in the lobby the host doesn't change map or enemy. Quit.

second game: Preset lobby, cerberus again. Quit

third game: GIP, i can hear at least two Hammerlords while in the loading screen. Quit instantly.

fourth game: Decent lokking lobby, but it became reactor, couldn't take cover, "No ladders for you today, Don!", lag was unbearable. Quit. This was my ME3MP multiplayer game No. 10,000, what a shame  .

chatty

Finally i landed in a lobby with two decent looking guys (one had 30k+ N7-points) who turned out to be two chatty italians. I didn't understand much but i finally had a couple of smooth games with them, so the trip to pug-land had a happy ending. Thank you, guys, whoever you are.

Haha....some pugs will try to hold the line. I learned my lesson the hard way....:pinched: . Holding the line at extraction can be fun with the right group and map. I would never try to hold the line on ghost tho. Enemies have a better vantage point and angle, hitting you from elevated positions and cover. I will try to hold the line on Giant, but again, only with the right group. I have seen plenty of pugs run to their death at extraction....especially on Reactor. Pugs will run straight to the EZ while i'm running in the exact OPPOSITE direction....

That revive chain ends quickly either by them using up their medi-gels or them getting synced by an enemy. I feel bad seeing all of those little pink/white skulls, but i refuse to join them in their suicide rub...*takes teammates nametags and picks up lone survivor on the way out*.....

I agree it is always funny when all pugs beeline for the EZ, while you chill on the opposite end of the map, to the sound of "squadmate down" gel, gel, missile, "teammate needs help" gel, gel, stomp... especially in matches where you have actually shown that you know what you are doing  B)  and I like to imagine that, among all the carnage, they are raging at you for trolling them by not helping ;)

And yes, ghost's EZ is brutal, same as with Hydra and Rio. There are other EZs you can hold with the right team, but those ones? I have actually seen competent teams holding the line in Reactor, but I fail to see the point in doing so.

If it was the same Finnish guy I played the other day, he was a classic tryhard, so I proceeded to tryhard myself and wipe the floor with him. I do actually try once in a full moon and it's always nice to score well over two hundred thousand in a gold game...
