Basically, they're not going to let your friend play YOUR copy of the game unless HE/SHE pays for their own copy themselves.

I get the mindset behind it, because you could just give them your game once your done with it. If you're borrowing it though, tough break.

Then again, I never lend my games to anyone, as they are SURE to bring my discs back with scratches and smudges.

Yeah it was on eurogamer eariler, I call bull**** on it.

The price for the direct download games now is usually full retail price or at least 3/4 of it on XBL.

So will X1's game policy affect retail in any way?

Lol...the fee costs as much as potentially costs more than the game.

Fixed for unfortunate accuracy.

I need to stop thinking it can't get any worse. I really do. I just keep tempting fate.

Such a convoluted mess. It could have been so easy to just keep things the way they were to begin with.

Either way, the people selling the used game are getting bent over.

The used game market will die.

Other than that, yes. If they start to push direct download.

Gamefly will die and that's unfortunate. Unless this new Xbox dies first.

I've got a group of gamer friends I trust completely with my collection, as they do with me. All depends on your circle.

Gamefly is brutally overpriced.. and I'm sure they could figure out some licensing stuff.

Yeah, the "no disc" thing is so vague at this point that I don't really know what to do with it, especially in how it relates to the used/rental/trade market.

Now that I consider it, not necessarily. If they push direct download, odds are it will be slow as hell so people may consider spending a few extra bucks to have the install disc.

Even then, the used game will be like $5 tops as opposed to 30-55 dollars.

My gaming circle communicates online because we're spread across continents, but my stepbros occasionally ask to swap disks.

" Families using the same home console can use parental controls to allow multiple accounts to access the same game. The MSRP 'fees' will apply if you take a game to another console."

Well that is some good news... I guess....

At the very least it explains why the console requires an internet connection. If you could install games on the 360 and no longer have to have the disc sitting in the tray, the console would have to have some way to verify that you actually own what's on the hard drive and got it legit. Otherwise you could just pirate the hell out of the thing. Still, a simple solution to this would have been to make it like the 360: optional installs that require a disc to sit in the tray while you play.

What I've been able to gather so far is that if you let a friend borrow your game and he wants to use his profile to play it, he has to pay full MSRP. That is truly terrible.
