Ok...pretty much anyone that says the piranha isn't good/used is smoking something. The shotgun isn't even on the top 15 weapon list overall but makes the jump all the way to number 5 when just gold/platinum are concerned?

Must be a platinum thing because I never see it in gold. The geth smg is in the list too, but it's not good. Like I said earlier, it's nothing compared to the harrier, ppr, or hurricane. Hurricane and harrier are used literally twice as much.

It's a great gun, but I do believe that either its ROF should be restored or its magazine size.

I'd rather have a nerfed reegar than a nerfed pirahna.

I'm not saying the gun is terrible, but the nerf wasn't needed. Raider, claymore, and reegar all outclass the pirahna.

Love piranha. best overall shotgun in the game imo.

I would take it over the wraith, reegar+incendiary, or claymore.

The Pirahna is, essentially, the Reegar Lite. With 40% less cheese.

Of course, you can't ever snipe with a Reegar, but Marksman lets you do that with a Pirahna. So why there aren't more Pirahna TSols, I've no idea.

There aren't pirahna tsols because hurricane tsols are better, and pugs don't have the right weapons, characters, or brains.

IMO this depends on your playstyle. For myself, I realized early on that this 'aiming' thing was not going to be a strength, so I get very close and spray ... the Pirhana works the best for this, for taking down spawns ...

Edit - Yes, the Reegar is absolutely the best for the spray and pray style, but gets somewhat boring ... at least the Pirhana requires a limited amount of aiming ...

Depends on the play style. Since I play off-host, the Piranha is more forgiving than the Raider, Claymore or even the Reegar. Sometimes hitting for less damage is better than doing no damage at all.

Ehh I use a cyclonic 1 lol....run in, proxy, and jow mow crap down.  Not saying the claymore is bad at all but a GI with a Piranha cleans up...quickly.

It's so inaccurate and has too much recoil. 

Pugs still use destroyers, but I don't see the pirahna very often anymore. It's sad.

Result = ended up with a flawless gold duo with 230.000 points !!! Dont know what you talking about....

Pirahna exceptionaly is great on:

TSol/QMark. 6 shots, activate marksman 6 more shots in the blink of en eye.
HSol. 6 shots, activate adren rush and 6 more shots with a 70% dmg increase.
...And of course the GI.

Though I do tend to use it alot w/ my reg plat team (we all do). If a banshee grabs someone, she just cant stand the bite of 3 pirahnas and drops every time.

Its a solid weapon .. the scimitar didn't deserve the weight buff though, tears through enemies now.

In my opinion this is the most versatile shotgun. Recoil? Normally I don't have problem with that unless I use it with the Marksman power.

The original 8 shot version being used with the GI was a little ridiculous ... considering a 6 shot clip still takes down a Brute or Scion

They were using it little too much.

Despite common BSN logic (small sampling, inaccurate analysis based on a few players' favored kits and load outs) that is simply not why it happened. It happened because the Piranha was at the time the optimal gun for everything. It was used more than the chargeless acolyte, believe it or not. It was on literally 3/4 of the load outs in lobbies at the time of the nerf.

The piranha was more popular than the acolyte, harrier, and hurricane put together at the time. For good reason; it had all the advantages of a shotgun, assault rifle, and lightweight caster weapon in one. It was a very balanced nerf, the gun is still very good and it still wrecks on some kits like Paladin, Valkerie, GI.
