@LPPrince My objection to the "always online" thing was never because my internet is inadequate, but from outrage that MS would penalize customers who want to play a bloody game and don't have or don't want to connect to the internet with it. There is already enough digital big brother as it is, and I don't need to have MS constantly looking over my shoulder as a requirement to own a next-gen console. I don't break the law; never have, never will and I resent the treatment of paying customers as criminals. <_<

Not everyone plays games socially, and what the hell is wrong with a solitary experience, if that's the way a paying customer wants to roll? Anti-social people should have their rights respected too.

/rant

Anti-social people can still have wireless internet access and have an online console. Doesn't change much, except when they can't use the console because of a spotty connection.

That being the issue I'm noticing.

Um, how does that have to do with anything she said? lol

So people who aren't connected to the internet 24/7 are anti-social now?

Pray tell that's not what you meant.

Thats not what I meant. I mentioned anti-social because who I was responding to mentioned them.

GUYS, WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME SIDE HERE.

They should give Orth back his Job he was right that is MS's official stance.

They had to fire Orth to scapegoat him.

Wonder who they'll scapegoat next.

wow just wow just read you will have to pay full retail price to unlock used games.

There is still hope that someone will go up to him and say 'no' and when he tries to object they'll just smack him with a used 360

For what 2 euro or something along those lines?
Still doesn't solve the problem of people who have console that have never been connected to the internet.

It can also be a case of places simply not having a connection.

20 minutes out of town from here and you are on satellite networks that can't hold up work a crap. Cottage areas still have limited connectivity to anything that remotly looks like a stable 56K connection.

While such places may not be a common use case they are still valid, and one they are killing by this 'requirement'.

Still.  Needlessly. Complicated.

Can you use one Gamertag across as many consoles as you want?

No, you're missing my point. In order for this console to work, you must have it connected to the internet. Full stop. It means that it is one less choice the consumer is able to make on how they want to use the product. Anything that takes control away from the consumer for the sole purpose of allowing the corporation to keep tabs on you sucks donkey balls.

If you feel differently, then we'll just have to agree to disagree. ^_^

Well I already have my pc connected to my tv and internet in the living room and I watch movies, play games and watch internet tv on it. So far I can't see any reason to buy an xbox 1.
As an Australian all that television stuff won't apply anyway. I also had my internet go down for the last 2 days yet I could still play singleplayer games and watch stored movies.
And now a fee to play used games!? New 360 titles are already stupidly expensive in Australia and as a result the used game market is fairly large.

Oh well, my mild curiosity about the new xbox is now sated. :)

Same side, s'all good. We're like two X1's, almost exactly alike in methodology, except one of us has a fan thats slightly rounder than the other.

God we need to talk about its fans again.

The more I read about the Xbox 1, the more I feel it's a huge cluster f*ck. What is wrong with you Microsoft you had such a good thing going with the first xbox and the 360 and now you've completely forgotten about the people who put you there....... The Gamers.

Shame. Just a sad, sad day for Xbox fans. What a waste.

Oh, didn't you know, Bek? Microsoft wants to spy on your gaming habits so they can use it as data for their spreadsheet and ****. Also, be careful how you speak to your corporate overlords.

I'm kinda interested what Gamestop itself has to say to that actually.

I feel bad for Australians that your games over there are stupidly expensive.

Thank God new games next gen aren't gonna be any higher than before

The move is a direct attempt to cut Gamestop out of the loop, because Gamestop cut everyone else out of the loop. Anything they say will probably not be too relevant. I just used Gamestop as an example for MS's extremely vague service.

But what if you want to bring a game disc to a friend's house and play there? You'll have to pay a fee—and not just some sort of activation fee, but the actual price of that game—in order to use a game's code on a friend's account. Think of it like a new game, Harrison said...

Wow people are gonna be happy about that :D
