Those puggernauts think that they can take on the whole wave by themselves with their 40% DR siege pulse (that remains stacked on their shoulder forever). They get bumrushed by two three brutes/banshees or goons/fantums squad while ravagers or cerberus turrets focus fire on them. That situation can be avoided entirely if one or two other teammates just stay a safe distance away from puggernauts and destroy those easy targets and try to avoid the ones that are target of puggernaut's melee attacks. After all when puggernauts aka crap magnet goes down that whole lot of #$%^ is going to come after other players. Even if one high dps player "looks after" a puggernaut plat games can go quite smoothly and without much effort/consumables.

My charge stays on my juggy's shoulder the whole game, but i consider my Jugger a high dps character in it self, meleeing only Phantoms and dragoons to stagger.

Supporting Puggernauts like you outlined should not happen because that means that you encourage a play style that drags out gametime id rather wipe then and restart with my own Jugger to show the difference.

This. (I'm out of likes, sadly).

I'd rather a corpse than most Puggernauts, atleast then I have better control over the enemies, and other team-mates wont get themselves in bad positions, or use consumables, trying to save a lost cause.

^ and earliers: Ok, I don't agree with a babysitting plan - nobody should need a babysitter on Platinum. How I read it though, and what I agreed with up there, is that as we all know Juggs can be a bit slow for plat, and that they're usually aggro magnets for that exact reason, right?  Sometimes it is easy to just get in a swamped situation when you can't escape by running away, just get staggered. Sure, being better situated might avoid that problem but I'm just saying that sometimes you don't have much say in it, like during missions. Also, sh*t happens and you get swamped all of a sudden on your previously relaxing stroll.

I often don't play the Juggs on Platinum for that slow-aggromagnet reason, but rather take more mobile kits instead.

I don't like the puggernauts who camp (I generally don't like camping in game anyway), and you get less easily swarmed by enemies if you stay mobile.

However, I would prefer that teammates not kill the big units that I'm actually heavymeleeing right that moment as a Jugger - I personally only use that electrostrangulation to grab Phantoms to get rid of them, to hold the Banshees' hand and get their attention towards me, or restore shields, if needed. I'd rather the teammates kill the turrets or the ravagers that are further away, but are still targeting me (big juicy target, already busy with other big things), or the group of anything else, and not the banshees right on my skin at that moment IF in a situation of trying to get shields up.  (With pugs all that happens often, too).

Last pug game: pleasant surprise.  Team playing well together, doing missions, working nicely together. More unicorns.

Hurt

of the backside kind.

First, I accidentally killed a possessed abomination during a hack - and I do mean accidentally, as in abomb down to 1 bar of health, and I just reflexively threw a warp at it. Since I was a Valkyrie, I did survive the blast, so I immediately revived the two pugs caught in the explosion, went to cover, and texted my apology for the accident... only for one of the pugs to quit the match. Sorry about it... but what were you doing, dancing with an almost-dead abomination in the middle of the hack circle? That's one of the instances in which leaving is actually encouraged...

Then on a later match, someone got synced by a banshee on the tail end of wave 8, and promptly left. It was a trio to begin with, with a couple of pugs getting frozen on the LZ in the early waves, so now we had to end the match as a duo, on Goddess <_< I mean, I got grabbed once too ffs, this stuff happens. Icing on the cake, we got devices on wave 10, thanks game! Full extraction felt really good :)

Last pug game: pleasant surprise.  Team playing well together, doing missions, working nicely together. More unicorns.

Puggernauts can be played to fill certain role. They make good choice for completing certain objectives e.g picking up a pizza from an area that has lots of enemies nearby which can down other kits in less than a second or disabling an objective in a similar area. Because of their slow mobility they can often get swarmed by more than two boss level units and when that happens they can't melee their way out of that. Short of a cobra missile there isn't anything that can kill two boss units and other mooks nearby at once. Wave and as a result game will complete quickly team supports each other and see if a teammate or two are getting overwhelmed kill some of the units near it. If I am playing as an infiltrator or any other high DPS kit and there is a teammate playing pug instead of going to other corner of the map and taking out trash/mooks level units I will take out bosses and/or ravagers/scions etc. Taking out a stationary banshee/phantom near a puggernaut is much easier and faster than letter the puggernaut die and then solo the remaining wave.

^It's not my job to babysit dumb PUGs. If they are dumb, and die because of it, it's their own fault.

Big difference between babysitting and depleting wave budget quickly by taking some of the dangerous enemies like banshees, praetorians that are focusing on a puggernaut instead of coming after other players not immune to sync kills.

Sometimes if you are using lvl IV equipment and consumables that aren't in a high stock in your inventory you are kind of stuck in that game to try and recoup some of the credits from that game's objectives. In that case supporting a puggernaut by killing enemies that have their aggro focused towards it will make the game finish faster than letting the puggernaut die and then taking out remaining wave budget by your self. Whole objective of the game is to take out enemies and completing the game faster.

