Frustrating.

 

An infiltrator with fairly high CP dropped into my lobby carrying the BW, so I figured I was safe using my GSMG TSol (with Falcon sidearm).

 

HA, NOPE.

 

Pugs refused to nuke on assassination objectives and instead ran around avoiding the phantoms we were supposed to kill (????), which led to me having to run over and nuke them before time ran out. Minus three missiles. Then one of the pugs decided to get cornered by an Atlas, killed, and nearly executed. Another nuke gone.

 

The pugs all got executed on wave 9, leaving me to clutch against two atlases, upwards of two phantoms, some combat engineers and the turrets they were putting up everywhere, and guardians that kept spawning right where I needed to go to escape the atlases and phantoms.

 

Needless to say, we wiped. Thanks, pugs.

Embarrassing
 
My royal idea was to try the Talon for the first time, with a Graal, of all things.
I had already coloured him in an embarrassingly horrible piñata explosion of all possible colours, and his/my performance lived up to that. I felt like a total clutz with it, can't remember the last time I scored that badly, on lolbronze. Didn't die but it was just a game of embarrassing embarrassment. Not trying it again.

Invisible

 

Just did a game with Geth Engineer, which had a no-fitness build, full specs in hunter mode and turret. Map was Hazard Giant-Cerb-Gold.

By wave 3 I noticed I was being killed by invisible enemies. Nothing came up on the bottom-right feed, not event he fact that I was killed. After a few more waves, I noticed I couldn't see Phantoms! As if they're not hard enough already when you can see them! This explained why I was going down so quickly, like one hit without shield gate and heatlh gate! None of the pugs I was with were on mic to call them out, so I contemplated quitting, but then thought I'd just see how far I could get. 

 

Used the Geth turret to see where the flames where going, and then just sprayed the Reeger in the general direction. Made it all the way to Wave 11 by sticking close to the others who graciously revived me a lot, but then I got synch killed by thin air with 60 seconds left. Still managed a score of about 110K so not too tragic. Made off with 75K to buy back all the consumables I wasted.

Redeeming

Joined a GiP. As I'm loading, I can feel my controller vibrating and the "teammate down" playing over and over, so I already know I'm getting a warm welcome at the LZ. Turns out to be Collectors/London. Screen comes up, I got an Abomb jumping on me with a few troopers gunning me down, so I naturally die even before I take my first step. As I rage-gel, the current score leader goes over the mic in his 14 yr old cracking voice, "geez you all suck." Ok junior, game on. By 3 rounds I passed him on the scoreboard and not another word was said. Finally tally had me solidly leading the match, when we get back to the lobby junior bails immediately while I stroked my e-peen in sweet redemption

No really, only did a couple of gold pug games the last couple of days and the pugs keep reminding me why I prefer soloing.

Pugs hosting with potato connections
Pug hosts rage quitting
Pugs running off nuking on objective waves
Pugs running off nuking and dying on extraction

Pugs only using the most OP guns/kits in the game on gold
Credit hacking pugs with max UR guns making it more difficult to complete the games due to having no clue what to do

Well, characters that trivialize the game into the hands of a regular platinum soloer like you might not do it into the hands of a more casual player.

Most of the other points are fair I'd say. But this one, low blow. People spent hundreds, sometimes thousands, of hours to get some of these weapons and this notion that they should be set aside to use a Shuriken X or it's ilk on gold after the fact...dumb.

 

I don't care what people use. Just make sure you point at the bad things and pull the trigger.

It's usually not so casual players I'd say as many of them have significantly high CP/N7. When they show up for gold with TGI/Harriers, Reegar/AIUs, GI/Javelins etc that's only for the purpose of "winning" the scoreboard.

I should have added "not very skilled" along casual, because the level of N7 and CP is clearly not a great indicator of skills. I find your posts contradictory, as you first say that you don't care about being outscored, and then complain about players wanting to "win" the scoreboard. Besides, there can be other reasons for people to use "OP" setups : they may have had a terrible game previously, just want something easy to relax or to complete a challenge as soon as possible, are tired, etc. Why picking and generalizing the worst possible explanation ?

 

I would have loved so much to have more PUGs doing a good amount of damage...

Well, I like quick searching UUG games with a GI/Hurricane with AP IV rounds, so I guess I classify as a tryhard then.

 

I have never noticed a correlation between N7/CP and skill/game knowledge personally

 

Example; One of the highest N7 players on PS3 has roughly 5K hours played and they will bleed out on objective waves and later waves, and have no clue what they are doing during various objectives.
