Boogie2988 made some great points

"Because we're not going to buy this as a way to watch television, we have a cable provider for that, we have Netflix for that, what we're going to buy this for, is the games we can play. All these features are nice and I'm excited for them, but they're not necessary if the system does not have phenomenal games."

Kinect 2.0 does not malfunction or break down. The prime directive of Kinect 2.0 is to eliminate malfunctioning humans.

I think this video summarizes the Xbox conference pretty well.

You could always stick some Electrical tape over the camera.

Also, as I stated, the sports market is huge, especially the FIFA series, but personally and I know many of my gamer friends... aren't really into sports that much, or don't actively watch or keep up to date with it and most of these features being presented don't help influence anything in regards to owning this console, haha.

Doesn't really come as a surprise:

Xbox One Live TV Only Available in the U.S. at Launch

Goddamn. Every new article that comes out is nothing but bad news.

Also:

The service will not be supported out of the box; Xbox One Live TV will require a separate supported receiver device with HDMI output to work.

****ing WOW. Just... whoa. :o

Someone should re-watch the reveal and tally the amount of time each component of entertainment content (games, tv, and sports) got the most screen time.

So if the Kinect 2 is required for X1 to even function, why didn't they make Kinect 1 required to function for Xbox Slim? Why is it something we're stuck with /now/?

Because that would be stupid.

1. Kinect isn't an integral part of the 360's library of games or other functions.

2. It came out 5 years later, when the Kinect wasn't an integral part of the 360's library of games or other functions.

Did I mention the Kinect isn't an integral part of the 360's library of games or other functions?

Television, it was said that it took 33 minutes before they got to games, or something like that.

Me, probably. If my friends do, eventually. I don't know for sure. E3 is when I'll get an idea of whether I'm going Sony or Microsoft this time.

It's pretty much a gimped version of a PC with Big Brother Is Watching crap installed to boot. Why on earth would I? (and yes I'm exaggerating).

*hugs PC close* Least your pros outweigh your cons.

I actually think it looks kinda cool. It's definitely not something I would throw down for simply for its tv capabilities. And I definitely think the presentation did not focus enough on the game front, but if Microsoft can pull together some decent exclusive titles, something which I've criticized them in the past for a lack of, I could definitely see myself giving this a shot. The kinect/voice commands look to be very smooth, as well. I'm hoping to see some halfway decent exclusives at E3 though, otherwise I'm still not sold.

How has the gaming media been towards this announcement? And what do other forums/comment sections look like?

If you try to put electrical tape over the Kinect 2.0 sensors a laser burns through your tape, then your skull. Do not defy the machine.

Its highly unlikely, I disagree with its used games policy.

And just to be clear, for those who dislike Kinect, you can still navigate the home menu with a controller, correct?
