The real SOB of the matter is, 2 mil spent and not a single UR. Not even one of a gun I never use.......wasted day. Just for cryo IVs.
Prepare yourself, because my record is 2.3 mil, so it can get worse. ![]()

Cheesed
went back to Baldur's Gate.
Coincidentally, I just today came across a really old Balder's Gate character creation guide that I wrote years ago.
I really did not like druids.

My first playthrough was with an Avenger. Pretty much the worst kit, particularly at that time lawls. (Vanilla, 1999 or whenever it came out.) I had a rough time of it from what I remember.
Going through as a dual flail wielding Half-orc berserker with an evil party. Wanted to try Dorn/Hexxat.
Kensai/Mage Master Race. Only use me Celestial Fury/Hindo's Doom +4.

Isn't that a bit like using an AIU with a reegar or a CarrierTGI? Except you spend 2/3rds of the game sub-optimal then get bonkers powerful after your dual class catches up? (Never done it myself, just read about it.)

Kinda. But I did play with Sword Coast Strategems installed. And was doing it solo. So it felt sorta justified.
Oh, that's right, there were two Baldur's Gate games at around the same time. I was talking about the other one, with Imoen and Minsc.
I think the one you guys are talking about was the one my friend referred to as "Champions of Shopping." I never played that one.
Er, both had Imoen and Minsc. Right now I'm playing Baldur's Gate 2, Enhanced Edition.
Is the other game you're thinking of, Icewind Dale? O.o?

Not sure, I never played it. Dark Alliance, maybe? It was on consoles.
I was confused because I had never heard of any of the kits you were referring to. I only played the first one, and it used AD&D 2nd edition, but didn't have any kits options for classes.

