ME1- Garrus, Ashley, and Kaiden. Garrus never stood out for me in ME1 and I didn't feel much for either human squadmate due to Virmire.

ME2- Jack, Samara, and Thane I am terrible at handling biotics and Thane was redundant since I had Garrus and Legion for sniper duties anyways. Plus I used Jack's Bonus Power myself.

ME3- Guess VS according to the Citadel DLC. Nuff said.

In ME1, it was pretty even.

In ME2, it's sill more or less even, though Miranda is always with me.

For ME3, I stick to Javik and Liara/EDI (depending on the combat). Everyone else goes unused.

ME1 - Kaiden- didn't like biotics in ME1 +Vermire.
ME2 - Jacob - useless abilities/weapon setup,boring.
            Legion - come late in the game.
ME3 - Vega - see Jacob
           Tali - see Legion
            EDI - Found her to be...distracting...and not in a good way ,also did like her abilities/weapon setup

ME1: I try to balance playthroughs, but typically, the characters who never saw the light of day were Ashley, Liara, and Tali.

ME2: Same as above, though this one I more outright take favorites: Kasumi, Tali, Jack, and Jacob.

ME3: I really only ever used James, Javik, and Garrus. Never bothered with the women. If I have Kaidan, I'll take him sometimes.

EDI was basically Liara's firepower with tech powers instead of biotics, but Tali, especially in ME1, could be turned into a Quarian tank with that shotgun of hers.

I never used Tali in any of the games really. Not because I disliked her, but because I was an Engineer and she seemed a bit redundant.

Never used Jacob because of his crappy powers, or Thane.

Never use the VS or Garrus in ME3, but unlike most people here I do actually use EDI and James a lot.

I used James quite a bit. Aside from his squad health bonus, he was a solid choice for the N7 missions.

Miranda is, IMO, by far and away the most useful squadmate. Warp, Slam, Overload, plus that awesome passive. Her only weakness is that she is rather squishy on higher difficulties.

I believe Miranda is the only squadmate that effects every enemy with her powers. She may look sexy but she is tough as nails. She is very useful on my insanity run(s). I take her on all missions.

Its unfortunate that she is not a squadmate in ME3

Kaidan is a crater in all of my 20+ playthroughs except for 2......


So, overall its gotta be Kaidan. But I also never use Jacob or Thane in ME2

Pretty much used Ashley, Miranda, Wrex, and Garrus 90% of the time throughout the trilogy. Used Thane, Legion, Grunt, and James a good amount too

Half of the reason I was drawn to Liara was because her powers control the battlefield like few other squadmates can throughout the trilogy. Same way in ME3.


Power-wise I think Liara and Miranda are at the top. Which one is better is a matter of preference.

Now, as for being a straight-up beast in any situation: Ashley may not be liked by many, but she is a godly tank. Never needs medigel or reviving. Girl is a bullet sponge just as much as either krogan (Wrex and Grunt)

ME2: It's quicker to say who I did use: Garrus, Miranda, Tali.
ME3: James, EDI (Mostly went with BioticBoomSquad: AdeptShep, Liara, Javik)

Ashley was basically my James in ME1. I always equip her with the best heavy armor and assault rifle and took her on a lot of missions.

I managed to use a majority of my team pretty well balanced. But Tali, Garrus, and Liara will always be my top tier crew members.