You know what also makes a game faster? When everybody plays properly.

You know what makes it slower? Snowballing because people are determined to help that one stupid PUG.

Sometimes, you just have to let them die. As simple as that.

When you're slowing the game down by playing incorrectly, and/or being dumb, you can bet I wont be going out of my way to keep you alive. I'll be doing my best to ensure we win.

If you're not making the game harder/slower, you can be damned sure, I will be sprinting for you the moment you need help, and even pre-empt it sometimes. Some people are even worth a missile, PUGs usually aren't (unicorns do exist though).

PUGging is different to a full team game. In a full team game, every member is valuable, though you don't often have to keep them alive. When PUGging, you always have to weigh the usefulness of the person against the risk involved in saving them, not everybody passes this test.

ThrowTwice

I was the Vanilla Asari Adept with Wraith, in a team full of Tech users, vs Geth.  I had over 200k at the end of the game, and Biosplosions like clockwork.  All you have to do, if Throw makes a Tech Combo, is Throw again.  I don't get why that's so hard for biowhiners to grasp.  In fact, with such a short cooldown on Throw, and Throw detonating all types of combos, the more variety of Primers in a match, the better.  1.45 seconds should be plenty of time for your brain to register that a Tech Combo happened, and adjust your offense appropriately.

I think if they put the Arc Grenade explosion on Tech Bursts, and the Tech Burst explosion on Arc Grenades, people would say Arc Grenades suck

Gr8 match! Really! My heavy melee only locked on every so often and even when it did, there was no guarantee of it dealing any damage. Ever seen a husk surviving a Falcon punch? Too bad you weren´t in the match then! Atleast we made full exfil. Me and my masochism.

I know what a power or weapon focused jugger can do to bosses and someone that is just meleeing them instead is just slacking around and should not be playing plat imho. A preatorian + banshee are dead within ~20 seconds if the weapon jugger plays correctly unassisted. (power jugger might take longer because of power immunity of those two)

Im not saying that i am a great jugger player but if i am in a team with it and i score 3rd or 4th, **** got killed fast.

Played a few golg PUGs yesterday, had some fun with Volus Phalanx, Volus Javelin and realized I may or may not (wink wink) have played the Batarian Adept for the first time..... ever (turns out it's a great kit). After a glorious Phalanx match, ran into a Kroga Warlord with a Phalanx, then an Engineer iirc with Phalanx again. We may have started something there.

Great games and a lot of fun, even though the host wasn't very mindful of  correct etiquette and had us play two preset Reapers match to get some challenge points, youths these days...

With the Phalanx Volus, you need to get 5-10 headshots on bronze/silver a,d 1 on Gold/Platinum is good enough. So did you make it ?

Dummy

Everyone was geared up and ready.  I informed the 110k Challenge Point host that he had a Wraith with a Pistol Amp.  I waited, nothing happened.  I told him "Wraith is a Pistol, I hear ya."  Then Cosmic invited me to a Plat game so I typed 'disconnect' on the loading screen after the countdown ended.  I love that trick.

You dare speak back to your superior officer ? It's a harsh world out there... being a Volus with Phalanx used to be good enough back in 2012-2014, not anymore. Nowadays, if you want the "at least I did something right" medal and ye,  there is such a thing, you need to get 5 headshots on silver recruit.

Scumbag

Had some games as a Scumbag sentinel, to put some work in towards the Bloodpack mastery that is next in line after got Resurgence finished. Keeping it interesting by chasing some more challenge points. B)

Varied teams, the 1st game was horrorlag esp. with my KroGuard - so gave up on that after 1 game, and switched to the abovementioned Batariass. Decent pugs though - except those 2 who both bled out during w10 devices, but we got it done with the other one left.

Talon to the face.

See you are confusing supporting with carrying a juggernaut. There is a difference. A juggernaut when it's using a weapon different than Reegar or PPR with incendiary cheese will have trouble against boss level units if two or more gang up on him coz of his low mobility. If the juggernaut is using reegar he can take on boss level units but he will have trouble against long range artillery type units like ravagers, scions, rocket troopers nemesis and cerberus turret. By supporting I mean that the other teammates prioritize targets that the juggernaut is not equipped to handle on its own in that game.

But yeah if somebody is playing the juggernaut as a stupid novaguard that bum rushes in middle of enemies and die at the start of every wave then leave them be. Anyways this whole puggernaut pros, cons and unicorns are kind of derailing the thread so lets try and keep the discussion related to last pugs...

I know what a power or weapon focused jugger can do to bosses and someone that is just meleeing them instead is just slacking around and should not be playing plat imho. Care to mention which gun you use as Juggernaut (except reegar+incendiary cheese) that can take out two platinum boss level units within 20 seconds?
