Gosh, i never saw a thread change into so many different subjects.
First we had the OP's question about considering the romance thread, then we changed to a hating and insulting BSN Operator thread and now we are talking about Miranda's personality and goals.
What stunning subject do we get next??

Indeed. And Miranda taking over Cerberus? She'll be able to turn them into a real group making a real difference, and a real goal towards advancement and protection of the galaxy. She'll turn Cerberus into something that is beneficial for everyone in the galaxy, not just humanity.

TIM had the right idea and he was a visionary (to some) and genuinely wanted to do protect humanity, but somewhere down the line it got muddled in the execution, a loss of his own connection to humanity, and corruption of power and ideals and indoctrination.

Is the rest of Cerberus just going to bow down and obey Miranda's orders after she kills the Illusive Man?

This is usually how it starts anyways, I hope the OP is happy with the coming hijinks they had no idea they would cause. :D

The point is that she's lying. She doesn't really think a 'normal life' is as great as she makes it sound. The person she's trying to convince is herself.

I don't think she's lying at all. A personal life, a sense of normalcy, a family, is something she wants and she does believe in it. That doesn't mean she's ever going to give up on her ambitions, goals, and drive for achievement. It just means that at the end of a long day, she'll want to come home to a husband, a child, a home, and be appreciated and loved. Here she is, put up on some pedestal by her father and shown to be a perfect human specimen, but she was never loved. She was nothing more than a trophy, a showing of status by her father.

She made the test whether she is fertile or not... she wouldn't have done that if she didn't desire that "normal life"...

I agree that she certainly enjoys the power and excitement she has, but on the other hand she is troubled by the thought that a lot of it what she is as a Cerberus agent is only thanks to the genetics her hated father bought her. Nobody can tell me that her desire to leave all that behind and just be normal is dishonest.

The thing is, I don't think she wants to leave it all behind (btw, she never wanted power or excitement.) She's not troubled by what she did with Cerberus, or what she believed in while working for Cerberus. That disconnect came from TIM's end when he started to turn Cerberus into something that it was trying to stop. It came to a point where he was no longer helping humanity and was interested in only his own vision and ability to save it.

And the fertility test isn't indicative for "normal". She had the test to see if she could reproduce. For now, she can't. But you can have a child and still have the life of accomplishment and goals. Define "normal" btw. I never see Miranda as wanting to go and be a homemaker, barefoot, and pregnant over the kitchen sink. She does want to have some stability, a partner to love and believe in, who does the same for her and understands and accepts her, and possibly a child. That's not really indicative of any "normal"

I personally don't believe she will remain infertile. She brought Shepard back from death itself. This ought to be an easy problem for her and Shepard to solve together.

Considering that Cerberus was hemorrhaging operatives, engineers and scientists all this time, yes. Miranda no doubt has the resources necessary to not only take over TIM's seat, but also bring back the good people that Cerberus was losing.

You're assuming one point of action. You're assuming that I'm going to take one point of action in my telling.

I have nothing to explain to you. I have no respect for you. I have nothing to say to you on this matter (you'll just whine about it anyway). Get lost.

You know, this is exactly the reason they should reopen the subforum - people are evidently determined to discuss the topic, so you might just as we'll let them do it in an appropriate place where it can be ignored by the rest of us.

First of all, if you recall, the operatives didn't know they were being systematically killed. The ones on Jacob's mission figured it out, but plenty no doubt didn't.

Secondly, the only operatives we saw being killed were researchers. What about the soldiers? What about the crew of the Cerberus ships? That ones that no doubt actually killed the researchers, and are thus loyal the the Illusive Man?

Thirdly...so the hell what? How does that change anything?

That is what happens when a part of the boards is locked down instead of moderated. You can't discuss Mass Effect properly without discussing the characters.

I hope not. That place was an embarrassment to Bioware and ME fans in general. If you want to know why I loathe the romances so much, that forum is pretty much exhibit A. Take a look at the DA3 boards, and how the most popular topics are almost all about whether this or that companion will be romanceable, or whether the sex scenes will have nudity, etc. I once made a topic there daring to suggest that players who don't romance anyone should get some kind of reward, and all the waifu-obsessed users descended upon me like a swarm of locusts. Funny how they claim to be in favor of more RPG elements, yet the moment somebody suggests a role-playing path they don't like, they suddenly throw all that out the window. Basically, if you want to know why that forum was closed, look at the DA3 forums.

Neither do I think she wants to leave it all behind. However, her ME3 writer appears to think so, at least if she's romanced, if his writing is any indication. OK, perhaps his word budget didn't allow for a more balanced character portrayal, but that's my impression. The extended death scene is particularly suggestive, to the point that I pretend it doesn't exist.

I personally don't believe she will remain infertile. She brought Shepard back from death itself. This ought to be an easy problem for her and Shepard to solve together.

Agreed. However, adding a problem that should be almost trivial to solve and make it a big issue either suggests that her writer thinks otherwise or that he's unaware of the implications of Lazarus and what that means for lesser medical achievements.

Weird thing is that it didn't really solve anything. All they did was put us into groups.

And we all went back to the same one anyway.

Yes...but the conflict was actually more about publicity and thread politics than about the nominal subject of the topics. That didn't make it into the group, for obvious reasons, and since then the debates are much less toxic.

There's a goodly number of cool people I never would have "met" if that section hadn't been closed down.

I have no idea what it was like, before. But, if the various romance threads evolved into the groups, with client-moderators, that seems like an acceptable fate, to me.

True that's where I used to hang out in until they closed it down, then I migrated to the MP section and meet some great folks there!