I got the BG reboot, but it's hard to go back to that ruleset.
I went back to playing it for a while maybe 8 years ago, although I had lost the Sword Coast expansion disc in the meantime, so without that, but I managed to get back into it for a year or so.
Not sure I could do that again at this point, but I might give the reboot a try. Does it use the same dialogue files, or did they re-record stuff?
Yeah, the console one was Dark Alliance. It didn't use a D&D ruleset.
I think my friend described it as requiring a lot of running back and forth to the shops, but he may have been referring to yet a different one. I googled to see if I could figure out which one I'm thinking of, and it appears there were quite a few games with Baldur's Gate in the title that were semi-related to each other. All from 1998-2005 or so.
I only played the original one. I always meant to get the second one, but when my hard drive died I knew I wouldn't be able to import my game, and I never got around to it. Apparently not importing a character doesn't really have much adverse effect on the game, so it's silly that I never got around to it.
I'd imagine I could find it very cheap at this point.
Ah, never played Dark Alliance. Barely even remember it's existence. O.o
The primary three Baldur's Gates are...
1: BG1 and Tales of the Sword Coast
2 BG2: Shadows of Amn
3 BG2: Throne of Bhaal. (Like bocce.)
A new studio took up the series and did "Enhanced" editions. They added a few characters, and they added things that were introduced in BG2 like class kits. There are the standard classes, Fighter/Mage/Cleric/etc. In BG2:SOA they introduced kits for the classes. Kits are specialist classes, a bit more refined. Berserkers for instance, give up ranged weapons for an enrage similar to a barbarians rage but, well. Better. (Makes you immune to a bloody awful lot of things. Notably Maze, which makes certain Lich fights significantly easier.)
Actually, it's been years since they did the first Enhanced Editions and I'm fairly impressed with what they've added. They've added most of what the old mods did and more. I still use EEKeeper to make life faster and more efficient, but I don't exploit. My days of spending an hour or two rolling for a good character are well behind me. You can zoom out as far as you want, for instance. They're introducing a better quest tracker too. You can see passable terrain highlighted on the minimap. List goes on.
They've also created a fully new BG game called Siege of Dragonspear. Haven't touched it yet, all I know is it takes place between BG1 and BG2:SOA.
The Enhanced Editions also add new characters.
They don't add/change any voice overs or anything, although I believe they got the same VO's back for their new game surprisingly enough.
I only played Dark Alliance on the PS2. I blame being high, with high friends, and a free disc (what more does a stoner need to complete a game?!)
I'd only play it again to play with the wife, since I know how she likes to beat things up (I got her into gaming with Diablo 2, which is pretty similar gameplay-wise).
OT:
Awful.
All of them.
There was 2 PUGs in about 6 games that weren't making the game worse by blocking good spawns, then bleeding out (wtf is medigel?! It's a myth, right?). And those two, brought Lag with them, lag in abundance (I am suspecting they came from Asia, since I only really have problems with connections from Aus and Asia-Pacific).
I am also reaffirmed that half the stuff in this game screenshakes, and I've had enough of it.
Between the bad coding, and even worse PUGs, I think I need to take a break again.
^ Yep, a few in a few games also brought memleak. I really wish they'd give all the Pugs the basic info of PS3ing this game, and repeat repatedly that they need to restart every now and then. Annoying to have to restart yourself after just 1 fresh game, with pugs like that.
Lows: Also, scorewhores with e.g. 82k CP, who don't do any missions on Gold. I'm sure s/he didn't think kindly of me when I told him to go back to bronze to learn how to play a co-op game, but he deserved it. He was also scorewhoring wrong, as hubby topscored him anyway. (And the pug ran out of gel on last waves.) At least the other pug in that game really tried, he did die a bit but we revived, and he was right there with missions.
I believe I also ranted a bit to some people who did not gel, not once. How do people go on Gold and not bring gels... Still quite surprised I haven't received any hatemail for my miffed rants yet! Occasionally I end up getting FRs from another player after those types of games, though. ![]()
If really want to look for the Highs for this handful of bad Golds: I feel comfy enough duoing Golds with my husband (whether it is an actual set duo, or the pugs just die out constantly, also wouldn't go duoing Gold with a pug), I rarely die, and keep doing better, even with sniper rifles.
Duds.
That is my experience with missiles currently. I fire a missile into a nice swarm of bosses and mooks......Missile Launcher Cannibal.
That was it.....I've had impotence with my launcher for a while now. Maybe I should get a pump.
Realization!
UUG, and the absurd host had a connection from Pluto, we rolled Geth Glacier.
I realize, after all this time, it is the combo of bad lag and Geth that is the ultimate fun killer. Primes / Pyros / Rocket Troopers don't need any more help.
Combine that with me reviving the host 5 times thru wave 3 and them still managing to get stomped on every freaking wave, then having to clutch the hack on wave 3 after everyone was stomped on. 50 kill medal in wave 3, PUGs pls.
Devices came up on wave 6 and as I was doing the first one my teammates all bled out / got stomped on .. so i quit. The absurd host had 4k points, like with a connection that bad you should be performing better than your off host teammates
Rediscovery.
I've never been huge on the Quarian Infiltrator (because I can never get decent weapon drops. STILL TO THIS DAY do not have the Black Widow). I never bothered using her because she seems so underwhelming on paper (cloak but have bad weapons, limited grenades and a skill that primarily focuses Geth/occasional Turret).
Flash forward several years, I bought the game on PC, gave her skills a look again and noticed that her "Decrease the weight of *Weapon*" is tailored to SMGs. So I thought to myself "Maybe I should approach this a different way instead of making all non-AIU characters snipers."
Holy crap does it make a difference! Instead of going pure power, I gave her the extended duration of Cloak, the additional power usage. I made the Sticky my workhorse for Armored targets. Enable/disable objectives become a joke for me, synth enemies get hacked without exposing myself to danger (I still take grim satisfaction in hacking a Turret and watching it mow down the engie that dropped it). I have never enjoyed an Infiltrator Character more, nor have I ever enjoyed using the N7 Hurricane as much as I do now. And throwing grenades while cloaked is awesome too, armored enemies never know what hit them.
I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm gushing here, but the past few games where I've played her have just been a ton of fun.

This was a mistake I made for the longest time, too. Sabotage is better as a stagger ability to line up easy headshots; against geth it's mainly just a momentary source of amusement so you can see things like "yyrael [Geth Rocket Trooper] Geth Trooper" on the kill feed. It's also a good ability if you're on a tech team because you can spec into Tech Vulnerability.
So basically, she's a great sniper whose abilities can also make bosses go down faster, which is pretty neat. ![]()
Exactly what yrael said. Even if you're not getting UR drops, I'm guessing you have a decently levelled Widow or Kishock? I'm also fairly sure that tech vulnerability can increase the damage of her sticky nades, if you use disruptor rounds with them and then you can stack that with her cloak bonuses to get easy killstreaks (incendiary rounds for fire explosions also work, but no sabotage bonus for that, sadly).

Not sure on the sticky grenades. But then, I only ever use them while in cloak, so they get a big damage boost anyway.
Hmm...well, just thinking about it, assuming the sticky grenade itself doesn't overwrite it with an ammo power, sabotage primes for tech bursts anyway, so I would assume the sticky grenade could detonate that.
