Tali fans weren't much better tbh.

But the Thane and Jacob threads were downright depressing.

What would you expect of a cheating and a dying romance? =]

Hahaha, I want it to open again! All I had to do was jump in every now and again and watch the whole thing explode.

The Miranda fans in particular were an amazing source of laughs watching them go at one another after stirring things a bit

I wonder what could have been differently to not upset people who romanced Thane so much.

Hey, uh, do you know what the Powerball numbers will be this week?

No, but I can make other BSN-related predictions:

There will be roughly two dozen threads related to the endings this week.

There will be another thread about Cullen/qunari/Broodmother romance.

Someone on the pro-geth side of a geth-related argument will make a bad Hitler analogy.

Auld Wulf will tell half the BSN that they're racist anti-intellectual Luddites with hate fetishes.

I would have made his final fight a bit more badass. Instead of Kai Leng by himself, I would have had him drop down with 3 modified phantoms to keep Shep and crew busy. (Simply give them gold eyelights like Leng's to signify they're special.) This would leave Thane/Kirrahe to face off against Leng alone. Then I'd let Thane get a few more hits in, pushing Kai Leng to the point that he gets frustrated/worried, before Thane gets hit with one of the waves of dizziness he mentions when you speak to him in Huerta. This would justify Thane charging into melee range with his pistol - he was doing it to stay conscious. That would unfortunately be Kai Leng's opening for the fatal stab. Shepard and crew would then dispatch the final modified Phantom in time to see Thane be stricken (or Kirrahe/Valern killed).

I think that would be sufficiently more badass to feel like a better send-off for him, without impacting the story Bioware wanted to tell. It would cost them a bit more in terms of cutscene assets though.

He really does go overboard. It's no more than a third of BSN I'd say.

I'd actually prefer Thane to be somewhat weaker, not stronger. As it is, he comes off as a bit overpowered. A hand-to-hand expert that almost beats Leng while sick, AND a powerful biotic, AND a perfect shot, AND a master of stealth, AND an acrobat? He should be weaker than say, Garrus. Or Zaeed. They have more battlefield experience.

I think it'd be better for him to actually take Leng by surprise and basically get a few easy hits in before Leng starts to counter him, levels the fight, takes the advantage, and wins.

Nope, the character and romance forums were an attractive nuisance, and Bioware doesn't want to be held liable for injuries to the feelings of any fans that may occur there.

They weren't trained to be killers from 8 years old. If you ask me Thane's skills were underplayed.

Thane's weakness is learning how to function in a team, which Shepard had to teach him, but in terms of a one-on-one fight he should indeed be equal with a Cerberus ninja (at least, were it not for his illness.)

I'd be okay with that too, so long as they make it clear it was his illness that led to losing the upper hand. I would a healthy Thane to be evenly matched with Leng, who really wasn't all that without his enhancements.

Aww hell naw, she be hella creepy tbh, stalker in a gas mask.

If I needed to form an alliance I would look to the Mirimancers. They are a bloodthirsty bunch. Not since Helen of Troy has "dat ass" inspired such bloodshed.

Most of the "Miranda fans" aren't even fans, they're fans of their own headcanon or use her as a Strahovski romance surrogate.

Training is not experience. How often did he actually have to use his skills as opposed to just shooting a guy from afar or snapping his neck? Probably pretty rarely. Besides, he doesn't seem the type to bother with improving his skills beyond what he thinks he needs. Compare that to Garrus or Shepard, who seem like people who would fight each other for fun.

Shepard should be the strongest person on the team. If Thane can take Leng, it could very easily come off as contrived when Shepard struggles with him later on.

That's a pretty unfair generalization that's meant more to outline your own dislike of the character and her fans than actually say anything intelligent.

Helen of Troy was a skiny skank! Miranda has brick built buns, which brings all the boys to the yard. :innocent:

Shepard doesn't struggle with Leng at all. Shepard has to deal with Leng + gunship and Leng + roomful of Phantoms and Guardians, and even then it isn't much of a struggle. I don't have a problem with that.

I would say I can't believe I just read this but then this IS BSN...

An assassin trained from early childhood to be the best his body could be would continue to practice and work at his skills regardless of how successful he became. An assassin who was facing an illness that was killing his ability to be active would doubly work on his skills to prolong his life and keep the "I'm still good" feeling going.

Thane at his best would have been able to kill everyone on the Normandy twice over before anyone bar EDI was able to know something was wrong. The only reason the Thane vs Kei Lang fight makes sense is if Thane is literally in his final days and (like some cancer patients) got a second wind that allowed him to be up and moving.

If Thane had taken Kei Lang enough to where the robot ninja ran off with his tail between his legs it still wouldn't have changed the fight between Kei and Shepard. Shepard isn't trained in CQC beyond the normal N7 training and mostly uses weapons, both Kei and Thane are supposed to be expert CQC warriors.

I knew Helen. That woman had an ass that put Miranda's to shame.

And her forward tanks were just as sweet. :P

Shepard should struggle with Leng to make him a nice, satisfying nemisis.
