well done Jeremiah.

I won't quote you directly, since it was in a private message, but I laughed when you said it explained why I was always just behind you in score when I used the HSent!

Thanks! :wizard:
Especially for looking over the draft before I posted it. I was really nervous about posting my first Build Guide.

BE Human Sent?

Skip passives and max everything else.

Oh, and my Female runs no passives + melee. Fun times.

I recently specced my female for melee / tech armor detonator. It's probably the most fun build I've got going right now and melee synergy + talon is devastating. I also specced my female adapt for melee. It's a little tricker to do on gold though

There are a few advantages to going 5 in passives, instead (as an alternative.) :wizard:

1. If you're using a weaker weapon, passives mean you won't have to slow down to take the time to BE a husk, which is an impractical way of fighting mooks, generally. By having a powerful throw, you dramatically increase the kit's versatility. Being able to make a powerful offensive weapon out of throw is part of what lets a player bypass a weak manifest.

2. The extra carry weight gives you a bit more freedom in weapon choice, without necessarily sacrificing the basic tool of the build - fast, powerful Biotic Explosions

3. While alternating Warp and Throw, you are receiving damage bonuses to the individual use of the powers, even though it doesn't increase the level of the Biotic Explosion. These damage bonuses can cross thresholds in Gold that noticeably increase the pace at which you can kill mooks, as well as take down bosses.

No offense but Hurricane+lolcolyte makes any kit Platinum viable.

Blasphemy! The only proper build to the Human Sentinel is the melee build! Throw+hatesurf glory FTW!

No offense taken. :)

I would make that point, myself, except that neither weapon is necessary for the build to be offensively powerful. The video demonstrates the Build under what I consider to be ideal circumstances - in my manifest, that is the Acolyte X and Hurricane VIII.

However, in the video I also mention that the Build is designed to work with any manifest. That is actually the point of the Build. This can be done with an Avenger. I have video of that, too. I posted it as our registered score in DragonRacer's tournament.

I just played with a build very similar to this and was going to say its "meh" but I was unknowingly playing gold. Thought I was in silver the whole time so I guess it went smoothly.

I'll take that as a good sign. :)

If you're going with a pistol, Commando Gear. (And Power Amp Mod.)

A Cyclonic makes for an easy, fun game.

A Power Amplifier makes Throw extra-oomphy, and can be a lot of fun (although I find Collectors sometimes laugh at my Power-Amped Throw.)

What do people do with tech armor -- set it and forget it or actually use it to pop mooks by detonating it? Funniest ME3 MP video I've seen the character uses nothing but tech armor detonations to kill everything. Other than for the lolz I've never seen tech armor as offensively useful?

Also, since it "slows power usage by 50%" -- why not skip this?

If I were to spend ranks in Tech Armour without taking the 30% penalty offset, I'd probably build it around a heavy weapon, and use Warp as a DeBuff.

With this build, Tech Armour has 6 ranks, with the penalty-offset evo, so the speed penalty is only 20%. With a good 180% + cooldown, what you lose in refresh speed is more than made up for by Tech Armour's damage bonus to powers, as well, as the DR Tech Armour provides.

Tech Armour is a key element in giving Throw the offense it needs to really clear the mooks with efficiency, by improving the force and damage.

Although I call it the "Biotic Explosion Build," that's more of a simplication. It would more accurately be called "The Biotic Explosion and Super Beefy Multi-Mook Tossing Throw Build." :wizard:

I think this is a good guide on how to play the human sentinel, but if someone were to pug/play platinum for the very first time, I think they would probably do better with the juggernaut, ghost, SI, destroyer, etc.

+1 for highlighting one of my fave kits (even if enemy dodges on gold and below get annoying); one of the few I can bring into a plat pug w/o many strings (nades or ammo/heavy weapon reliance) attached and do fine regardless of the team and enemy setup.

For quite a long time Human Sentinel was my favorite and "go to" kit. It was the first kit I extracted from gold with and first kit to solo bronze. It's a great kit when your manifest is empty, have not played it in a long time though.

Yes, that's what I found. I barely need my gun, sometimes.

Human Sentinel is by far the most frustrating class for me. It drives me crazy. I love it's powers. I love casting them, the quick cool downs, almost everything about it except.... dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge.

I'll have to try it out one more time and make sure I host the game, perhaps that will make a difference because I've found it very tough to get as many BE's as I should because the opponents dodge every thing.

I know I know, just shoot the enemy 1st then cast.

I have games where that happens, definitely.

Perhaps my aim with powers is so terrible, I don't notice as much!

I usually host, but I play The HSent off-host more than my other kits, because it's one of my goto kits for Platinum and Gold. When it happens a lot, it is frustrating, but I don't find it happens more than with other projectile-power characters.

It probably helps that I typically use the kit at shorter or moderate ranges. It's one of the kits I can safely "spawn rush" with, and I have a feeling being closer to your opponent lessens the success with which they dodge your powers.

I could be wrong, though.
