ME1 - Liara, because she's an archeologist, not a trained marine / soldier / mercenary, despite her biotic talents. Rarely used Tali for similar reasons. I'm pretty pedantic with my in-universe logic...

ME2 - Tali, for the same reason. Jack, until I get her loyalty and she puts on an actual shirt. I like to think of it as Shepard not using her on a mission until her stability is assured. Kasumi, because she's a thief, she's supposed to infiltrate, not run around battlefields. Thane, because to be honest I don't find him that interesting. Mordin, because I feel like his place is on the ship, sciencin'

ME3 - Liara, she's the Shadow Broker and therefore too useful to risk on the field. EDI because I just don't like her body or the fact that she even has one.

Used all of them, 'though I often rely on raw firepower and tech stuff. I'm not the biggest fan of biotics, 'though they come in handy from time to time.

I rarely ever used "pure biotics", "mixed biotics" feel more useful. Samara and Jack didn't see that many missions, Liara had her deal of action, same for Kaidan, 'though I had to leave him behind on Virmire. So the most-used biotics are Miranda (my fave squadmate in ME2) and Wrex (my 2nd fave squadmate in ME1).

Everyone else saw more action, however, I think Tali was used least (dies too easily) and Ashley fought in most missions (takes a punch and deals twice as much).

Easy to say I used Garrus and Tali most in all three games. I made sure to include missions and screen time for all other characters.

ME1: I use them all pretty much evenly...
ME2: Legion. I don't even assign him to tasks during the SM.
ME3: EDI and James. There's just no character appeal there.

ME1 I rotated everyone through regularly

ME2 I pretty much only used Garrus and Tali. They were familiar faces and actually ahd sealable outfits ( I simply did without biotics except on certain loyalty missions)

ME3 I only avoided using Javik and EDI. And Even Javik went on the occassional N7 mission.

ME 1 - Really nobody I switch the team for every mission. (Wrex/Garrus, Liara/Tali, Ashley/Kaidan are my pairings)

ME2 - Jacob, Samara, Jack (favorite team Grunt/Mordin)

ME3 - EDI, James

I was using only Garrus and Wrex in ME1. For ME2, I try to mix it up as much as possible depending on the situation. I'll most likely use Jack and Thane for the Reaper. Same thing with ME3, mix it up (except Liara which I will leave on the Normandy as much as possible, Shadow Broker, Scientist AND fighting? Yeah right.)

There's two priority missions (provided you have From Ashes) that makes her obligatory. It also seems to fit that she comes to the Ardat Yakshi mission too. I can't help but bring her on some others because of the squad banter, like on Sur'Kesh. Teasing her about the escaping Yagh becoming the next Shadow Broker is too good to pass up, especially if Garrus is there to add to it.

Poor Jenkins. I imported my ME1 Shepard for a second playthrough, and Jenkins automatically got the auto-upgrade talent points, and it counted for nothing. Damn plot death.

Wrex mostly. I've played entire runtroughs of ME where he never left the Normandy after getting on outside of Virmire.

ME1 - Tali (didn't need) and Liara (eww).
ME2 - Used everyone except Samara (didn't interest me) and Legion (picked up so late in the game).
ME3 - Liara.

ME1 depended on the mission, I took Liara for Noveria. Once, usually Ashley was with me every mission though. She saved my ass a few times, she never died. Tali never got used really, she collected dust. Used Kaidan until he died on Virmire, he was pretty handy to have in tight areas.

ME2, I never really took Samara and Zaeed. Tali again, probably Legion, and Mordin, he went out sometimes. Jack went out more often, I used her for a bit. Took her and Miranda to horizon, interesting dialogue.

ME3, I didn't take Tali out, actually. Didn't take her out at all throughout the trilogy really, she just died often and her powers never really suited what I needed. Unlike ash for example, me being a vanguard, her soldeir powers helped balance the group out with EDI.

ME1: Wrex and Ashley.
ME2: Jacob, Jack, Mordin, Legion, Samara and Grunt.
ME3: Tali, James and EDI.

James and EDI can help in combat but it is more due to them being my least favourite, and I sometimes wish I wasn't forced to take EDI on the Cerberus assault mission.

Liara kept dying on me, so I stopped bringing her. Anywhere. It was a joke eventually. "Where's Liara? Dead again!"

I think the big problem was my preferred playstyle has me zipping around like a squirrel on a sugar binge, and unless micromanaged, Liara seemed to want to hang out close to me. In the middle of the banshees. It went about like you'd expect...

ME2: Besides loyalty missions Tali because reasons stated above and Legion because he's so late into the game
ME3: Tali and Kaiden (femshep playthrough)

ME1- Never use Kaidan, Garrus, Liara, Wrex.
ME2- Never ever use Jacob unless its his loyalty mission. Usually just roll with Mordin and Jack or Zaeed.
ME3- Honestly if I could solo ME3 I would. But since I'm forced to choose I take Javik and EDI with me until I get Tali, then it's Tali and EDI.
