It isn't like you lose your save game data - you keep all of your achievements, saves, DLC, etc. So it will take you two minutes to install the game again... just as long as it took to install it the first time.Enigmatick wrote...

It's not alot of space at all if you have to install games. Oh this next gen is going to burn fast.Brockololly wrote...
I find it curious how they have a 500GB hard drive and mandatory installs. That's not a ton of space?
Logic bomb- Delete the games you don't play anymore
And then reinstall them you get the itch to play them again? How inconvient.
This frees developers to make better quality games, since they KNOW the player will have the game installed, instead of having to deal with the concept of some having the game installed to make it run faster/smoother.
I'm not in the less bit concerned. I have one of the first 360's and, basically, have to delete the old game if I want to install a new one. It's not a huge time sink, nor resulted in any sort of lost experience when I wanted to go back and play the game again.

According to one report the console may require games to be installed, with a fee required if you want to install them onto a second account. Either way, going by this, players can boot games as soon as they start installing them.

This too. I dunno though, if Microsoft knows their games willLPPrince wrote...

Then you upgrade, simple. Microsoft would be stupid to not have some sort of HDD expansion you can buy separately at launch. And if they're smart, it'll be a 1TB removable drive, with consumers getting a discount on it if they buy the Xbox One.
I don't know about at launch, but down the line there will be increases in HDD size.
a) Require installation, and
Then I would suspect them trying to get a HDD expansion out around launch. If there's nothing to worry about with the size of game installations, then I would expect HDD expansions further down the line as you noted.

Hmm while Sonys stock has rose 3 points, MS's has only went down .30
So someone out there must have faith in that console, or they just remember MS has other things to fall back on.
So does Sony, though. They were 87th on the 2012 Fortune 500, and that is definitely not on the backs of the PlayStation. Not even close.
Basically, the stock market rating is good for fanbois to chortle over. and not much else.

Yeah, its not inconvenient at all. If it took a half hour to install a game I'd understand, but it NEVER does.

This, plus, according to press, games can be played as they install. That's a win-win.Fast Jimmy wrote...

Installation waiting time shouldn't be a problem next gen, apparently:

Much like pre-loading on PCs. Makes sense- the X1 and PS4 are basically PCs that are frozen in time.

Looks like X1 won't be compatible with hair shaders.

I wonder if the console still has the red rings.
The rings in general were lost when the 360 Slim came out- after that IF something went wrong(which pretty much never happened by that point) it was a red dot.

The X1 is basically a fan. I like this. Fans are like bowties, and bowties are cool.

Yeah, but what are you gonna do. Fanboys will be fanboys. I like talking to open-minded folks who appreciate all sides, even if they don't get to experience them.

I don't understand why they can't just implement a 360 emulator. You can play two next gen games _simultaneously_ so it's not a hardware issue. Maybe they have something planned down the line. Not being able to play DAO or DA2, or any XBLA title on One seems lazy.
Not really, at least in my opinion. I'd think that by now people would want to move on to greener pastures.

Or internet providers. I've always wondered what happened to Microsofts version of that. And Sony's.
