What do you think/want the new specializations to be?  I think....

Warrior:
Ash Warrior- Benefits when fighting with mabari, both through passive skills and activated talents

Barbarian- Maybe a different name, but something focusing on activated abilities that dish out single target and aoe damage

Rogue:

Ninja- Could change the name, but focuses on stealth, single hand sword, and possibly throwing weapons.

Medic- Focusing on recovery/buff items, maybe could revive fallen comrades.

Mage:

Necromancer- The side of blood magic that focuses on summoning evil spirits from the fade to fight with you; shades, rage demons, etc.

Keeper- Change the name probably lol but focusing on dalish magic primarily nature based.

Thoughts?

Personally, I was hoping for a daemon possessed mage specialization but more daemon then blood mage. Something in the lines of an abomination that retained its sanity. Like Wynn talks about in camp right after she joined you. But I guess that´s for villains only.

And a monk specialization for warriors, corny, I know but there is something about fighting without armor and with fists only that appeals to me.

Rogue´s should be able to become charlatans, conning unlucky merchants and other NPC´s out of their hard earned money and dazzling their enemies with cheap but effective mind tricks.

I don't think we're going to get new specs, and I really don't think we need one. Most of those you've come up with are just variations on ones we have. Barbarian sounds a lot like berserker, for instance, and ninja is basically assassin. The specs are fairly versatile, you can individualize them a lot already.

"New customization options, including new spells, abilities and specializations"

Straight from the Wiki, Highcastle.

The wiki shouldn't be quoted for truth. The source for that info is Gamestop, which is listed as unconfirmed/unofficial information on the official announcement page. It may be true, but should still be taken with a grain of salt at this sage.

EDIT: typo :)

"Featuring an increased level cap, new spells, abilities, specializations and items"
From here http://dragonage.bioware.com/awakening. So yea, it's official.

@ OP. Good ideas.
However, an Ash warrior is basically supposed to be a berserk, lore wise. Although I could defaintely see him also being a Mabari master.

There is already necromancy in the spirit school. Summoner would be a good idea and similar to what you are proposing. He could summon spirits from the Fade to fight with him.

An Archer specialisation for the rogue would be a really welcome addition, since many people thought that being an archer was not satisfying. This spec would offer new and powerful archer abilities (and the ability to use poison coating on arrows, please!). Also, the ability to fire arrows while stealthed (acquired at higher level). Firing at someone would make him move around, without seeing you, until he comes close enough.

But good ideas. Keep them coming!

It would be lovely to have some way to increase the PC-Dog connection, but I don't know that you'd need a whole new spec. for that--just a new skill or talent line. Maybe making you earn a little of dog's love could trigger it like the plot skills for the others.

Well, seeing as the character (if not carried over) is from Orlais, I would think it logical we get specializations from their.

Chevalier? A warrior spec that would increase "traditional" fighting forms (sword and shield or 2 handed).

Summoner- Mage who specializes in opening the veil between the Fade and the real world and drawing demons or spirits into the land to fight for him. (I bet the Chantry would just LOVE this.) hehe

Seeing as many think that archery is already too slanted to the rogue class, I'm not sure if giving them a spec as well for it appeals to me. But I would rather see that than anything borrowed from an oriental setting which doesn't even fit.

Mage specializations are lacking for RP purposes.

While it is RPable to turn Morrigan into a Blood Mage, it's weird to turn Wynne into anything other than staying a Spirit Healer.

Maybe there should be an "Elementalist" spec, which focuses on several powerful elemental spells, and improving the abilities of current ones.

Yes to the other warrior and rogue specs suggested above though.

I've always wanted more in terms of Moral choices. So like Rathenau mentioned I would like something dealing with demons, some sort of abomination. Maybe you trapped it inside of you for power. A very moral choice that would affect everyone around you. Something around those lines.

This is could be very likely.

But the dalish magic the OP mentioned sounds good too.

I'd really like to see mages get some sort of specialization fitting for a 'Blaster Mage', preferably one that doesn't have moral connotations, like blood magic does.

An elementalist might be stepping on the toes of Primal Magic too much (although, maybe a specialization of Wind Magic could work). Another possibility would be a specialization that lets you alter area-of-effect spells: let you widen the AoE, with reduced damage-per-target, or narrow it, with increased damage, and so on.
