^ Exactly. Those games are something I'd rather have on my PC. I want MS to focus on making exclusives, new IP's, not milking Fable and Halo.

COD is confirmed. I don't know about FIFA.HiddenInWar wrote...
Do people still play those FIFA games?
According to that kotaku article FIFA and COD might take center stage.
ex-Microsoft employee: They spent billions to shift the market, create a “dudebro” culture
“Nintendo was slandered as a kids platform, not a leading light. Xbox
put machismo, ultra-violence and chimpboys with backwards caps in the
spotlight. Wedge, wedge, wedge. Gamers were handed a pre-packaged group
identity via the propaganda machine of a mega corporation. For those
raised post-Xbox, this workplace was the unquestioned birthplace, the
Mecca. Dude. They made Halo.”
I grew up before Xbox was even a thing. That said, when I was around the age of 13, I really enjoyed the Xbox platform. I was really into multiplayer shooters with great graphics and solid online, and that's what Xbox offered back then and what they continue to offer today. However, the difference is back then was that they also had a variety of games in different genres. They had some really cool exclusives like Conker and Crimson Skies. So, if you weren't really into the shooter thing, you could still play on Xbox and have a good time.
Today, it's Halo and Gears of War in heavy rotation. If you aren't playing those, you're likely playing Call of Duty or Battlefield. Microsoft now invests heavily into timed-exclusive DLC instead of real exclusives that offer variety. If you're an Xbox Live Silver Member (like me) then you realize how **** this console really is. The whole system was designed around the Gold experience, and they really expect people to pay for p2p online multiplayer and apps that offer services that are free on literally every other device under the sun.
But they must be doing something right because people keep coming back and paying that service fee in addition to putting down $300-$400 for the console itself and that's not even including the $60 games. While it's true that some people really like the service Microsoft provides, I can't help but feel that a lot of folks who are Gold members are very ignorant when it comes to what they're actually paying for. How many of them do you think realize that they're paying for p2p multiplayer with no dedicated servers? I bet they don't even know the difference.
The YouTube and all the other apps that you have to pay for to access on the console you have already spent hundreds of dollars on should rightly ****** you off. It certainly pissed me off when I had to actually start paying for the service and the price went up. I started questioning what I was actually paying for and found out, well, not very much. There's also the issue of peer pressure. I doubt the majority of people who are big online gamers would want to make the switch to a different brand if all their friends wanted to stay put.
Honestly, I find the whole thing disgusting. I bought a PS3 in 2007 and I ended up selling it, much to my regret later on. I also find it interesting how Microsoft is once again abandoning the 360 just like they abandoned the original Xbox. PS3 gamers already got a new God of War and will be getting The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls, and Gran Turismo 6 this year and I believe some early next year. What did Xbox 360 owners get near the end of the generation? Yet another Gears of War and a Pizza Hut app. Let me tell ya, I am so ****ing excited to order pizza from my Xbox instead of ordering it over the phone like all the other plebeians. Holy ****.

I have a feeling that Fable might become an even better series without PM overhyping everything as a revolution in gaming.LPPrince wrote...
I'd like to hear about Fable IV. Curious where Fable goes without Peter Molyneux at the helm of Lionhead Studios, even if he's just down the street working for 22Cans.

Well, the overhype will die down for sure, but the quality of the games? I dunno.
Could go either way. Could turn to fecal matter or could become amazeballs better than before.
I'm hoping for amazeballs better than before.
