Because of limited setting availability on the router, this is the only thing I can do. Besides, if you want to hack my PS3. Go right ahead, if you're that sad/desperate.
Cough.
Arkhne. If ports are not opened you will have the same problem on any platform. PC Care Bear race, XBox Race, Human Race. Your complaint of low connections to other PS3 members is directly related. It's likely that you connect only with a small subset of the PS3 community that have similiar limitations. Think about why you are never seeing any AHF player in your PUG lobbies... and we do pug a lot.
As SweatoftheHamster (CS) tried to explain nicely, specific ports really needs to be opened.
A writeup :
here explains that EA use only subsets of the ports that are supported by the platforms themselves. So from the list of official PS3 UDP ports, only subsets are used by EA, and those subsets are different for different titles (in both directions of communication). For me3 :
- UDP PS3 3478-3479, 3658-3659, 5223, 5659, 6000
- TCP PS3 5223, 9946, 42100, 13000-13100
- UDP PC 5659, 6000
- TCP PC 80
UDP is a low overhead protocol at the expense of error recovery. So basically it's beneficial for those people with low bandwidth (and fast=speed pings), but really bad (worse than TCP) for people that suffer with congestion (UDP gives speed at the expense of quality)(congestion = when Spaceman Spiff watch video on the same Wifi that Terminator Force is using). TCP is a bit better with handling congestion but is ca 12-15% slower.
So for hosts with
- High Bandwidth (>10Mb) and Low delays (<30ms to 23.78.107.205)= UDP is ideal
- High Bandwidth and High Delay (>50ms roundtrip)= TCP is ideal
- Low BW and Low Delay = UDP
- Low BW and High Delay = TCP (most frustrating lobbies for other players)
Hence People with high delay should avoid hosting at all, because the bulk of the payload are to 3 other players concurrently.
With regards to security : They already stole your credit card details in 2011, plus psn, email, address etc. On a PS3 there are not as much juicy info as on a PC. Nowadays they simply do DDoS out of frustration (remember the Finnish guy, Julius, from Lizard Squad that brought both XBox and PSN down on 26.12.2014? Luckily Kim Dotcom could bribe him to stop his rage by giving him money.
Arktinen please help us to relay this message with finesse, if all else fails simply use the Hadaka Jime (RNC) grip, and whisper in his ear, but please don't hold longer than 7s -even on guys with big hands - since it targets the common carotid.
Some cheap routers for $25 can replace ie that TeliaSonera stock router(better). That gift will give you the lowest frustration over christmas time
