In my last PuG, I was able to resolve the answer to two things that I had been wondering about for a long time.
The Paladin is, in some ways, my favourite kit, but I've never been able to put my finger on why.
I also have a pattern of playing the game for the first time in months, taking the Paladin into Gold, and then faceplanting a lot.
And the reason for both is: complexity of a kit and build that does everything.
My Paladin specs out of passives. I have full melee set for incendiary, and all three powers set for maximum 6x6 combos. Standard ED built for radius. I combine this with a Pistol Amp and the Arc Pistol.
The result is a build that relies heavily on weapon kills and weapon accuracy, and can achieve those (despite a lack of passives.) It also functions with combos, maximizing the additional impact of powers, while using their utility for stagger and cheese. I always forget just how absurdly effective the heavy melee omnishield is. And it is my favourite of all things, a melee build. It does everything. But it also requires precision to make all those things it does work, and being rusty after several months and picking one my most complicated builds to use is probably not wise (but I do it anyway.)
